I did my 5K yesterday, and completed it in 52 minutes! I plan to do another Thanksgiving morning at our local YMCA.

Would have done it earlier, but the bad weather got in the way. I got new shoes, good quality running shoes, properly fitted. But by the time I was 3/4 of the way through, my left foot hurt so bad I couldn't go on. So I stopped and took the doggoned shoes off and finished in my bare feet. Took 70 minutes which isn't bad for a couch potato age 71.

Congrats to all who did their 5K this weekend.

CBRIGGS1956 - we don't have a thread or place that has been started to post finish results. Sounds like a great idea though, so would you like to start a thread for it?

I walked my 5K last weekend, in the Oakland Step Out for Diabetes walk. I finished last, but I finished. My time was one hour and 40 minutes. Next year I plan to finish more quickly and to raise more money.

I finished my 5k walk race yesterday and am pretty pleased with the results, I am going to try for a walk/run next. How do I see how my results stacked up with the other walkers on the team?

emoticon I did it - Today is the race day; I actually sign up for an event scheduled today and make this my week 5 final day - Race day
I sign up to walk for 5K; when the race started most people were jogging and before I know it I started jogging and running. Instead of walking 5K I ran my very first 5K today! when i slow down few times, I was doing light jogging. I finished the race in 35.26 minutes although I was placed 377 of 735 contestants. I finished 189 group by sex (total of 435 female) Felt so good! Another milestone in my life - I actually did it - I ran 5K emoticon Thank you team for your encouragement and support this past 5 weeks! I am glad I signed up for the training and end up getting more than I bargain for. emoticon Going forward I would like to walk 5K at least twice a week. I may even started running a little - Now that I know I can do it!

There currently isn't a official spark 10K program like the 5K. However, spark is working on one. The teams that are out there for 10K are just teams and I don't believe they are associated with an official training program.

If you want to do a 10K, you can just double the amounts on the 5K program, then post to your fitness page. If you feel that the mileage ramps up too quickly, then just repeat a week when desired.

Hi GOODRILL, Congrads on your 5K and how well your doing after your stomach surgery. Now the next question, I went to the main SP home page and then to community, hover over then go to spark team, then I typed in 10K and a bunch came up. Hope you find something that you like! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well I did it!

I joined this group to get back moving after a major stomach surgery. I completed my 5k and feel great.

What I am wondering is... is there a group or challenge for a 10k with a training guide? Or is there a way to adapt this challenge for me to work towards a 10k?

Couple reasons being..
First prior to surgery I was walking 2 miles a day.
Second.. I am scheduled to compete in a 10k walk the end of Oct. I need to up my times and get started training for that.

So glad I found this challenge.
