Have you checked out the SparkPeople official 5k ROOKIE running program? It's longer and starts out slower. I started there and it worked really well for me until my knee got stronger.
Now I am able to run 5k non-stop (without walking). I did modify the program also, I only did 2 runs per week and took a lot longer to finish.
