Thanks Ida. I just wanted you to know that I'm going offline for a couple of weeks but I will still be doing this challenge. I wrote about it in yesterday's blog.
HUGS.

EMILYULM1 Thanks for stopping by. I'm so glad that you joined the Walking Program. I think it will be good for me to get me back into walking.

I don't know if you are like me, but the biggest hurdle for me is the part where I just have to make the decision to do it - to start. I cannot relate to the pain of plantar fascitis, however, so I am not sure what I would do in that situation. Kudos to you for getting day 1 completed. I was SOOOOO angry yesterday, that the last thing I wanted to do was walk, but I did, and it was the best thing for me to do. Thanks for introducing me to the 5K program.

Thanks Janet. Fortunately June, July and August are actually our coolest months on the equator where I live. I will need to keep some water along for a longer walk though.
I'll likely do my second walk for this week on Monday.

Walking in the heat means trying to stay cool and hydrated. Check into getting some clothing made of wicking fabrics and be sure to carry water and/or a sport drink with you. Have fun.

I just joined the training program and am preparing for a 5K Walk on July 4th weekend. Walking is my only exercise but I have not been doing much of it at all recently. I do walk with Nordic Walking poles three times a week but only one "lap" which takes about 14 minutes. I wear a pedometer (which often does not get up past 5000 steps in a day) so I should be able to measure my walking distance ok. Last year I was walking more but then my plantar fasciitis (heel pain) flared up.

I would appreciate any tips you have on preparing for a 5K Walk. Thanks.
