I've found that some Yoga Sun Salutations (Mountain, forward bend, downward dog, plank, alligator, cobra, reverse) are perfect for an after run stretch! emoticon

I do it for the joy it brings, because I am a joyful girl. ~Ani Difranco

Oh good! Thanks for checking. I use my Cardio Blast DVD w/Coach Nicole to cool down after I run. I just fast forward it following any of the workouts on there and stop it right before the cool down starts. Works great on the legs and it's not dragged out. The next day it rare for me to have any aches or pains at all.

Well worth the 10.00 investment!! : )

Lets RUN with the wind!!

GMONDELLO - You were right about the stretching. As I took a better look at the article this morning, it said to do the stretching AFTER the run and that it was better to NOT stretch before the run. So that's what I tried this morning. I'll have to see over the next few runs if it helps!

The first few times I ran I didn't stretch at all... the little bit of stretching I have been doing before hand has made a slight difference - I feel a little looser. I'll let you know how the stretching routine goes tomorrow :)

** I found the routine on the 5K email for week 4... there was a link to it there. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll try to dig it up again :)

Good luck!! Sounds like your almost there!!

Note:
I thought stretching before was a no-no. Haven't been but if its working for you let me know which page the routine is on and I'll try it. Right now I'm just doing a cool down/stretch after I run. I'm also doing some leg lifts w/weights to strengthen. It seems to be helping. I dropped 4 mins on my last run.!

Lets RUN with the wind!!

Tomorrow is my last run for the week 3 routine. I'm hoping to be able to go for the full 2 minute jog on all 6 rounds. I made 5 of them last time...

I also downloaded a 30 minute running stretching routine from one the articles here on SP. I'm hoping it limbers me up some for my run and prevents some achiness later on in the day. The stretches I have been doing have been very quick, about 5 minutes in total, and very basic.
