Woo hoo finished my 5k! it took me about 43 minutes, but I didn't see what my exact time was so I'll probably see in a couple of days if they post it. The race was so fun, it was completely underground and it's always fun to see how positive and energetic everyone is.
on Feb 17th I have my next race. It is 4 miles so a bit longer. I'm going to look and see if I can find another 5k that's in a couple of months. I would love to be able to jog the whole way in a race!
For today's run I did a practice 5k to see how long it would take me. and it took about 43 minutes. I did running intervals of 1-3 minutes throughout and walked at a pretty brisk pace during my recovery. So tomorrow I will try to rest up as best I can and then Sunday is the big race and then it's onwards to week 5!
Got my run in today and I did the week 4 run again today. I think I did really well considering I have a bit of a cold. I did have to extend the final interval before the running in order to catch my breath, but the running seems to be getting at least slightly easier.
My 5k race is this Sunday so I am excited for that. I will probably try and do a week 4 run on Friday and then hopefully I will be ready to move onto week 5 next week.
Just finished another week 4 run. I was able to run all of the intervals, but needed more than 2 minutes of walking to recover. I'm pretty proud of how well I did considering I was sooo tired after work yesterday since I was booked solid. I don't think I'm ready to move on to week 5, but I'm feeling pretty good about the last couple of runs I've done.
I hadn't been able to make it to the gym in quite a few days, so I was glad to finally get a run in today although I was able to do some toning workout videos at home this week so at least that is something. I did a week 4 run with all of the 3 minute intervals today so I am proud of that, and I didn't even need to extend the walking intervals to catch my breath which is a first. I've noticed my runs are VERY much dependent on my energy level and load at work. Since I didn't have as many massages the last two days it made the run today pretty easy actually and had more of a spring in my step.
The 5k race I signed up for is in 2 weeks so I am getting excited about that. I know I won't be able to run the whole way, but it will be exciting to see where I will be at.
I have just been feeling exhausted lately. It's been a really busy week in general so I think that may be contributing to it. I went to the gym on friday but only could run a couple of minutes and was pretty tough so I decided to walk instead.
I'm planning on going this evening, but I'm feeling pretty tired again so I might just walk again. I'm kind of having a hard time deciding how hard to push myself because I want to do the runs, but I've just felt so exhausted this week and I don't want it to affect my work since this is the busy time of year and I don't see myself having fewer massages each day until maybe march or so.
Well today's run wasn't as great as Sunday's.I ran the first two intervals but then started getting side cramps so I ended up walking the rest of the time. I'm still proud I was able to make it to the gym and at least do something. Before I would have given up. I think giving myself permission to just go for a walk has really made the difference since the "all or nothing" thinking really wasn't doing me any favors. And I was able to do at least some of the running so that's always a good thing.
I will be really busy tomorrow and thursday so I'm planning my next workout on Friday so we'll see how that goes :)
That's great! I think what I love about running the most is when I surprise myself like that. The mental game to push myself harder and then when I do push and I make it through and I LIVE through it!! WOW! LOL
I was really scared to try the longer running 3 minute intervals today, but I did it and they weren't nearly as bad as I had built them up to be in my mind. I did do a longer walk to recover before the last interval, but I was surprised that for the first 3 intervals I was actually able to recover with the two minutes of walking. That made me feel really good like I am making some good progress. I have tuesday and friday off of work this week so I am going to try and do my other two runs those days. I hope they will go as smoothly as today's run has.
