You're welcome, INDIECARGIRL! Somehow I missed your post and just now saw it. Hope you're all better now & FANTASTIC on getting through. Whoo-Hoo!!!

Tuesday is going to be W5D1 for me, and I don't know why but I am SUPER psyched about it! emoticon Maybe it's this awesome weather, or the fact that week 4 went so well after day 1... dunno, but I am READY! Let's keep shuffling!! LOL

Oh, and yeah - that mantra idea from Suezette just made me fall in love w/ her right away! Isn't it GREAT? I apply that every time I run now - not constantly, but any time I start to flag. Spark People are the best!!!

Thank you so much ladies ...for your well wishes and the ideas below- I went out there today for the first time for a week thinking I've got to get back into it and wasn't at all sure if my knees were going to be ok or even if I could still 'shuffle' along.

Well it was great - I used the mantra idea " I can do this/My legs are strong" , felt energized, felt like running more than the plan and best of all my knees didn't twang at all.
Forward we go!

Shuffling -- I like that term River!! I hope the park where you jog is really pretty! I do my workout at the track next to my son's elementary school. Wish the scenery was better than soccer bleachers ha ha :) It is AWESOME to feel stronger -- I totally agree with you!!! Going into this, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it. I thought I would have all sorts of pain and crunchy knees because I was soooo overweight for so long. But, thank God....no problems like that so far. I'm shocked...but SO happy at the same time!

Thanks Suzette....I feel like the slow turtle sometimes....but then again, the turtle beat the rabbit, right? Slow & Sure is sometimes best! I can already tell a difference in my legs. It's getting easier, but still a great workout!

Don't be worried about your pace right now. There are a lot of things to take into consideration where pace is concerned, weather, humidity, sleep, fueling, rest, etc.

Just keep getting out there and going the distance!

HaHaHa that's just what I was thinking about myself yesterday in the park! emoticon

I told hubby that I was 'shuffling' lol

Isn't it GREAT to feel the strength & progress coming along, though? I just kept telling myself (THANKS for the mantra idea, SUEZETTE!!!) that "I was strong, I can do this, I'm getting better all the time"... and it works! Not only has my breathing gotten stronger but I think I can tell a difference in my legs already, too.

You are doing great, Whoo-hoo JULINC!!!

Indicargirl - sorry to hear you aren't feeling well! Hope you get better soon!

Did my walking/jogging this morning at the track....on Friday I will move on up to week 3.

So far so good!

I think my pace is a bit slow though.....does that matter?? I can tell I have gotten stronger in the month I have been working the program....but I feel like my jog is just a bouncier walk. lol

I was all set for week 2 but will now have to repeat it with the sore throat and feeling under the weather happening. My knees have been a bit crunchy so I'll take this time off to do some knee muscle strengthening exercises and hope that will help.

That's a great goal! I think we're thinking alike in this. I am planning my 1st race Nov 6th, but with the idea that if training is delayed a couple of weeks, I'll just do my best walk / jog routine. It will still be great.

suzette -- I agree....humidity just makes me feel like a limp dishrag. So glad to see the hot summer temps going bye bye!!

Tricotyne....sorry to hear you have been so sick! Glad you are feeling better!!

River..same here...I'm being careful and repeating weeks when i feel I need a couple more workouts before I increase. So far so good...but I'm not going to hurry and risk injuring myself. I want to be finishing up week 4 by the end of October. I added that as a goal for the month. :)

I repeated week 2 too, just because I want to lay a really strong foundation and the first 2 days of week 2 I couldn't do it perfectly... now I am doing it without any trouble and yesterday I almost did the extra interval to make it a wk 3 train, but I resisted. It might be okay for some people to push ahead when they can, but I'm coming from a history of injury & self-sabotage, so I'm trying to be extra careful. Tuesday is soon enough for week 3 - at least I'm progressing, & it feels GREAT!

TRICOTINE, I wish you a quick recovery emoticon

God job on listening to your body! emoticon

I will be redoing week 2 as well. I had to interrupt my program because I caught Pneumonia but I had planned to redo it anyway 3/1.5 minutes the first time and then 3/2 the second time. I was afraid a jump from 4/1 to 3/2 was too harsh on me... I had no problem doing 6 intervals though, but that is because I did 6 weeks (it is supposed to be 5 weeks but I adjusted the program to suit my abilities) of the Walk/Jog Program which ended with 3/2 x 6 intervals.

After being sick, I am not sure how I will be doing though...

Anyway, good luck to you! emoticon

I finished week 2 today, but I'm going to give the week another go. And then I will add the extra interval for week 3.

So far so good....it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. No pain or any problems like that. The two minutes is definitely as long as I can jog at this point, and by the 5th interval I'm running out of steam. One more week outta get me past that....and then I'll be ready for the extra one. :)

The cooler weather is so awesome! So much easier to jog/walk at the track when it isn't hot!
