Week 1, Day 1. I am going to try and check in everyday. I am also going to try to eat like I should.

Because of my 4 year old I have to be the best I can be.
One of my ways of being the best is get my sugar down by trimming down.

Week 1- Day 1: Just getting started, eager to meet my goals. I'm going to incorporate Weight Watchers too, since my husband has been paying for it the past few months and I've not used it. What a waste :( Anyway, I'm curious how the meal plans work out with the points plus. Stay tuned!!

Nowyoudidit,

I wish I had a name to go with you. I welcome you. Come over and share with me. I almost always make too much and have to either give some away or eat the same thing for several days. I have six children and they always had guests so I learned to cook for an army. I am downsizing my pans because my roommate suggested that I cook to the size of the pans. She is right I'm sure. So I have given away all my pans that hold over five quarts. I gave my son a 5 gallon Revereware kettle and a huge double boiler. I think he will make good use of them.

I love to have someone to cook for. I used to cook for my roommate, but her caregiver has convinced her that my cooking is undermining her health. So she only rarely eats what I cook. It is disappointing for me because I love cooking for other people.

See you later, eat well, stay healthy

Love, Judy emoticon

Week 1 Day 2

I think I forgot to track on SPARKS my food from yesterday. I am keeping a food and exercise notebook though and writing everything I ate and did for exercise in it.

Today I am eating the vegan diet that my doctor wants me to do. I think my body is purging all the junk that was in it which is a good thing. I have been eating salads with beans and today I will add brown rice to two of my meals. I actually have to go grocery shopping to buy more veggies and fruits and dairy alternatives. I have a lot of low sodium can beans.

I am going to dance for one hour to my CD's.

I have been drinking all my water.

Louise

Week 1 Day 2

Yesterday I made a wonderful omelet with shrimp, onions, mushrooms, asparagus, and cream cheese. It was delicious. Because it wound up being really big, I cut it so that one serving was two thirds and I gave that away. I ate the other third and it was plenty.

Now, What shall I do for my meals today. For breakfast I will have oatmeal. For lunch I will use the rest of the shrimp I have on hand and make a curry using a mango I have. For dinner I think I will do something with the 90% lean ground beef and fresh roma tomatoes. I could make a small meat loaf and have something for tomorrow's dinner. That sounds like a plan to me. I am not thinking about snacks right now. That will come later in the day.

Exercise for today, Dancing in place to "Dancing Queen and the theme from "Rocky". I am determined to get strong enough to make it all the way through both songs at one time.

Water: I use 24 ounce cans to hold my water for he day. That adds up to nine glasses of water. My body is accustomed to that quantity now and I don't have to spend 3/4 of my time on the toilet.

I slept fairly well last night. I was awakened early this morning by a telephone call, but when I answered there was no one there. Things like that could be frustrating, but I went right back to sleep.

Love, Judy emoticon

Ok, not sure how to do this, I'm not good at daily check-ins, but I'll try. Lost 2 pounds since my first weigh in. Encouraging. Stuck to healthy eating, sugars are good, but I need to get moving. A daily walk will be my next goal. I'm going to call the coming week my "week one". Have checked out the week goals and feel motivated.

Day3 check in. Doing well with my nutrition tracker, drinking my 8 glasses of water, still struggling with my walking. Yesterday, went for my walk and 5 minutes into my walk I started having shortness of breath and my angina started acting up. So today, I plan to walk only 5 minutes 3 times today. Got to get myself back into shape.

Hope you all are doing well....together we can do this!

hi everyone! This is my day 2 checking in. Still have to get my 10 walking in. Eating has been ok. Getting ready to enter what I've eaten in my food tracker. Had 5 glasses of water so far and working on the 6th.

No change in my weight this morning. But my fasting number is creeping up and I can't figure out why. I thinking of checking in with diabetes management team to see what they might suggest.

Hope everyone is doing well. Until next time...

Hi, even though I've been on this challenge for a week I am just now realizing that I was suppose to check in every day for week 1. So, I am counting this as day 1 of week 1 and hopefully I'll get it right this time.

Since starting SP last Monday, I have managed to track my foods daily for six day in a row. I've managed to lose 3 lbs, which is great! I'm committed to making this challenge a changing way of life for me. My goal is to reverse my diabetes so that I am off my meds and to be more fit and healthy and to lose 20% of my weight by this October.

day 7 nearly completed, will get weighed tomorrow. Had slight lapse last night with cheese on toast but it was low fat cheese. Not done any formal exercise this weekend but lots of pool cleaning, gardening etc so should be okay. Will report any loss tomorrow emoticon

I have already lost 2 lbs so hope weekend has not put that back on.

