Went to the Club Friday Night...

Had a nice surprise at the entrance. As we turned into the club road there stood a nice doe and a buck. The buck still had one side of his antlers...looks like he probably was an 8pt

June 07...I saw the neatest thing one day on a walk!

My neighborhood was on the edge of a farmer's field and I was taking Rocky Dog for a walk. He stopped to do his business so I was just standing there looking down the edge of the field along the woodsline. I saw this rabbit running and zip he went right into the woods. Well right behind him was a deer...chasing him!!! I swear that deer chased that rabbit right up to the woods then it stopped. It stood there for about 10 sec watching where the rabbit had gone into the woods. He looked around and that's when he noticed me standing there. Then zip he was gone too!

I know you Outdoor Lovers have seen and experienced some neat things so here's where to tell your stories...I'll start!!!

Many moons ago...my DH and I was spending the night in our boat on the north side of Kelley's Island. There is a nice State Park there and they have a stone breakwall that does a horseshoe around part of the Northshore of the Island. It makes a nice little cove and is great for safety during a storm or sneaking in and docking for the night if the Park Ranger doesn't catch you.

This particular morning, at the crack of dawn (5:30-6:00 AM), we were awaken by a commotion outside. We looked out the cabin door to see a deer struggling to crawl out of the water onto the swim platform of a boat tied up a couple of boats away.

Of course the other people who had dodged the ranger and spent the night on their boats were coming to see what was going on too. A couple of Yahoos grabbed a dock line and tried to lasso the deer. I don't know what they thought they were going to do drag a frighten kicking deer onto the breakwall???

Well the frighten deer wanted no part of all the people popping out of their boats. It quickly turned and swam the long distance across the cove back to the Northshore as we all sat in our boats watching. We were all happy and relieved when that deer finally emerged from the water onto the beach. That poor tuckered out deer just stood there for about 10 minutes. You could tell it was exhausted and trying to catch it's breath. Then like a flash it was gone...up over the hill, out of sight!

It was a pretty exciting morning!
