Just finished week 3 on my treadmill. My 2 mile was done in 43 minutes 28 seconds and my 2.25 mile was done in 48 minute 54 seconds. Still super slow though. I seem to be averaging 2.7 mph which is better than my 2.0 mph start speed, but not up to my goal speed.

Before I was doing more than the training suggested, and I felt really good. My plan is to add a lap around the track every day, and I will be up to 5k by the time the Trick or Trot comes around. Now it is week three, and I am a bit behind on the training plan. Oh well.

I'm actually doing pretty good. It might be a good idea to read those articles about stretches, and warming up.

Walking and exercising for an hour finally makes me feel better instead of worse!

Day 3 Week 3
Did not walk. Recumbent 30 min and Yoga 60. Needed another adjustment. Swollen and sore.
I will see how it is tomorrow.

Day 2 Week 3
Plodding along. I am extremely sore from the walk yesterday, coupled with all the other daily activities. I did some yoga, and wii fitness. Yoga claimed it was for beginners. Not this one.

Today, I have been shopping, and will probably make this a rest day.

Day 1 Week 3
Not going so well. I finally made it to my 30 minute walk. It was a beautiful day, and I thought it foolish not to get out. My Dr. thinks I should as I have some difficulty being outdoors.
My calorie burn, as usual more than the site. Is there a way to track this? The good news is
I did it! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Was doing great, but, at end of three plus miles, knee started to hurt and just got worse, so slowed down and limped to end. Rested three days and will be back today.

Just finished Week 3 today...walked 2.47 miles in 45 minutes. I started this whole process because I wanted to push myself to improve my workout...and it's working. I'm really enjoying the structure of this. It's nice to feel strong and healthy (as well as exhausted) at the end of my walking. emoticon

Planning on completing week 3 day 3 today. I've decided that it is more important to me to FINISH what I've started than to have a "good" time (I mean length of time it takes to complete my walk). If it takes an hour the first time I walk 3.1, oh well. Thoughts please--- is it reasonable to consider starting the walk/run 5K plan once I've completed this walk one time???

Day 1 / Week 3 - I push through it, but my calves and feet cramp the whole time I'm walking.- Any suggestions on how to manage it would be appreciated. Anyhow, I'm determined to get through it & l imagine I will deserve a little reward when I make it to the end of the challenge.

hello everyone,

I got done with week three but I had to catch up from week 2 and I did do that. I am so proud of myself. I did my on my treadmill and I got done with everything. Plus, I was excited because I was jogging a little when i was on the treadmill. I jog for 7 minutes right in the row and I was happy about that. I can see myself doing jogging/walking program soon enough.... My legs are sore a little after I work out but I stretch out really good and i wasn't sore the next day but one...

I am feeling stuck here in week 3. I finished all of the week 3 challenges but can't seem to make it to the first one of week 4. The weather got cold and I get BORED on the treadmill and barely can make it through 30 minutes much less 45.

Any tips on making the treadmill more bearable?

I am so excited!! I'm probably excited as much as if I had lost 10 pounds, which I haven't yet, but anyway, I have been a smoker for approximately 11 years, and I quit smoking and began jogging! I haven't been able to jog in a long, long time. I only jogged 5 1/2 minutes of the 33 I went yesterday, but I DID IT!!!

I'll be starting Week 3 tomorrow. I have to find ways to fit these workouts into my day. I prefer working out in the morning, but the workouts are getting longer the further into this program I get. This doesn't leave much time to get ready for work, unless I get up earlier, which I'm not really willing to do. I could do them after work, but I tend to make excuses. Any ideas on how to find the motivation/time?

I did not want to go today... the stress of this past week has been, to say the least, overwhelming, and, well, I wanted to come home from work and vegetate and get cozy, fall asleep, forget about life for awhile and mentally travel to a land far, far away.

I had a good cry, blood pressure started going up, and was feeling sorry for myself in the worst way.

DH got home, listened to my diatribe, reassured me all is going to be okay, and urged me to go for my walk. Then my son chimed in, "Yeah, Mom... you need to get your training in." My son literally brought me my sneakers, t-shirt, and walking pants. emoticon

Yes, that got to me.

And that got me to muster up some motivation and mental strength to get my rear out the door. :)

The walk did me good, and I'm noticing that I'm becoming more and more agile and able to walk at a faster speed. emoticon

I know I've said this before, but thank you, guys (SP) for this challenge. Slowly but surely... slowly but surely... I can do this.

On 09.19.11 posted the following to another topic: Wk 3 Day 2 walked 2.41 mi in 50 min. A little disappointed about the time; didn't take pain meds for my back at the correct time, went later in the day, blah, blah, blah. Anywho, finished the route I had chosen so I'm WooHooing on that emoticon

Today, I took to the pool for 70 min. of water aerobics, 20 min. of swimming & then ST.

Happy to report in that Week 3, Day 1 is DONE! DH and I enjoy our walking time in the neighborhood, and today the temperature was just perfect. It's fun to see what the neighbors are doing with their "Better Homes and Gardens".

Have to figure out which route will be just right for Day 2.

Later Gators!

My focus this week is to successfully complete the walks and stay on track to complete this challenge. I've had a tough time completing challenges in the best despite my best intentions. So far the plan is.

Monday - 30 continuous minutes - Completed 1.5 miles
Thursday - 2 miles -
Saturday - 2.25 miles -

Best of luck to everyone with week 3!

I managed to get two days walking down...because of waiting on repairman today...I'll have to get myself going tomorrow morning with the walking..(I am NOT a morning person...but it's too hot to do any other time outside and I'm not a fan of indoor walking or the "Dreadmill").

Week 3, Day 2. A little better today, except that it was 11 before we walked, so it was 90 degrees.

My husband was explaining interval training to me and how important it is to exercise in my target heart rate zone. I'm beginning to get it...

So now, instead of perfume and books for Christmas, I'll probably ask for a heart rate monitor!

Blessings,
Pat

To Estinyda: Hi! How about some kind of exercise videos for cross training? If you don't have any you could look at the library, or see what there might be at a low price somewhere like Good Will - ? I hope you can find something that works well for you! emoticon

On a rainy day, I'd probably pop in Leslie Sansone and do that!

I'm on week 3, day one today, and I gotta tell you, it was hard today for some reason. I'm not sleeping 8 hours, had a stressful weekend, yada, yada. I also changed the route and had a lot more hills to traverse.

I'm thankful for my husband who walked it with me. I might have quit if I'd been alone.

Blessings,
Pat

What alternative plan are you following for rainy days, besides walking in the rain?