I completed week one. I have not been able to weigh myself and will do that today when I go to work. My eating habits were not the best this weekend but I did do gardening and stacked wood on Friday. I walked with my husband on Saturday and Sunday. I also went to a big family dinner on Sunday that I definitely ate too much.

I learned this week by logging my food and seeing that if I substitute more fruits/veggies for some of the processed carbs, I can probably do better with my calorie goal. I am also going to increase my water intake. I don't think I hit my goal once in the first week.

I'll just move forward from here. emoticon

Week one day 5. I struggled yesterday. Mornings are usually easy for me but evenings are always hard. Weekends are also very difficult because my husband is home and loves snacks and carbs. I need to figure out how to let him enjoy the foods he loves without going overboard.

This is day 1 of week one for me. So I guess you can figure I'm new to this. emoticon
Is there a list of goals we are suppose to reach each week or do we just post what we are doing?
I've recently been diagnosed a type 2 diabetic, so a new lifestyle is in the future for me. I have a problem with eating regular meals, especially breakfast. And drinking 8 glasses of water a day is a goal I have set for myself. I also have to schedule a lot more exercise into my day.
So with my mind set, and my feet firmly planted, I'm ready to take control of my health and future back.

Just put in my nutrition and I had the best #s so far but I found that I am still making wrong choices. For example my snacks were 100 Cal. Pack pringles and fun size kit kat bar, I was trying to keep myself from binge eat so I was giving myself just a little of what I crave. However those things added over 400 calories and I know I could cut that in half if I chose healthier options. On the good side I got up on my left leg and did some square and toe raises best I've done since the accident.

God Bless You on your Journey!

Day 4 week one Had an excellent day today. Followed food tracker very closely. Calories right in the middle of range. Weight was down today after two weeks at todays check in. Exercise was very good 3 mile walk, strength training and yoga stretching . I am very happy with everything today first time in a long time.

re-started week one and now on day 3. Exercised all three days and following food plan. Set my goal for 8lbs loss by end of challenge which I know is not a lot but it is better than 2lbs off 3 lbs on 3lbs off 2 lbs on etc etc. It has to be a fixed loss sometime and this is the time.

week one day 3. Another weird day at work (I have been visiting a hospital for two days now) found me eating 2500 calories by the end of the day and not enough water. I only had one sugary thing from the entire day but it seems it was the cheesy lasagna from the hospital cafe that really did me in then my husband making burritos for dinner. I did another jog/walk and reduced my time and increased how far I jogged. I am thinking of doing that twice a day since I am so limited on time in the morning.

I need to be focusing more on water and adding more fruits and veggies

Hey team,
I am doing well except for my water I just can't seem to reach the 8 glasses goal. I know the tricks drink a glass before each meal, when you feel hungry drink a glass and wait 5-10 minutes, etc... It is kind of driving me crazy, I'm obsessing about it and then I drink milk, juice, kool aid, or lemonade when I eat. LOL Definition of insanity right.Good Night and Hope You have a great night.

God Bless You on your Journey!

Shoes,

Junk food and portion control are two of my biggest enemies! After so many failed attempts when I tried to change my entire diet, I decided to approach the eating problems differently this time. I am going to try to make gradual changes, rather than to try making all the changes at once. At this point, I am eliminating flour from my diet. I chose flour because it is in almost everything that blows my eating out of the water and raises my blood sugars. Essentially this gets rid of the junk foods that I enjoy. So far, it hasn't been so bad - but this is only day 3. Like you commented about yesterday, I usually find myself obsessing about what I'm not having, but not this time. Usually I am ready to give up by now. I hope this time will be different.

Those blood sugars give us an extra reason to really work on ourselves! I wish you the best!

Gail

Hello Team!

The sun was shining in Maryland, so everything felt a bit more upbeat! I have been surprised about how motivated I feel. Perhaps using Spark People will really help to keep the motivation flowing! All goals were met for today, except the FBS was running a little high, but I know that this will take a little time.

I hope that everyone else is doing well!

week one day two. Even though I had an unexpectedly long day at work, I feel like I did a ok job on eating. I was a little over my calorie goal but it is because i have lowered my goal. I feel like if I ate the 1700-2200 calories that spark people recommends that I would gain weight.

I walked some and did the 15 minute desk workout early before I left for work

Team,

Week 1 started yesterday! I followed my meal plan, took my first yoga class, drank water, and felt motivated! I accomplished my other goals of starting the day with prayer and getting some housework done. Today has been a bit more challenging - I have eaten right so far, but it is overcast and drizzly outside and I am working on my dissertation which stresses me. So I am feeling tired and anxious! I am getting ready to go to the gym - maybe this will help with the moods - I will be meeting another goal for the day which will be great!
