Suezette-This article was spot on! I concentrated on my breathing (deep breaths not shallow) and did not get a side stitch at all! I felt so good, that I actually completed a 5K distance! So excited and feeling really good! Thanks again!

Maybe your pushing too much when your runnung. You could try and slow it down to a trot. I did that when I found ift difficult to breathe deep breaths. I increased my run time little by little just by slowing down. Each day I pushed myself a little further on the distance.
If the cramps continue I'd consult with your MD.

I find it still difficult to run a full 5K. I am still barely able to do walk 1/run 4 so I decided to stay in week 7 and slowly build up to a 5k on my own terms. Does anyone have any ideas of how to keep from getting side aches? I'm always getting a side ache and that puts me in walk mode. I don't know how to keep it from happening. :-(
