Due to a few minor injuries, and poor planning of my week, I am going to have to go totally weekend warrior on this running plan.

Wish me luck! emoticon

W2 Day 1 felt great!! As a former runner, I'm really pleased that I'm doing this (on the treadmill) and my arthritic knees don't hurt. I spent 6 months doing strength training on my legs before I was brave enough to try. Maybe one day I"ll be able to run outside again (on trail or track, can't imagine trying cement or asphalt).

I just finished week 2. The last day was a little more difficult, but I pushed through, and now I feel great! I still have no idea how far I ran, but I definitely feel energized. I'm really ready for week 3!

Good luck staying on track this week with your vacation Trish. It's extra hard to get motivated when you're away from home. At least it is for me. I've been on the road since Tuesday and have been struggling. I managed to get my three training runs in and tiny bit of strength in but my diet has been horrendous.

Today was my first 40 minute run and I was able to run the entire time. At 3.70 miles it is the longest distance I have ever continuasly run. It was very hard.

Week three promises to be even more challenging.

Good luck everyone.

I finished Week 1 today. Next week, my family is heading on a mini-vacation to an amusement park. We'll be gone Thursday through Sunday. So I am planning on doing the 3 days for Week 2 Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday. Not sure with all the things I have to get my children to when I'll get that last run in, but my goal is to get that in before we head out of town after lunch on Wednesday.

I skipped my training run yesterday. I very rarely skip something once I set my mind to it but I broke my own rule and didn't make it a priority yesterday. I could list all of the excuses I have but the truth is I just didn't want to, and I was stressed enough to give in to that. Whatever, I have my running shoes in the car and I'm hitting the trail as soon as I'm off of work. I'm going to make this a strong, healthy weekend.

I had a very hard 35 minutes today. My knees and hips hurt really bad. I guess that's what happens when you abruptly go from 2 miles a week to 11 miles a week. Tomorrow is my rest day. I 'm supposed to run again on Thursday. I'll probably jog in a field, where the grass is lower impact.

W2D2...made it through today's program - felt great! Then I walked 3 miles with my neighbor. Feeling it in my legs...whoa. :)

STUTLERTONI - good job on your "unofficial" start...best of luck this week!

Unofficial start to week two today. Trail ran this morning 1.55 miles in 18 minutes. I'm not counting it as an official training plan run because I was well short of the 35 minute goal time... But those hills were too challenging. My official runs this week will be on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I hope to run a full 3.1 miles each day.

OK - huge day! My legs felt like tree trunks this morning - Sequoias - 1000 years old and rooted for all ages. Then I read this morning on MIRAGE727 page that he walked the first 4 5Ks he participated in and I'm ok with that. So I did a speed walk this morning for 3.11 miles in 50 minutes! I still have 3 weeks to get that under 45 minutes. I'm really ok with that. Strength train three times per week and cardio six days per week. I can do this.

Well, at least a rainshower in the summer is nice and refreshing!

Just be sure to take cover if there is lightning!

oh i am so with you there team mates! i also didn't start out too well on my day1 of week 2. it was as though my legs had some heavy metals on them. and everything about me was saying it's not ok to run today better get off the track and rest this day out! but i didn't instead i kept thinking that it is training day and i gotta get it on! and mid of the run, guess what ? it rained! lol... so another reason to quit... but i didn't ... went slow so as not to slip and get injuries... and i finished it! yay! looking back, am still glad i did it and finished. i am learning that there are great running days and there are not so great days but it's important to run just the same!

and MBSHAZZLER...i got my new trainers duck wet! lol!

Sky, don't be discouraged. We all have those days. And heat and humidity can really do a number on you.

W2D1 - I don't know if it was the heat, the humidity or two days off, but today was brutal. I just didn't have any spirit at all - I'm so disappointed in myself.

Mimi, if it helps, you can record how much you paid for your shoes and then track your mileage on them. Most people can get between 250 - 500 miles on a pair. That can work out to pennies per mile!

GREAT job! And yes, if you need new trainers, do not hesitate! Get them! Running doesn't require a lot of equipment, but good shoes are a must, and totally worth the investment!

Week 2, Day 1 today and am patting myself on the back for staying motivated, especially during the halfway mark of intervals where I was starting to feel myself draining. Eyes on the prize!
