W4 D2 yesterday. Checking time is far less urgent when I'm not running intervals; I went 9 minutes between peeks at the watch at one point. Didn't need to slow down as many times as I did for W4 D1. I'm pretty confident I'll get the 40 minutes in on Saturday for W4 D3; different route, because it will need to be longer.

I did W4 D1 yesterday, not knowing when I started whether I could run 35 minutes continually. I made it, and perhaps could have gone longer; but I followed the protocol.

The interesting psychological thing is, when I *know* I'm not going to slow down for a walking interval those long straight stretches of road don't seem so long and I don't feel a need to look at my watch as often. Go figure.

I think I agree with you Chrissy...I was so worried about dropping the intervals, because I didn't fully believe I could run for that long without stopping. BUT I did it last night and it felt AMAZING. It felt good to not have to concentrate on my watch and making sure I run and stop when I should. I felt kinda free. I'm gonna work on my speed next time, because I think I went kinda slow cos I was so worried I wouldn't be able to run the whole 35 minutes. But now I know that I can do it, I'm going to work on getting to 4 miles in the time. Looking forward to my next run (in 2 days).
Keep going everyone. We can do this emoticon

Well done everyone, you are all doing so well emoticon I had to take a few days off running after hurting my calf muscle so i just did week 4 run 2 today and managed 3.3 miles in 35 mins. I'm still finding it so much easier without the intervals!! Dreading the next programme i do with intervals again! ha ha. They obviously do work though because before my 5k was a lot slower.

Chrissy THank YOu so much for your support and kind words!

I tried again this morning, taking things slower and allowing for breaks if I needed them and I did .... and I made it! And rather than do day 2 tomorrow I'm going to take it off and run Friday, just put myself a day behind to give myself rest.

A pitiful 11m, 8m and 6m; I even tried warming up with a 5m walk .... I've been having some soreness issues with my thighs and just couldn't get beyond them. Going to try some bengay, motrin and rest the the rest of the day and maybe tomorrow too.

Emilyulm1 I was freaked about the lack of intervals as well and had intended to run with my trainer today but a scheduling conflict arose. I bit the bullet and I am glad I did. I did what I referred to as a jogging shuffle the whole time this allowed me to hydrate on the way. I did spill a little down the front but given the amount of sweat all over there was no way of knowing it! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I am still in week three and am freaking out by the lack of intervals. I use the walkig to rehydrate and to catch my breath, so to speak. I am afraid that I won't be able to do the full run in week 4, but I will try my best and not put a curse on myself. I hope when I get my first training day of week 4 in, I will be as happy about it as you are. Way to go!!

I was not so sure that I was happy to see the back of them, but I am very much encouraged that I made it through the first 35 minute run with limited issues.
At this point I can't say that I could go another step much less go on forever, but then again, when I started running intervals I never thought I'd get past the four minute mark!
I managed 2.55 miles in 37 minutes today! A respectable 15 minute mile!
