Starting Week 4 today! Totally not looking forward to it but I'm sure it'll be good for me in the long run. You see, I run on treadmills at the gym because I'm not an outdoors kind of person. But the gym is closed this week to get ready for fall preparations (I don't really understand it and I'm not going to try). I have a treadmill at home that I now use mainly for my walks but I no longer like to run on it because it always feels so much harder. And then I feel hemmed in since it's set in a corner and pointed toward a wall away from the room so I can't see anything but the wall. I've always felt strange about putting my back to a room - I really hate doing it. I'm the one who set the treadmill up this way and there was a method to my madness but now I regret it. Anyway, I've never run for longer than 20 minutes without stopping and I waa reading a book at the time so I wasn't paying attention to my body. My first 5k is Sept 17th and I can't read a book while running through the streets so I've been relying on music to concentrate on.
I said earlier that today's run was going to be good for me in the long run not for the obvious reasons but because my running mindset is centered in the treadmills at the gym. If I don't get used to running away from those treadmills, I'm going to have a super hard time running the 5k outside.
