I think the program is a nice guideline to follow, especially when you are new to running. It helps you gradually build up your endurance and cardiovascular fitness. However, I think you can modify the plan to fit your needs/energy levels, as long as you don't push yourself too hard.

did my second dist. workout tonight 3min/walk, 3min./run for 39min. 5k, now does it matter that I do 3/3 splits, I'll do 2/3 splits Monday night. And next wk. I plan to do 2/4 splits. I've been adding Hill workouts in. once/wk. and hope to do some speed work 1day/wk.
