I was sick yesterday, so I didn't run... I wrote it off as a missed training day, but I did run today. I went to a track in Fairhaven. I figured what the heck, I can't remember the last time I was on a track... OK I can... It was 1997 and I was still in the Army. Anyway, I'm only doing two of the scheduled 3 runs this week. I like that I went to a track, because It was a little easier to see what kind of pace I was running, but I definitely won't be making a habit of it. It's so much nicer when the scenery changes. I'll see you in week 5!
Today's run really surprised me! I took an extra day off before starting this week because my foot and ankle muscles needed a little extra time for recovery. I've never really used them this much before. I expected this week to be harder than last week, but instead it felt easier... the running portion didn't feel any longer than last week and when My GymBoss signaled that I was done after the 5th interval, I had totally forgotten that there wasn't going to be a sixth. I couldn't believe how easy it felt!
I really didn't push myself very hard because I knew I'd be running longer than last week. I ran a route that I had run earlier to see how much further I'd go this week, and it turned out that I ran about the same distance. I think it's because I was concentrating more on my form and I'm taking shorter strides than I had been before, which I think is actually a good thing. I'll probably push a little harder on the next run since this one seemed so easy. I'm actually looking forward to the next one...
