Food - you have to experiment with what is right for you.

Race day - make sure you do a warm up before the actual race. Walk quickly or jog slowly for a few minutes before the start.

Race - don't start too fast. You'll burn out to quickly.

Important, hydrate well the day before the race and make sure you rehydrate after.

Most important - have fun and enjoy!!

I always start out jogging, when you are with the starting pack it usually pushes we to not only increase my speed but to go farther than I would on my own. As for food, that is up to you, have a couple test mornings to see what works for you. I usually have a piece of toast with PB. go light on the water, too much sloshing in your stomach is not good! Good Luck...hope this helps, it is what works for me.

Since I am running my first 5K on February 18th and I will only have completed week 6 of my training, I need some advice, what to eat, how much to drink, start out running or walking, and on and on? Any advice would be extremely helpful.
