I walked my 2nd day of week 5 today...I did 3.1 miles in 60 minutes (and my boys walked with me, though a bit slower ). I kind of got my days mixed up so I did Day 2 first, then Day 1 today. I'm looking forward to walking my 5K tomorrow.

Back to walking, but missed twice last week. Today, I walked 2.5 miles. So I'm officially 1 workout behind. I'll only finish a few days later than projected.
I appreciate the opportunity to build up my confidence through this program! Soon as I'm done, I'll start the walk/jog program. I can hardly wait!!!

Done with week 5 training, now just the 5K race which I will do on Sunday. Today I was able to pick up my speed from 3.2 mph to 3.5 & 3.7 mph. I even did my 1st "jogging" a couple times for a few minutes each time at 4 mph. This 5K Your Way Walking Program is responsible for my progress! Patty

The allergy/cold demon must be catchy..My younger son was sick now my older son is coughing all over the place. I will try to finished the course. Just when you mean business the enemy comes and puts his ugly nose in my business. No way I am stopping even if I have to crawl to the finishing like I will finish!!!!!!!! GET OUT OF HERE!!!!!

Well week 4 didn't go as planned because I was sick with a bad cold/bronchitis, the weather wouldn't cooperate (lightnening), and a finally healed incision from a surgery in April reopened causing my doctor to put me back on restriction. I once heard someone say that if you don't want something bad enough you'll find excuses but if you do want it bad enough, you'll find a way. I really really want this so I am going to find a way to continue my training; sick or not, rain or shine!!!
My 5K in son Sunday so wish me luck!!!

Finished Day 1 of Week 5. Logged in 3.1 miles in 62 minutes. Looking back at Day 1 Week 1 (1 month ago), it is hard to believe that I could barely get through 15 minutes of walking. It was torture. My biggest obstacle wasn't my weight but my mind. I truly believed that I couldn't do it.
As the weeks have gone by I have pushed myself a little further each time. Visualizing the finish line on the wall in front of my treadmill. At the begining of each workout, I was never sure I would make it through but, kept telling myself, "just a little further", "just 5 more minutes", "you're almost done".
I have walked 5K for the past 3 workouts. It is amazing to me each time I finish. I am sooo grateful for this challenge. It has helped me build confidence in myself. Completing my 5K race on the 24th will be a dream come true! Thanks Sparkpeople!!!!!!
