Finished the week quite easily. I was sight seeing and on site, so there was lots and lots of walking involved whether i wanted it or not!!! But the challenge will be to keep up the habit when im back in normal life!

Just finished my 2.5 miles on my treadmill! emoticon

It took me 54 minutes and 20 seconds plus one quick bathroom break. I was planning to do it yesterday, but my schedule became too busy and I was only able to squeeze in 1.25 miles.

Still, I did it! emoticon

Monday I did my 40 minutes. Yesterday I did 2 hours (or more) gardening and my steps were over 7000. Today is my official 2.5 day. I know I can do it but I have been really concerned that I am not ready yet. My DH said I need to remember that I am 65 and it may take a little longer than 5 weeks. He said to just keep up the good work and I will get there. Gotta love that guy. emoticon

Still having DOMS pain from my Saturday kettlebell workout so I went a bit slower, average of 2.5 mph instead of 2.7 mph, but still felt good to get it completed. emoticon

anyone else around? I just fiished my 2.75 mile walk. Again it was a lot for me. But it was a nice cool afternoon and even had a little cooling mist or sprinkles. I walked ot to the headlands and along the ocean front. /there were a few tourists but really not many and it was a lovely walk all in all. Hope everyone is still hanging in!

I am three days into the fourth week. Still going strong. I am already wondering what to do after I finish this five weeks. I am not really ready for an actual 5K walkathon yet, I don't think. Still kinda slow! But this is definately helping me make progress with a post-stroke rehabilitation.

Week four completed! Wow I have actually stuck to an exercise program emoticon I have 1 more week of training, and then I am hoping I am ready to walk in my very 1st ever emoticon I am 53 yrs. old, maybe the old saying its never too late to start is really true! I started this training program as part of my get healthy journey not only to help with weight-loss, but because of an aha moment in my life. I had an unexpected job site change that required a lot of walking and stair climbing. I couldn't breathe by the time I walked to the stairs and got to the top! It scared the crap out of me! I knew it was way past time to take back control over my body, there was no more I will start it tomorrows left, the time for action was NOW! So, here I am today 30 pounds lighter (so far), and getting ready to walk a emoticon

I am starting week 4 today and am very excited! The 40 minute walk should be no problem as I've already been walking at least 40 minutes at a time for the past week. The other walks will be fun and enjoyable, provided the weather cooperates. (I prefer doing the distance workouts outside; it makes the time fly by.)

Week 4 was my best week so far! I did so much better at getting in the exercise other than the planned walking.

Started Week 4 today. Put in my 40 minute walk this morning. I'll do a little more this afternoon.

My walking buddy is on vacation this week, so I'll be doing this on my own. I hope she is doing her walking at home so she doesn't fall behind. If not, we'll probably start over with Week 3.

Starting Week 4 with unexpected strength training. We've got some 7" inches of snow, and it's slowed but still coming down. Shovel, shovel, stretch - REPEAT!

I walked 2.5 miles again yesterday and did fairly well. I am a little bit slower than I want. But I will finish week four tomorrow!

I took a few days off for illness and I think I am behind in this challenge. But I am going to take today in stride and go walk as much as I can and see where I get! I did this so far and I will not allow me to slide back. I will walk my 5k in April! I am excited!

I am doing the 5k running program and made it through week 3 ok. Now on week 4 it is getting more difficult. I don't know if I will be able to make it through the running program. This week calls for 2 minutes of walking and 3 minutes of running. 2 minutes of running was difficult, but three is even worse. I could not do all 4 sets. I only managed 2. I am going to keep trying this, but if I cannot do it by the end of the week I will change to the walking program. I know I can do that. I have done 3 miles in 1 hour on my treadmill before starting this program. I will make up my mind by the end of the week. I just don't seem to have the stamina both in my legs or my lungs to run. I had a bout with Valley Fever a few years ago and it has totally messed up my right lung. So, building up lung capacity is difficult. But, I will keep trying. I may also contact the trainers on site and see if they have any ideas about expanding my lung capacity. I'll let you know how this is going.

today I did 2.5 miles for the second day because I got to the gym late and had to pack it up. But I will do the last one tomorrow. I am not looking to go real fast. I think I am having issues because I am not doing enough strength training for my legs. I do a lot of weights on the exercise ball for my arm. But need to find more things for my legs! I keep telling myself that I am behind the eight ball on speed because I am sort-of learning how to stride correctly since my back surgery.

Hi I restarted the program at week 3 and now on week 4. Yesterday I walked 3.25 miles and did it in 55 minutes. I guess I did a 5K. I hiked today another 2.25 miles. I am sore and tired. Did the hiking in wind and rain. I am proud of myself that I am getting less winded and recovery from walking is less.

I started week four this week. I walked 40 minutes today. I want to increase my speeds but I seem to be slower than I should. Ultimately I want to walk a 5k in 45 minutes. I think that is doable for some one that has not had exercise as a normal activity in my life in over 20 years. I hope I am right about that. Any way, I walk my first 5k on April 21.

SO I finished week 4 yesterday start week 5 tomorrow....I did the 2.75 in 47 minutes. I am anxious for tomorrows distance though...I walk the 5k a week from tomorrow. Doing a mock on Friday as to not throw the tracking off. Tomorrows time and Friday's mock will determine the final goal time for completing the official one on the 16th. I can not believe it is this close all ready, but I got this.

One more walk this week to complete week 4...I am walking 2.50 in 44 minutes. I had a goal of completing the 5k in under 30, but at the end of next week I am gonna reevaluate that. I think it may be closer to under 40. I am walking on Sunday the 16th so that Friday that is supposed to be race day is gonna be a dress rehearsal so to speak. I am also blessed to have a sparkfriend walking with me virtually so no backing out for me. If everything goes as planned I will be running in spring/summer time frame. Good Luck Everyone in your training.
