Good morning,

I started this program a few weeks ago. It took a little time to find the right shoes, then they were cheaper online, so I decided to just start over.

I'm really glad I did. Just loving the shoes, working on stretching before and after, taking my time and doing it. It was an early morning run yesterday. It was so beautiful and cool.

Well, the 5K is four weeks from today and the rules said not to enter if you are unable to finish in one hour.

I can do this.

Yea, week 1 is done!! For me this is quite an accomplishment since I also traveled during this time which is usually when I fall of the wagon (or run off track - lol).

Today I did the final workout for week 1 and it was a little difficult. My calves and toes were a little sore, but I did push through the workout and completed the workout in 45 min/ and 3.1 miles.

During the week I also was encourged by a friend to join her in a 5K on July 4th. So I signed up and will use that run as part of my program. I am not sure what type of time I will get, but I just want to have this be my first run after the foot surgery. It was 1 year ago July 4th that I made a committment to learn how to run - so to say after 1 year that I do like it and am able to run a 5K is quite a accomplished goal for me. This run is kind of a baseline run to see where I am at after the foot surgery and physical therapy program I've finished in late May. I previously ran 2 other 5K's before the surgery and was at a 32 min 5K. I don't mind starting over - I just says that I can continuously get better as I use this program.

Have a great weekend - log some miles!!
