I finished my Summer Fun Run virtual 5k "walk" today. I had to do it on the elliptical at the gym because summer weather in the mid-Atlantic prohibits my ability to do it outside...can't tolerate heat with my health conditions....
But 5 months ago, when I started this journey, I could barely walk 10 minutes without getting winded.
Today, I completed my 3.1 miles in 34:24 minutes; a pace of 11:05/min mile, or an average speed of 5.5 mph. I knew I would be able to finish; the training over the past 5 weeks has taught me that much. But I didn't think I would be able to do it this well. And while I know my speed probably wouldn't have been as high if I'd been walk/jogging outside, I'm still proud of what I've accomplished. A bit sore, but still proud. :)
Thank you, SparkPeople, for presenting these challenges to us. I, for one, have benefited greatly from the challenges (this one, and the Sprint into Shape Bootcamp).
