Week 5 day two. Yesterday I was on a photo shoot and managed to get in about 8000 steps but it was an off and on walk. Today the weather sucks so I'll probably only get about 30 minutes in. It is all good I probably need the rest.

I'm doing my 5k today. I have been dwn with the MS flares for the last week so I haven't been doing much trying to save my energy for today. I signed up for it so I'm doing it. It may take me half a day to do it but I'm pushing through it. Wish me luck. I need it.

I'm torn. I did the last day of week 4 today. (I started on a Thursday, and didn't realize that it would screw up the weeks on the planner.) When I started this, I was just going to do the virtual 5k, but my church is having a 5k charity walk/run on October 5. So, do I taper this week and do the virtual 5k, or keep adding time/distance in the same pattern and taper in two weeks before the outdoor 5k? Or, since we're going to San Francisco this week and will be walking a lot, up and down hills, do I sort of forget official training altogether and pick up at week 5 next week?

I had to put off my race for a couple of days, but I went 3.17 miles today in 69 minutes. Woo hoo! My 5K wasn't about speed but endurance - I kept a steady pace, only pausing occasionally for a sip of water or waiting to cross a street. It's great to know that I can do it, and I plan to keep walking the rest of the summer, and enter the annual 5K run/walk here in my town this fall. Thanks, SparkPeople, for making this training plan available!

I did my emoticon yesterday, a couple of days earlier than I had planned. Didn't break any speed records, but I determined that I can do it without dying. emoticon I think I want to work up to more speed eventually. At least I got up off the couch for a while, so maybe I can keep going.

I got off the training schedule with some other distractions and responsibilities, but I still did the 5K because I had committed to doing it. emoticon
