W3 D3 done on Friday night. Felt GREAT actually. Took a new route, which I didn't realise had some killer hills. But managed to match my best distance of 4 miles! So I'm a very happy bunny.
Starting W4 D1 today. Massively nervous. Planning on taking it slow and steady and see where that takes me! Wish me luck! x

Week 3 Day 2 completed. It was actually killer! Didn't help that I accidently chose a really hilly route! Still made it though. I agree with what someone said below: some days seem quite easy, and other days it is really tough from the get-go. Such a fun programme though...I'm so glad I started this emoticon

Week 4 Day 1....I am taking a little variation on the training program. I am doing walk 1 minute, run 6 minutes and repeat 7 times. I add a couple minutes warm up and 4 minutes cool down. I realized I have a couple extra weeks to train before Halloween so I am going to use them to my advantage! I am really enjoying this so I didn't want to push myself too hard. I am going to become a runner and I don't have to rush. We went to the pier on Saturday and walked around looking at stuff, had some lunch and generally had a blast but I got sand in my sandals so the bottoms of my feet were a little tender on Sunday. This is a first....I listened to my body and decided to skip Sunday for my feet and run on Monday instead. I usually just pick a plan and proceed no matter what. This time I am doing it differently. I expect to be successful with this plan so I am going by how I feel not what I think. Trust me...that is a really different approach for me. Hope everyone does great this week!
Pam

Just finished with day 3 week 3. It went well but I did think I noticed some soreness in my left ankle and the little bit I notice in my knees every time I run. It is just a twinge but I am going to keep an eye on it. Since it is actually six weeks until Halloween I think I am going to add and extra week in there next week. I am thinking walk one minute run 6 minutes for 45 minutes. The other option I thought ob was drop the one minute walk every other set so walk one minute then run 8 minutes. I will decide Sunday just before I get on the treadmill. If I feel really good I will try the eight minutes of running. I am enjoying this so much I don't want any setbacks or do anything that will make it seem like work. I told my hubby last night, "Tomorrow's a run day!" I want to continue to feel that way so I am not going to push it too far too soon. That has been my mistake the other times I have tried running. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I am also feeling anxious about next week's jogging for 32 minutes. I guess I will see how long I can jog and gradually add more time each training day. This has been a great challenge for me so far. It would be more fun if I could find someone to do it with me, but reading everyone's posts helps. Great job everyone!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Week 3, Day 2 and I'm still loving it! I just finished with a smile. Today was a little more of a challenge but still well within doable. I'm sure some days are better than others even at this very early runner's stage. I can't help but wonder how I will do with the 35 minute runs next week. I have a tendancy to get ahead of myself. I can do this week so next will will happen next week. I am going on the tought that I have stuck to the training plan so I should be able to push through and do the runs that son't have little walk breaks. If I have to add a break here or there I will. After all I am way ahead of where I used to be even with walk breaks inserted. I am loving the calorie burn. It would take me almost twice the exercise time to burn this many calories with most of my other activities! Keep on pluggin' along!!!!!

Week 3 Day 1 and I'm still at it. Today I have a job interview but I decide to get up early to do my run. It makes me smile and that is a good thing esp at a job interview! I did well today. I did 3.9 miles in 45 (including warm up and cool down). It went fast. I still can't believe I am actually doing this and enjoying it. Tomorrow will be a cross training day on my Life Cycle which used to be my favorite but it seems boring now. If it weren't for doing my SP points I would be hard pressed to do it. I really like this running thing (so far). I think next week will be the defining moments with the continuous run but I will be ready. Good luck to everyone this week!

I'm starting Week 2 tomorrow! Eeeeek! I'm a bit nervous. I did Week 1 Day 3 yesterday, and it was really quite hard. I think I went a bit too fast though - 3.6 miles in the 36 mins! I think I'm gonna slow it right down tomorrow. I'm far too competitive for my own good lol
Good luck everyone. We can do this. Keep surprising yourself...it's soooo worth it

I, too had a hard time with no 1 minute rest. I did 13 mintues, walked 1 min, jogged again for another 13 min and walked again. I only did 30 min total. I was disappointed in myself. Wednesday will be W4 day 2 (35 min jog). I am determined to do this!

I am having a bit of a hard time as well.

I had to stop just ten minutes in and take a brief break. I was panting more than usual and I wasn't sure I was going to make it. I took a deep breath and started up again. I finished the 40 minutes and I pretty darn proud of myself. I am not sure if I am ready to give up my intervals just yet, but I just finished the last training for this week.

I am off to week four now and I am really not sure if I can do it--35 minutes jogging? No break? I am a little stressed. No way to know for sure until I try.

Here I go.

I've had a rough time with Week3. I've gotten thru Day 1 but have run Day 2 twice.
The first day I cramped up with side stitches. The 2nd day, I just felt out of sync and ended my run at 30 min/ 2.6 miles. I'm having a hard time going much past the 4min cycle with my breathing. I slow down my pace to help get me to 4 min and sometimes feel fine but take the interval rest anyway:) I'll just keep doing the Day 2 until I get it right.

Today is the final day for running this week. It is also that last day for the training regiment that calls for a 1 minute walk interval. I am a bit nervous about running consistently for 35-40 minutes without a walking break. I look forward to the walking breaks and I am not sure I am ready to do without.

I guess I will have to push myself and find out for sure. It is kinda scary though. But, it has gotta happen at some point. This is why I am training. I need to be ready.

Here I go.

I have had lousy runs all week. it is as if i can't get the pacing right. On Tuesday I boinked at about 15 minutes; Thursday I boinked at 22 minutes and today it happened at 22 minutes again. I am extremely frustrated!!!
Today I abandoned the run and walked much of it instead. Today's run was complicated by the fact that I forgot to bring water with me and the fact that it started to pour down rain. I decided I would try it again tomorrow.
I have mixed feelings about abandoning the intervals next week especially given my lack of success this week. I have asked my trainer to help pace me for the thirty minute runs. I am glad that I have been running fairly regularly over the last six months. If I had not been I might consider abandoning running entirely. Now I am just determined to get past this hurdle and get back on pace!

Had to scrap my run this morning, my legs were just hurting too bad. Going to try again later.

I agree, I'm ready to ditch the intervals and just run.

I've completed day one of week 3 and my knees are really bothering me. Any suggestions?

Use this thread to share how each of your week 3 training days went

How did you feel after the the training?

Were you able complete the full training?

How is your time improving?

Anything you'd like to share with the group?
