It is fine to stay on a week for a while. Just keep moving a little every day. Ten minutes, fifteen minutes. I've walked in rest stops, gas stations, airports, even around the block at a church. It works.
When your life gets a little better, become more active, but moving even a little bit keeps things a bit easier.
