I did my virtual 5K yesterday (7/26/14) and I fininshed in 1:12:25. I did cross a busy road twice and had to wait for traffic. Next time I will route so I am not crossing any busy roads.

Just completed my first virtual race, 46.05, had to walk the last half mile, but that's okay. We're off today for our camping trip on the beach - California's northern coast, lots of fog and cool weather - I can't wait. I will be unplugged for most of the week, but I'm going to take serious advantage of the beach trails and redwood trails for walking, jogging, and hiking while I'm there.

I did my first 5-K with my family last Saturday and walked it because I was healing from a bad runner's knee. It was the Greater Chicago Food Depository, 29th Annual Hunger Walk and it was not only really meaningful but also enjoyable. (I wouldn't have been able to run it anyway, but the good news is that I can start jogging again in small increments!) Woo hoo!

I just finished my 3rd Virtual 5K with a PR of 50:58. This was the first time I did more than just walk, and I gotta say, I'm fairly proud!

I'm not ready to move on to the next team, so I think I'll stick with walk/jog for a little while longer. I love this team!

So excited! I did my personal 5k walk/jog today in 42 minutes. I pushed my little girl in her stroller and am excited that I shared this moment - and most of the training - with her. Although she is only four months old, I am confident that while I am helping myself, I'm also helping her learn the value and joy of being active.

I finished this program in about two months, doing some of the weeks twice. I gave birth in October 2013 after a tough pregnancy that included a lot of bed rest. I. Am. Thrilled!

I'm going to do another week or two of the 5k walk/jog and then begin the 5k jog program also here on SparkPeople. :) My first 5k race is on April 5 with a few friends.

I did my race on Saturday 12-21-13! I had set a goal for myself of 49 minutes and I completed the race in 49 minutes and 32 seconds, so I consider myself a success. I had such a good time - Please look at my blog for pictures. I was wearing a brace, but my knee held up and I felt really great about being in the running community again. I had forgotten about the bridges and hills, so I was even more proud to have finished with that time. I am also encouraged to do more races.

I did it!!! I did my 5k walk/jog today and I did it in 44:46:91! Awesome and I feel awesome! So now I have done the "5K Your Way Walking Plan in 55 minutes, and the "5K Your Way Walk/Jog Plan" in the above time now as of Monday I am starting the "5K Your Way Running Plan"!!!!

Congrats, Chrissy! Proud of you for finishing - and jogging all the way! I'll get back there again, but it's going to take me a bit, lol. Be careful about that knee, tho - sharp pains are a warning that you need to really pay attention to your body. The fact that it worked out and you could run again is really good. I have two thots that you may already have covered, but just in case you haven't - or somebody else is having a similar problem... 1) get professionally fitted for running shoes. If your feet turn in or out or you have another foot issue, they can get a shoe that will help - and that can do wonders for knees. 2) run with an experienced runner or running coach who can see how you stride and maybe make some suggestions that will both make you more efficient in running and also reduce chances of injury. Unsolicited advice, lol, I know - so take it or leave it ;-) Once again - congratulations on a job well done!

This is the third time I'm trying to post here, I keep hitting something and my message disappears!
Congratulations Crystal - great timing!
I ran my first 5k this morning. Its a gorgeous fall day in the Laurentians (north of Montreal), about 11 degrees celsius when I went out (about 52 fahrenheit).
I noticed after the half-way mark, my breathing became deeper and I settled into a comfortable stride, but coming up just before my last half km, my right knee started giving me sharp pains (not my bad knee, the other one), so I started taking tiny little steps, but kept jogging, not walking! After a while, it recovered somewhat so I was able to return to my regular stride. I wasn't doing this for speed, just wanted to do it, but my time was 43 mins 10 seconds, not as fast as Crystal! BUT I DID IT!!!

i did my first virtual 5k and was totally psyched that i had mad it at all and stuck to the 5 weeks of training. i finished in 38.18 minutes (yes, the .18 makes a difference to me because it's a goal to improve!) and i suddenly see this as something i do for the rest of my life. i loved it!

Last Saturday, I ran my first 5K. It was freakin' exhilarating! LOVED IT! I'm starting to look at other races, such as one in dedication for Halloween!!

I did the color run in Buffalo NY today. I "run" slowly but I ran most of it until the blister that formed because my arch support was in the wrong place became too painful. I made it in about 50 minutes.
My next goal is the turkey trot 8K in November.

6 days later but finally posting. I had to walk my 5K on 8/10/13 but I was ok with it. We did take a friends not quite 3 year old with so when he was out of the stroller we did a little 'jogging' but my knee yelled uncle real quick. So one hour and one minute later we crossed the finish line. Goal for next year...if I can't jog it I want to walk it in 45 minutes. Oh yeah, one more thing. Someone put hills on this 5k steep ones. Success!

Yesterday was my 1st 5K, I think it was more walk than jog. Still I completed it. It was a goal that I had set for prior to donating my kidney. I've lost weight, completed a 5k, both of my wife's kidneys come out tomorrow and she will get mine in about 2 weeks. Next 5k will run the whole distance.

It's been way more than 5 weeks, but yesterday I jogged an entire fun run 5K! 44 minutes--not my best time, but my goal wasn't for speed, but for going the distance, and I did!

Race day was awesome i am pretty proud this course was a lot tougher then i thought i couldn't run up the hill because of my groin injury so i walked it was 3 rolling hills elevation gain of 278 was tough but done then ran 1.5k with two 1 min walk breaks great over all came in at 58:13 I was pleased! will post pictures later on my blog.
