Best of luck. I am not sure that this is advice, but just some things that I noticed for me when I ran my 5ks. I would make sure to pace myself. Don't go out with a big burst of energy, as you may not have much left to finish (I am not sure if you are okay with walking and running, but I like to challenge myself to run the entire thing). My biggest enemy is my mind and it was constantly telling me that I "can't". The legs and lungs were okay, but the mind, not so okay - so prepare to tell yourself that you CAN do this!!! Most of all, enjoy the energy around you, and enjoy spending time with your mom.
