ďThere's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.Ē

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

5K completed in 69 mins (my goal was 70 and my average time would have been 72 mins) so I've very pleased!

Good luck to everyone else who is completing a 5K today!

That's sounds like a great cause. I'll be thinking of you too while I do my walk. I'll report back in here with my time etc. I'm planning on doing 2 more 5K (real races this time) one on April 30th for a Pregnancy Care Access Centre and then another one on May 15th "Walk to Fight Arthritis". Then taking a break until mid July when I'll start training to walk/run a 5K on Oct 2nd for the "Run for the Cure" for breast cancer.

Happy Racing!

Hello everyone, especially Maryck1:
I started this venture of healthy journey with the intention of it just being "virtual." Along the way I heard about a 5K Heartwalk/race being held on 4/16/11 in my local area (Syracuse, NY). My freinds are doing the running race @ 8:00am while the walking portion doesn't start until 10:00. I'll be there in person to cheer for them and I'll be cheering for you later on while I'll be participating in my 5K. I'm greatful for the training sesions and looking forward to continuing onward.
Best Wishes,
Jodie

I have also dedicated myself to walking my 5k on April 16, and 11 am EST sounds like a great time to do it. I too have a chaotic schedule and I may not even finish the training before the walk, but I promised myself I would see this through...I just finished w3d3 and so I am still on track to finish both by the 16th...I can make it happen!

Never complain, never explain. No excuses. Just do it.

Looking forward to how it goes!

Personally, life, weather and circumstances in general are not cooperating with me one bit. However, no matter what happens I will complete. I am continuing, as I always say to learn, many things I would have never been exposed to without the training program.
Best luck to all. emoticon

Thanks for the support and the best of luck not matter what you decide to do. I've determined to walk no matter what the weather on my designated training days. I'll post here when I've completed the 5K on Sat. April 16th.

I like the idea of team support-walking together. I fear my life has been so unpredictable, that I am afraid to commit to a date. This does not include my physical state. However, I will be in spirit with each as they join in their chosen walk.

This has been a great way for me to experience the challenge of those dedicated to official races.
Today, has been an on again off again day for me. I really haven't felt my best, and have chosen not too push too hard. I did aerobic activity using the wii and completed plank exercises in a like manner.

Tomorrow, I am hoping to get my refrigerator replaced so, again, I am not quite certain how to plan my training. Fortunately, I am technically to complete a 30 minute walk. If the weather is decent, perhaps I can actually try an outside walk. It may be, I decide to repeat week 5, but I know that in the real world of 5k"s you go with what is present at the moment.

Teresa

I remember seeing somewhere where you can sign up for a race but forgot where I saw it. I am ready to walk my race but don't know where to sign up for one? Do either of you know? emoticon

I thought it would be fun if we could support each other to get to that day. I'm on W3D1 (just completed). Right now I'm planning on walking that day at 11 a.m. (EST), rain or shine (hopefully not snow! but you never know)!

Please reply if interested!
