I'm in my second week but am going at my own page. I run 3 times a week. the first two times i walked 4, ran 1.
the second 2 i cranked it up a little bit, walking 3.5 and running 1.5
and yesterday i was able to crank it up to 3 walking 2 running.

i signed up on a whim, i am NOT a runner. It's not something i watch others do and go "oh i wish i could do that" lol. i just sort of jumped in thinking, i do so many other things i'll add another things and give it a whirl emoticon
but it's pretty exciting to see progress already emoticon

Finished Week 2 and plan on doing another session today. Beginning Tuesday on Week 3 and hoping I am capable. Week 2 was a tough one.

On Friday, I did the full 25 minutes (5 cycles rather than 4). I think what I'll do is 5 cycles again on Monday, and then 6 cycles on Wednesday and Friday, just to make sure that I don't push myself too far too fast.

I was all happy and excited to log in and say that I had done day 2 of week 2...only to discover that I have not been doing what I should be doing this week. I got this week's pattern confused with last week's pattern, I guess: I've been doing 3 minutes of walking and 2 of running, but only repeated the pattern 3 times, rather than 4, for a total 20 minute workout. What should I do now? Is there nothing for it but to do week 2 over again? Drat, I can't believe I messed this up.

Don't be nervous. You made it through Week 1. I know you can handle Week 2. It doesn't matter how fast you go or how many miles you do. Just have fun and get it done! I always start each week taking it kind of easy and then try to improve as the week goes on. Then by the end of each week I'm so pumped I can't wait for the next week. BTW, I just wrapped up Day 1 of Week 4 so you aren't too far behind me.

I did an easy elliptical workout today, got really warmed up, and stretched like crazy. Better. Think I'll try starting over next week and go more slowly.... The bike is a great idea, too; doesn't hyperextend the hips so much. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks!

I started week two and before I was half done with the first workout of the week I had to stop because of severe sciatic pain. I'm guessing piriformis spasm or something. Not hamstrings, not back. Hurts just to drive the car with my foot on the gas pedal. Maybe cross country skiing had aggravated it. Very painful trying to stretch it. I'm resting it now, very discouraged.

I slipped on the ice on Saturday and fell on my knee, which was kind of painful, so I didn't run on Sunday. It's healing now, just hurts a little when touched. Then it snowed about four inches and the temperature dropped to weather-warning levels (it's been -30 here in Saskatchewan since Sunday night, and today it is minus 45 with the windchill). I'm really frustrated, as I do not have access to a treadmill and don't think I should run when it's this cold. Would just walking the whole way be okay? I have an exercise bike...should I get on this to try keep the training going? Or should I just wait and pick up where I left off when the weather breaks?

I use a GymBoss. It's an interval timer. You can check them out on Amazon.
I also use a Garmin but that is pricey.

I got delayed at the beginning, so I am in week two even though my training plan thinks I'm in week 3. I might have to do week two twice...I didn't get to run last night as it was very icy. When running outside, how does a person check their time? I guess a stopwatch or watch with a second hand is the way to go, but that seems a little dangerous (I'm kind of clumsy and need to look where I'm going!). Any suggestions?

Well I did W2D2 and yoga as planned tonight. Shins are feeling a bit sore. Makes me think I may want to stay in Week 2 a bit longer & repeat it, then go back at it.

I'll see how Friday is. May do the walk/run on Saturday instead.

Woohoo - you're all doing great!!!!

Nalay, I did Wk2,D1 today with the exact same distance as you - 1.84 miles. Not sure if I'm tracking that accurately but I don't really mind, only mapped it because Spark wanted me to enter a distance.

I'm pretty exhausted now but I think that's more due to a long day than the exercise part of it.

P.S. My apologies to anyone moderating this - in my overtired state I hit "report inappropriate post" instead of reply and didn't notice till it was too late. Sorry! emoticon

Finished week 2!!! The first couple intervals of running were the hardest, but then my body (er...my LEGS) were like "fine, we'll run" and then all was good! I admit I'm looking forward to the weekend break from running. My poor legs need some rest.

Did day two today! I woke up feeling tired and almost hit the snooze (I have a streak of not hitting the snooze going though, which is why I crawled out of bed instead). It was harder than day one, and the third interval was ROUGH. But I just kept imagining all the races I'm going to be running and I completed all my intervals WITHOUT STOPPING!!!!

*insert happy dance here*

Day three! Ima coming for you!

Did W2D1 today. I was a little nervous because not only was I increasing my total running time from 1 minute to 2 minutes, but it was the first week I switched my workouts to the morning instead of the evening. Wasn't sure I'd be able to get up. But I went to bed early, slept hard, and was awake before my alarm clock even went off. And I ran! I did the entire duration. I didn't have to stop. I had to slow down a little (week 1, I ran at 4.5-4.8 mph, week 2, I ran at 4.2 mph), but otherwise I was completely fine. And I feel great now! emoticon
