Marta, how cool to get a medal! We just got a t-shirt--LOL. I was in 5th place as well (but not last place), but I've got a long way to beat the other 4. Apparently, they run often and have run for a long time. Their time was almost half of mine!

I might just check out Sparks 10K. Sounds formidable but like I said before, never say never.

HI Suezette.
No special award for my age group. Everyone received a medal for completing the race. I was 5th in my age group. My time was 37.13 which apparently would have been good enough for first in my age group in other races. I was just thrilled to be able to run the whole thing, including the uphill slope on the way back. My biggest satisfaction was passing all the runners half my age who were walking up the slope near the end.

Congrats! Did you get an award in your age group?
Spark has a 10k training/running program too but there isn't a group for it.

Finished mine too. Did mine in intervals though. Good for you for running straight through. My lungs are just not there yet. It was frustrating because my legs felt good, Like I wanted to keep running but I was huffing and puffing after about 4 min of running. Oh well. I will keep training and run through the 5K this fall.

That is exhilarating about the age thing and running up the slopes. Congrats!

Thanks Dispatcher. I remember reading your story about puking and was praying that wouldn't happen to me LOL. The 8 weeks of training really paid off. I was never a couch potato even at my top weight but running is a new thing for me.

Good job, Marta. I'm only 40, and I puked over the finish line and walked up the hills.

Finished my first ever 5K run today without slowing down even on the slopes. Felt absolutely amazing. Now what? A 10K? LOL.. I was one of only 10 people out of over 500 running who were over the age of 60. Wonder if any of them has lost 95 pounds over the past year.
When I signed up for the Run, I was pretty sure I'd have to walk part of it and/or do a slow jog. I passed many younger people on the slopes who resorted to walking. Unreal feeling of accomplishment.
