Good Morning all!

It's a nice sunny day here in San Diego, a little windy but not to bad.

Boiling eggs for snacks at work this week, will cook some veggies and make pasta primavera and spaghetti sauce for dinner this week. Need to figure out what I'm taking for lunches. Having a parent volunteer meeting on Tuesday, parents are bringing food. I will definately need to be careful with that one. It will be my last meeting with them, so it will be a very tough one.

Need to put things away that I brought home from work on Friday, trying to bring some things home each week. I have so many files and forms that I created and compiled over the years. The union is telling us to take everything with us. If we created it, it belongs to us not the school. It will be so interesting to see what happens when I am no longer there.

Decided that I want to start a weight loss scrapbook instead of just a small journal. Hopefully that will help me stick with it. I always seem to do well at first then things seem to fizzle out.

Better get going, I have a long list of things to get done today including a long walk.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

We all tend to be critical of ourselves. I do feel the improvement, now I want to see it. But I keep telling myself, that considering all the stress I am under right now, I am doing a good job. At least I am not bingeing on sweets. That was always my old MO.

I will feel so much better and see results when my work and finance situation gets better.

Hope you all have a relaxing evening.

It's crazy how much we accumulate. :) See you're making progress! It's also crazy how we have to see a lot of change to notice on ourselves (cause we are so critical) but others can see way before we do. Hope you have a good day.

Thanks! I need to keep telling myself that. I do notice it's easier walking up the stairs at work. I've been taking the stairs instead of the ramp. I don't get as winded going up like I used to. Everyone says it looks like I've lost weight, but of course I don't see it.

Two more days and it's the weekend.

Food distribution today at school, then clean house when I get home so I don't have to do it on the weekend. Planning on taking some of my things home today from work, I have more than I thought I did. Back to the gym tomorrow.

Have a good day!

I have often had to rely on the way I feel instead of seeing results on a scale or measuring tape. I feel better every day that I do the right things with diet and exercise. I know that even though it's not showing somewhere measurable, I am making a difference and I'm healthier than I was. Hang in there! We do not fail until we quit!

Have a great day all

I also can relate to having some stubborn pounds that just don't want to budge!
Each active step is one step closer. Continuing to move takes dedication, particularly when not seeing any results makes it easy to fall into the attitude of why bother? You both are doing great. Focus on how far you have come, perhaps you need to tweak your routine to fit lifestyle changes. We can do this! emoticon emoticon

Getting back on track this week, made it to the gym after work. Not a long workout, but a least i made it there. Back again tomorrow, this time it will be much longer.

I have to light the fire again. These last 60 lbs. just don't want to budge!

The Farm 2 Kids program is great. It is run by Feed America. We get 300 3-5 lb. bags of fresh produce every week. One week we hand out to the K - 2 students the next week it's to our 3 - 5 grade students. Today it was bell peppers. Our families really appreciate the food. It really helps them a lot.

Nannabe- handing out fruit to the students is awesome. Wish our schools did something like that. Good luck on your next few weeks, sounds like they'll be busy ones.

Tomorrow my baby (She's 18) graduates. Not sure what our week holds but I am thankful for it being extended. =]

Thanks to both of you for the support. Still haven't heard anything. Trying to focus on relaxing and on me. Just found out they are having a big multicultural food faire at the park on Sunday. Sounds like lots of fun. Think I'll arrange to meet the grandkids there then walk a few of the walking trails that are there.

This way I can do grocery shopping and laundry on Saturday, and Monday I can just stay home and relax.

Hope you both have a great long weekend.

Tomorrow is food distribution day, so part of my exercise is handing out 5 lb bags of produce to the students. 300 bags to be exact. I do have a few parents that come and help. But it still is pretty tiring. I've also been trying to clean out the parent center, and started to pack up some of my things. There is so much to go through, see what I can give away to some of the teachers, and the parents. I have a ton of things to bring home, I have more of my things at school than I thought. I need to get most of it done in the next 2 weeks as we have another book fair coming up. With that in the center, I won't have time to clean anything else out and after the book fair there will only be one more week at the school.

Better sign off, need to get a few things done so I don't have to spend the weekend cleaning house.

Have a great day tomorrow!

Being put on hold is extremely frustrating. It is something I am constantly working on, as I do so much better with routine. There are some things which you can not control. Do what you can,
and try to let the rest go.
Focus on the time you will spend with your grandchildren.
Enjoy that special time.
Meanwhile, try and relax and do something for yourself.
Have a good evening!

Not much happening here. Ended up cancelling the school event for tonight. 3 of the 4 teachers were either sick or injured, so that would have left 1 teacher and myself to run the entire event. We decided to postpone it.

Sun is shining, and it is supposed to warm up nicely. Tomorrow is another late night, have a recogniton event to go to for 2 of our school partners.

