OK, I finished week 3. Now I'm wondering if I will be able to run 35 min straight on Monday, after doing 4:1 intervals the past two weeks. It sounds impossible. But other people run 5Ks without walk breaks...will I ever be able to do it?

I did do day 1, but it was hard. But when I feel like stopping I think about how far I have come since I started a few months ago. I'm doing another 5k in December, and I'm hoping to be able to run the whole thing! emoticon

I'm finding week 3 to be doable, but hard. Wondering if I will be able to run 35 min straight on Monday? I've never run that long continuously before, 4 minute intervals have been my limit. For really long distances, though. :) Marathon distance.

Planning on doing my Trick or Treat Trot virtual run on Friday during the training run for 5K Your Way.

Week 3 I can't believe it!!! I pushed myself today (day 1) and have a new personal best pace 10:42 per mile! I can't believe I broke the 11 min mark! Ran 4.19 miles including my 7 min cool down , 3.71 miles in the 40 min run/walk!

A little late on this but I ran for 2.5 miles without stopping to walk for the first time in my life. I'm not in week 5 and my race is in two days. I'm excited!

I just started week three today. My pace was slow, but the run felt great. I love the cooler fall weather. I too have never run for 3 miles without walking ... hopefully I can be there by the end of this week too.

Started week three strong today, i hit the pavement hard and did better this time even though that last 10 hurt running outside, the best thing about this training is I am improving my time and seeing the pounds drop. I will post my mile results at the end of week 3

I'm a bit behind - just started week three when I should be starting week 4, but I'm still running at least 2x a week (and exercising/practicing yoga nearly every day that I'm not running). Not sure I'll make the 5K during the time period Spark has set, but I will make it!

Great job! You'll do great next week. I was nervous about the 35-40 minute jogs but I got through it and believe me - if I can do it, anyone can! Last week was supposed to be my last week but I was on vacation and only was able to get 2 jogs in so I'm just finishing up tomorrow. Good luck to you!

I did Day 1 of Week 3 yesterday on the elliptical and completed 4 miles at level 7. IT wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be and I had a good swim this morning, no stiffness.

I also had the same thought, next week is 35-40 minutes straight! Can I do it? It will be a first!

I just finished Day 1 of Week 3 and I made it to 3.51 - a little slower than day 3 last week. I can walk fast forever, but for some reason I have a tough time mentally getting through the minutes when I try to jog. I have my ipod, I have the tv on in front of me, I have a magazine and still I can't help but focus on the minutes. I haven't allowed myself to stop but it's tough. Maybe I'm trying to go too fast or something. I walk at 4.2 and try to jog anywhere from 5.4-5.6, bumping up to 6.0 for the last 30 seconds when I can. I think about next week and get nervous about jogging for 35-40 minutes straight! I've done it 1 other time in my life. We'll see how it goes.

Just finished week 3. I am slower than the others on the thread. I did 2.78 miles in 40 minutes. My run pace is 4.5 and I just can't imagine going any faster without dying. Kinda worried about next week, but I am just going to keep "running my race." I really do love this program because i honestly didn't think I could ever do this.

Day1/week3 - 3.31 miles in 40 minutes....I did get a stitch after 2 miles...for some reason. I am still glad I averaged a 12 min/mile.

day2/week3 - 3.16 miles in 40 minutes.....I purposefully took my time ( slower ) so that I am ready and fresh for race day on Saturday! emoticon

day3/week3 - today was my 1st RACE! I did well...ran 37:42!

This is my final week! I had to repeat week 3 (I think it was 3). It was terrible...Terrible. I really huffed and struggled thru it. FINALLY, at last...I did what I set out to do. I still struggle but I take a hit of ice water and keep going. I can't say it's easier for me. Would it make sense to say, it's just not as rough now? Im just glad I did it. It really is a helpful tool for conditioning for the walkathon coming up next month.

The jog 4 minutes and walk 1 minute is working well for me.

I am wondering how I'll handle going from that to no walking intervals at all next week. Seems like a major transition. Every time I start my running interval, I wonder how it will feel when I know there's no recovery interval coming up. I guess I should just get through this week and handle the next one when the time comes!

@2BEABETTERME - nothing wrong at all with repeating a week, especially since you have time before your race. emoticon

I am going to redo week 3. I was away this weekend and just to exhausted to get day 3 in at the hotel (I did walk an hour instead). My first race is a month away so I have plenty of time to get stronger.

W3D3 ~ 2.96 miles in 42 minutes ~ I'm wondering if I should be keeping the pace so it will get a little easier or if I should keep pushing each day to go farther in the same amount of time? It's not getting any easier but I am getting a little farther each night so I guess it's progress.
