Did the workout today. I felt really good Ran faster than I had been when doing the training on my own. I tend to job longer but a LOT slower. I did find the last leg of running was a little bit of a struggle.

I can do this!!

Week 3 day 1. did 25 minutes running most of the time, did total of 2.26 miles in 25 minutes, I didn't want to exercise today and had to push myself all day.

Not following the program but at least i'm trying

You can move yourself around but if you leave it alone the program will move you. At least it did me.
Go to your program where you track you run
under 'Your program preferences' is 'My current week'
change it to what you want and click 'save preferences'

So glad to hear others talking about re-doing. I did week 3 day 2 on Thursday and am struggling at the last 15 seconds of running. Was suppose to do 3/3 yesterday but between company picnic that I completely execute and my car breaking down on Friday night no time. So I plan on doing it today. If I'm still struggling for those last 15 seconds I'm going to do it at least one more time. Even if it means being behind. I don't want to move on to the next, not be able to do it and give up!

Planned on doing redoing Week 3 day 2, but ended up modifying and doing a cross between that and Week 4 day 1, and finished out the 5K in 47. 26 with walking/jogging intervals. I'm running in a race, and I use the term running, very, very lightly, with my daughters on October 20th and they close the course in 47 minutes. My goals is to cross the finish line before they close the race and start the 10K, which my other daughter is running.

So, I guess I should post in Week 4. emoticon

Don't feel too behind. I am there with you. I ran on Sunday but work went nuts and now I am struggling to be able to do any running. I try to jog around my work station but being in dispatch I can't leave it to go somewhere else bigger to run. Running in place isn't exactly working so I'm hoping to get more time off soon.

Repeated Day 3 of Week 3 with more favorable results than last week... but now I'm behind on week 4... the stomach virus fairy has visited our youngest son (10 yrs) and so the workouts have literally gone to the potty this week emoticon Maybe tonight I can get back to it after I get caught up at the office....a bit overwhelmed but still very blessed emoticon

68ANNE, Consider yourself lucky. Some people just take a while to warm up and then they can go like mad. Others are wiped out after the first mile. I'm not an expert, but I would make sure I "warmed up" by running a mile before an actual race. Perhaps checking out a running book or magazine would give you some answers.

I looked but haven't found anyone talking about this problem,so here it is.

I start my run and find it very difficult to finish the full time til walking but toward the end of the run I can run much farther and much faster. So the question is how can I get a good run in if it takes me two miles just to be able to run?

Stretch your hammies and quads. I'm sure you can find good stretches on SP. I use a yoga strap, lie on my back, loop the strap around my foot and gently pull my straight leg toward my head. Then I extend that leg toward the left and then the right, holding each static stretch for 30-45 seconds. When you finally put that leg back down, it feels inches longer than the unstretched one. To do my quads, I lie on my belly and grab hold of my ankles...a strap is helpful if you can't reach.

I would highly recommend looking up stretches on SP for more detailed examples. Good luck.

Heading into wk3! my knee has been giving me grief...when i squat down, it feels like its expanding and hurts pretty bad. I can still run without any problems. Its just when I squat that it feels so bad. Any thoughts on this?

I completed W3D2 today. Half of it in the rain as well (rained most of the day today in London). Really proud of myself for not giving in.

When I'm finding it hard on any workout I think of the Biggest Loser workouts and 'finishing strong'. Sometimes pretending that I'm on a 'last chance workout'!!! It works for me :-)
I do the same route each time and there is one stretch which I find the hardest (slight incline). I I dread it as I approach it, but today it wasn't too hard as I slowed it down.

W3D1 done! Hooray! I also surprised myself. I keep thinking I'll repeat a week if I'm not ready, but when I give it a try, I seem to be able to do it with not too much trouble. It probably helped that I took a day of rest from exercise yesterday ... first in a long while. I just felt like I needed it, and I did! I'm learning to listen to my body. Sometimes it knows best :)

Week 3 day 3 absolutely stunk. Started wheezing, couldn't even jog the 1.5 minutes I did last week, so I backed off. Jogged when I could for as long as I could, then walked, then jogged again until I reached the 5K mark. I figured duration would make up for intensity. I will be repeating week 3 next week.

W3D2 completed...my time distance was slightly less...hmm I thought it should have been more. I completed but today was a bit of a struggle...early in the workout my left calf began to cramp up...been battling this since the beginning----pulled a muscle in it about a month and a half ago---but it usually just feels tight at the end...this came on early and I had to tough it out all the way through...but I did finish and I did keep the MPH up.

WOW, I have surprised myself!!!I did W3D1 and ater dreading it all weekend and thinking I would not be able to run the full 2 min. I did...and did it quite well, once again improving my distance/time. I did W2D3 on an empty stomach and REALLY struggled....I had oatmeal this am and 1/2 hour later did the workout and felt great...was tired and it was a bit challenging but I am optimistic now for the rest of the program!!!