Still have no word on the job front, We were supposed to find out where we are assigned for next year last week, then they told us it would be today, now they are saying by the 31st of May. We have had our lives on hold for 5 months now, everyone is extremely frustrated and stessed out. We just want this to be over!!!!!

No wonder I am having such a hard time keeping things together.

Maybe the weekend with the grandkids will get me back on track!

Have a great evening

Little time for much of anything yesterday. Unfortunately, it appears the storms are arriving. I am hoping to get to my dentist and pick up a device and return the few blocks home without being hit. emoticon I am planning on a very slow day today-accomplishing some of the detail work which piles up, and what mouse containment is necessary for today. I believe I over exerted yesterday, and any activity will be light yoga-tai chi, stretching etc.
I appreciate your good wishes.
Hope your day is full of sunshine and happiness. emoticon

Congratulations on finishing! I'm hoping to be able to do that this long weekend!

The main point is you finished! Not how fast, but the idea that you finished a 5K. Now you that you know you can do it, you can work on improving your time.

I hope the rain stops for you. It rained here today, not hard, the sun came out for a little while this afternoon, now that I'm finally home it looks like it's going to come down any second. Figures!!

Have a great evening! Reward yourself with a nice hot bath, some candles and a good book!

Rain, severe storms etc. all predicted here for the next week! emoticon The sun did, however, come out just long enough to allow me finally get in a walk. I am still a turtle, but I am finally finished. Naturally I will keep the plan, for future reference (just in case) emoticon I suppose considering the terrain, maintaining my average is progress (for me, anyway.) My heart rate monitor indicates quite a few calories burned so that is always welcome. emoticon emoticon
Best wishes to all!

You're right! I'd tale rabbits any day! It's raining here, just started. Of course it would start during the kids lunch time. It gets very crazy here when it rains. We don't have a lot of room for the kids to eat and play in doors.

Guess I'll have to put on an exercise DVD when I get home. Hopefully the woman downstairs will be working late today.

Have a good workout at the Y.

Thanks! What did I say about having nice weather this coming week? Now they are saying it's going to rain tonight and tomrrow. Figures!

Going to answer a few more emails and then turn on the TV and get my exercises in for tonight. Still need to get my things ready for work tomorrow.

Have a great day tomorrow, I hope the mouse infestation is over. We have been having a family of skunks living somewhere either under the apartment building or in the bushes close by as we can smell them at night. Some nights it really gets strong. I am one to leave the windows open, I like the fresh air when sleeping. I can't stand it when it gets to stuffy at night.

Keep up the exercises, You can do it!

I appreciate your encouragement. The weather is extremely unpredictible. It looks dicey for the following three to four days. I am still working on cleaning up after a mouse infestation resulting from nearby sewer and water line construction. My cat and I are both suffering from cabin fever.
Today, I did a kickboxing video and added a new dance video which is extremely challenging for me. emoticon I am hoping this will help increase my ability to complete my walk. It certainly is challenging my stamina as my heart rate monitor reminds me.
Enjoy the walk in the park and your grandchildren. emoticon

Thanks for the encouraging words. I will take any and all compliments from coworkers and friends. I just wish the scale would show the hard work as well. Lately the weight has been up and done a pound or two, will all the stress from work right now, I'm just grateful that it is not continually climbing. I guess I must be doing something right.

Hopefully I will find out this week about the job situation, then I can at least make some kind of plans for the future. Right now I can't even make any doctor appointments as I don't know if I am working in July or not.

Sounds like you and hugreywoman are making great progress.

The weather here is improving, it is supposed to be nice this week and really warm for our coming long weekend! Planning to meet the grandkids at the park next Sunday to get in a nice long walk!

I am hoping for an opportunity to get in my final goal. Today, I have done some extra cross/training and have learned some things I would like to try. This is what I enjoy so much- the learning process. It is, naturally, fun to see increments of improvements in endurance and basic techniques.
Best to all team members! emoticon

Thank you. I doublt if the weather is as predicted I will be able to get out to complete my walk.
Today, I had an unexpected workout/cross training as I discovered last night I had a mouse. That means many more. I spent the day disinfecting my kitchen and the house, vacuuming, doing dishes, placing mouse controls etc. I did a new dance routine, some strength training (the dreaded pilates) and a short inside walk.
Hopefully the sun will shine on us all soon.! emoticon

It wasn't a good day to be out again today. I rode the stationary bicycle 20 minutes, tried 28 minutes of a new dance video (that was a workout) emoticon completed some strength training, and a short workout on wii fitness.

Hoping soon to get in the thirty minutes of walking. emoticon

Hungrywoman2~ I can feel your pain on the lack of sunshine. I will be so glad when warmer weather returns and stays. Treadmills take a toll on my knees and ankle where outside, I can walk painless and further with better time. Hope you have wonderful weather soon.

