Walked 25 minutes which is how long it took for me to walk a mile-MUCH longer than I thought it'd be! Really looking forward to this challenge & LOVED the walk this morning-the lake was awesome!!

My rest day tomorrow marks the end of Week 1 in the program. It seems to be what I needed to rekindle my spark! :)
I love the way the training plan doesn't pressure the walks, some days it focuses on time, others on distance, never requesting you walk a certain distance in a fixed amount of time. I am hoping I finish it since I have a trip lined up for next week. I am planning how to get my Saturday workout in. For now I am happy to have finished Week 1.
I have taken rest days in between walks instead of doing some different cardio. I will try to improve on that next week. I will also do some strength training which I've been neglecting.

OK, if this doesn't get better, its another trip to the doc and I will have to drop out of the Trick or Treat Trot 5k your way in the last week of October. I am sure I can do it, but it certainly seems far away from me and how I have been feeling this week.
Yesterday was a depressing BUST!

I pulled something in my back that is causing me to lose my breath while walking. it's like a giant muscle spasm that starts under shoulder blade and wraps aroung to the front of the bottom of my rib cage.
So I am going to take tomorrow off and only do some gentle stretching. But this may delay my training and I need it to get used to having my leg back! It may just be too soon for me.
I'll have to wait to see how it all plays out!

Week 1, Day 1 - walked 30 minutes straight 1.46 miles. I am still slow due to just getting a cast off on Monday. My ankle is still sprained, so I have to place my foot carefully. I know I need to incease my steps, but I have to take it carefully so I don't rebreak this leg or further agitate my ankle. It's been 3 months since I walked on this leg without some sort of support.
But day 1 is done!
Day 2 starts in a few minues when I start walking for today.

Waiting on the rain to stop here. It really has me down. I was doing so good with my walking. I was going to put off joining a gym until I lost 15lbs as a reward. But I think I need to join as soon as possible I don't want my exercise siderailed by the weather.

So happy that I completed Week 1, I haven't walked in a while so the mile and mile and a half was a little challenge. I hope I can make it through week 2!!!!

Day 1, Week 1 - rainy and cold day here in the sunny southeast, also had to go into work on my day off. I wanted to make sure I got my walk in so I did a few laps in the parking garage before I left work.

Niter83 I thought that was an awesome plan you and your husband came up with. I have been walking as much as possible this week. Clocked alot of mileage and time had to take a day to rest starting to feel fatigued. Mostly, because my body is probably in shock. i went for virtually no movement to walking daily and I think my muscles are about to rebel. My goal for next week is to do more stretch routines and to stop driving to the grocery store and the pharmacy. I will walk to run my errands this week.
Here's to a new week and rising to new challenges.

I have been taking timed walks the last two weeks, so that's not an issue. However I am going to have to work on figuring out distance.... guessing at this point...

I completed Week I yesterday and I feel GREAT! Since I'm walking now - my dog also gets to walk. My husband is so supported. He suggested that he will drive a vehicle to work, the dog and I will walk (2 mi) to pick it up and then he will walk the 2 miles home. I did this yesterday for the first time. A beautiful walk at 7am. It only took me 50 min to walk the 2 miles and I know this time will get better the more fit I become.

Walking with a group from church doing a Run for God 5 K in Dec . Started trying to run but decided that walking would work and was safer for us older ones. We are now walking 3 miles at least 3 times a week and trying to walk faster. Right now it take us 1 hour. Loving' it. I am walking with a WW drop out and we are getting back on program. We will weigh in tomorrow. I have never weighed in in front of someone I know before! This may be what keeps me going since I usually drop out after a few weeks.

My neighborhood is weird like that too. I walked through my neighborhood, down the street to the park, around the park trail twice and back home. That was almost 4 miles.

Monday - walked 2.47 miles. :) I am now I just have to figure out how to get in another mile and half. This neighborhood is set up kind of weird, no straight lines. my goal is to keep walking different paths till I get to 3 1/2 miles and then work on improving the time. Thank goodness for gps. :) I did not think I would enjoy walking so much but it gives me time to think without distractions and trying to figure out how to make 3 1/2 miles is a nice little puzzle.

I keep restarting this program because I never finish all of the weeks. I should probably be doing the walk/jog program because I can walk quite a ways but since I am inconsistent and I am afraid of falling if I run (I'm a klutz) I am doing the walk program.
So day 1 week 1 went great. I have a pedo-watch and a pedo-tracker on my phone. Both said a different time and distance so I am going to have to try to figure out how to reset both to make sure they are correct. When I left the house I counted my steps and checked my watch and it was wrong so I based my numbers on the pedo-tracker phone app. If it is correct (I'm pretty sure it is), I walked for 1 hour and 2 minutes for a total distance of 3.92 miles.
It was a pleasant walk. I walked from my house to the park just past my neighborhood. I have to walk down a slightly busy street with no sidewalks to get to the park. I've been afraid to so this is the first time I've done it. It was fine and not scary at all. On my way back, a man gave me a frowny face and a thumbs up. I think the thumbs up was sarcastic judging by the frowny face. I guess it was a huge inconvenience for him to move his car over 2 feet into the empty turning lane to pass me. I was going to step up onto the curb into the knee-high grass but since he moved his car over I saw no reason to. I hope I didn't ruin his day too much

I know you can do it! .......I have found for me putting some headphones on, put on iHeart Radio, start with one step, letting my thoughts flow ...not only help me to do more than I thought I could because I am not focused on distance and my first walk I was not focused on time either, just walking, I am not only getting fit but working through any issues or problems in my head.

did day two of my training today. I did one mile in 22 min on my treadmill. I tried to do this last year and had to quit started having knee issues. going to take it slower this time.
