This should have been my week 2 but I had to delay a week to deal with some family issues that came up.

So today is Day1 Week 1 - I just completed the seated resistance band workout. Not perfect but it will get better.

Checking in for the first time. Pre-diabetes with mild fatty liver and obese (honesty is the best policy!). Admitting that I need to change my lifestyle is a big step and I'm taking it.

I just started this challenge today.
I love what you say to yourself before every meal,Iamjoyful2! :
Is this meal a fat burner or a fat storer?
Am I feeding my health or my obesity and diabetes? emoticon
That thinking will help me.

Consuming too much carbohydrate-rich food at one time makes your blood sugar levels rise too high. Monitoring your carbohydrate intake is a key to blood sugar control.

The healthiest carbohydrate choices include whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, beans, and low-fat dairy products.

Week 1 Action Plan

Follow a 15-minute workout video three times this week to build lean muscle to fire up your metabolism, and plan for a 10-minute cardio (aerobic) workout any three days of the week to burn extra calories and fat while strengthening your heart.

Tracking your food regularly will help you stay accountable and to make the best food choices!

It helps to ask before each meal:
Is this meal a fat burner or fat storer.
Am I feeding health or obesity and diabetes.

Day 1 - 142.5 lbs., exercised and tracked my food.
Day 2 - no eating after 6 pm - the kitchen is closed, walked
Day 3 - I forgot my calcium pill so ate a little snack after 6 pm, walked
Day 4 - so far, so good. Low blood pressure, walked
Day 5 - ate well and walked.
Day 6 - tired so skipped my walk.
Day 7 - ate well and walked.

Hello, My name is Bill.
5 months ago I went into the hospital with An A1C of 13.8%, my eyes coating over and was completely dehydrated, oh by the way a glucose of 810. I was going into a coma and cardiac.

I've been with Sparkpeople for 4.5 months now and now my numbers are: A1C 5.4%, glucose is 90, I have lost 47-48 Lbs. I have gone from taking 81 units of insulin a day, to being taken off of it completely.
The reason I am taking this challenge is because I was not aware of it when I joined Sparkpeople and I want to absorb all the knowledge I can about my disease. I've learned I cannot eliminate it, but I can control it, the only way I can control it is with knowledge.
Thank-you

This is week one for me and I did a 30 min. indoor bike ride today. I didn't think it was possible because of my bad knees and not in great shape but I pedaled easily and it worked! I have hope for this challenge. emoticon

Have completed Week 1 exercise suggestion and my strength training. About to go out and cut lantana. Yuck! Have let it get away from me. Another 10-min walk after that and then lunch.

I am very impressed with all I have read here so far today. Everyone is doing the best they can and it is wonderful. Today is my emoticon for this goal and I am very excited. I just set my goals on my computer calendar to follow and I will be walking today. In three weeks I will be having a knee replacement and want to be doing my goals here so that I can stay focus during the physical therapy and the pain. emoticon emoticon

Okay...here goes the truth! I was doing great had lost from 259 to 240 then stop nothing. Left the gym I was very unhappy about secret charges that showed up on my card. So, that became my excuse then I hurt my knee, excuse number two. I haven't lost any weight but haven't gained. Blood sugars running 140 to 99 lately. Have to get in a gym and today I will find one. I feel down, sad and hurt that I would be pre diabetic. I have had enough stuff in my life and sometimes I get so tired of fighting for good health and both sides of my family DNA is against being in good health. BUT, I am wanting to get strong again and get out of this mood. Today I will make a change. emoticon

I'm working on getting my exercise in today (10-minute walk so far today) and will be tracking all my food. I tracked on Saturday on SparkPeople and on paper for Sunday. I am going to transfer it to SparkPeople because I get a lot more information on what I am eating at SparkPeople! emoticon emoticon

I'm checking in today. Last night I did day 2 of the 21-day fix, which is upper body with weights and I did a seated 15-minute workout routine with Coach Nicole. I also walked for 22 minutes. Today I walked for 20 minutes and ended with putting away paper reams and was bending up and down. Then later I vacuumed for 20 minutes and took the hose off and cleaned around all the baseboards. I really worked up a sweat with both of these exercise minutes.

Well I must be doing something right. Day 6 for me and my fasting BS started at 265. This morning was down to 188. First time in a while that it has been below 188 in the morning. emoticon

I think this is a go on your own type thing. Find the forum for Week 1. Open the Diabetes Connections-Week 1 by TONKA14. After you open this choose the link for Be sure to check out the Week 1 Action Plan for challenge specifics.

A new window will open telling you to Set Goals, Start your workout plan, Track food and how to earn a trophy.

Then on Week 2 find the forum for Week 2 and do the same thing.

I am just not sure on the daily check-in part.

Do not give up, even if those around you keep trying to get you down. Stick it out and remember the cheerfulness of a sunny summer’s day when things seem bleak or dark.

Still haven't figured anything out here, and there does seem to be anybody wanting to help so I don't know how far I will go here. Thought there would be more support, but not. Sorry, but I don't see anyone here to help me.

I still haven't figured out what to do here. Is there any structure at all, or is it just a fly by night. Haven't got one thing answered. One more day and I am finding some else to spend my time on. I need help and not getting nothing here.

Checking in! I didn't buy any candy for trick-or-treaters and none came to my door, so that's better than in previous years!

Had a very busy day today. One of those days when life happens and there's nothing you can do about it. Got up and moving as much as possible, sneaking in small bits of exercise when possible.

Went to doctor today. I am going to get results on blood tests in a few days. Hopefully all will be good. My blood Pressure is elevated but not enough to cause concern. Doctor is supposed to try getting me in to see a doctor about my Sleep Apnea. I can't seem to stay awake but also can't sleep more than 3 hours at a time.

Restarting challenge. Hope l can remember where to find excercise videos and other helpful info...lol
Using the app is a challenge in itself. Thankfully SP has somehow made it a little easier. Now, as long as l don't lose my high-speed data it should be doable.

Restart Day 1:
FBS 119

Daily Goal: get 30 minutes of movement at work by getting up at least 6 times for 5 minutes to walk/stretch/move.
Action taken: 2 10-minute walks to other office building for meetings (instead of taking the car). 5 minute stretch break. 5 minute walk around the floor of my building (full city block so significant).
Planned: 5 minute stretch break. 5 minute walk.

Week Goal: PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)
Every step forward is the end of a journey, and the start of another. - Dalai Lama