Chris ~ I don't understand the whole muscles weigh more than fat theory but I have seen pics of success stories where the weight difference wasn't so great but the inches and appearance was very noticeable. My husband told me the other day that I was making progress. I gave him a very quizzacle look and asked him "really? where?". Sometimes others can see what we can't, for some reason. There's been no change on my scale. So good luck on your weight journey and with your job placement. I hope things work out for you. Finances are the only thing that stresses me more than weight.

Hi change 4 Me!

I am in San Diego, and yes I am a 10 month employee and since I am currently at a year round site, my yearly salary is divided into 12 paychecks. But if I get assigned to a traditional site I can fill out paper work to have my checks divided into 12 but it wouldn't start until September. Traditional school year is over in the middle of June.

I keep praying, now supposedly the state "found" more money and is giving it to the schools, the teachers and parents want the principal to reinstate my position. I'm not sure she will do that, we will just have to see!

Everyone at work keep saying I look like I have really lost weight, but it sure isn't showing on the scale.

Thanks for your suggestions though! Keep working on adding steps. You can do it!.

Stamina is also on my goal list. After walking up 5 flights of stairs Saturday I realized it had gotten better but still I was a bit winded at the top. =]

Nanabe: where are you located (if that's not to personal)? The school districts here offer a 10 month pay period or a 12 month period. Even though you're not working those two months, you still get paid. Of course that means your checks are less than if you had taken the 10 month period but at least you have income those 2 summer months. I hope I explained that well enough.

Keep moving forward~ the turtle may be slow but he still gets there. Have a great day all!

I truthfully haven't been walking like I should. The stress at work is really getting to me. It is making me physically ill. If the weather holds up I'd like to try to walk early tomorrow morning. Maybe if I go before going in to work on my later days I will actually get it in and feel better.

Tried a portion of a spin class on Saturday, I think I will like it. Need to get a cushioned seat cover and see if I can swing the extra money for the class. Should find out sometime this week what school site I will be at. I'm hoping it will be another year round school, if not I will be without a paycheck for 2 months.

I think working on the stamina is the most important first step. Once we can walk the 3.2 miles with ease then we can start trying to improve our time. I may see if one of the grandkids can come walk with me this weekend.

Keep walking everyone!

I wasn't planning on walking today, as I am very busy. However, the sun is shining for a change, and I decided to take advantage of it. The terrain was relatively hilly, and my time is remaining fairly consistent, so I must be increasing my stamina a bit. It is becoming plain to me that is something which I need to work on.

Thanks everyone!
The knee is much better, not my stomach has been acting up. I truly think the stomach thing is partly to do with the stress I am dealing with at work. That just adds to the physical problems. I decided it's time to make an appointment with the doctor to figure what the heck is going on.

Going to the gym tomorrow, talked a coworker into going to the FREE day and take a tour. I'm hoping she will sign up, no registration fee if she signs up tomorrow. We'll have to see.

Have a great weekend! Keep walking!

You are welcome. I hope things are looking up for you. I wish you the best in all your endeavors. I think sometimes we get so caught up in the destination that we don't see what we have accomplished during the journey. You hang in there!

I thank you for your encouraging remarks at an earlier time. Some difficulties made it hard to get back to you, but I appreciated your response.

Stay determined! It doesn't matter how quick you finish as long as you finish. You will do this! Good job Nanabe hanging in there and listening to your body.

I've been repeatig weeks as well. Trying to overcome some obstacles. Weather, work and now my feet and knee have been bothering me. I'm more concerned about the knee, so I'm trying to take it a little easy. Doesn't help that I am up and down the stairs everyday. I am also determined to finish. I have come long way and I know I can do this.

I'm hoping to finish in the next weekend or two.

I stated this 5k walking program several months ago. I am now so into it that I walk a 5k or more every Saturday and Sunday (in 44 minutes!! Yea me). And I walk three times a week inside on the treadmill for 30 minutes, on 2.5 incline, at 4. I am really enjoying this and never thought that I would. My next goal is to walk a 10k by summers end. I know I can do this! I started off slow and steady and here I am. One step at a time for all of us. Stay motivated! emoticon

CLYN are you walking outside or on a treadmill? You've come a long way from not being able to walk a block, that IS an accomplishment! Keep working at it and eventually you'll be able to do 3 miles. It doesn't matter if it takes you a month or a year. If you want to do it, you will. Good luck.

I completed the challenge on April 30. God gave me a pretty day and I took advantage of it!

I have repeated week 4 several times. I can not move past 2.5 mi. There is too much pain toward the end. I guess at this time the best I can do is walk a 2.25 or maybe 2.5. At first I was bothered, but in 2009 I could not walk a block. This is an achievement. emoticon

“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.”

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

I am on my 3rd repeat of week 5 but I will finish! I just can not do the treadmill for that length of time and can not get enough clear days to finish it seems. I am finishing this though for me, just to know I am determined and I can complete something. Lately I've been dealing with a lot of knee and ankle issues but I will complete this challenge this week. One of my goals is to do an actual 5k before September.
