My head and my heart are ready to jump into the challenge. I hurt my foot somehow this week and I have tried resting it, but it is hurting more and more. I guess I will have to head to the doctor before I can get back in this challenge. Good luck to all of you!

I've got one more day for this week. I plan to go to the park with my kids and get my 1.5 miles in. I'm planning to go ahead and complete 2 miles. We'll see how it goes. Keep going, everybody!

So far, so good. If I could count earlier days this week, I'd already be done with Week 1, but I'm trying to do it right. Actually had a 1.5 mi distance planned to walk just for the cardio anyway, so 15 min of it were tracked for this.

I am finding I will most likely want "real" walking shoes - and, of course, want them before my first "real" 5k. (All I have right now are year-old sneakers from Payless - and the more I walk, the more I can tell the arch is positioned wrong.)

Blue, Lethie, or Jennifer May - I answer to them all

I am doing better since putting heat and ice on my hip. Swelling has gone down but it is still painful. I am going to just use my stepper for now instead of going out for a walk, just in case hip acts up again.

She said to keep putting heat and ice on it for a few days and if it doesn't clear up by Friday, call her. If it gets worse, go to the ER.

Even though my left hip is swollen I did my exercises and some house work. It hurts, but at least I didn't give in to the temptation to just relax today. Am going to put some heat and ice on it and see if that helps.

Day 1 of Week 2. Not doing so great. My left hip is swollen and don't know why. Hurts to exercise. Don't even want to think about food at this point. Will call dr tomorrow and see what she thinks could be causing hip to swell. Have a good week everyone.

I didn't do my 1 mile walk today I can already walk that far and I took my grandson to the DPAC baseball park and walked up and down the entire length of stairs top to bottom 4 times. Walked from one end of the stands to the other 4 times. I do not know the total distance but my thighs HURT not ache HURT. I will rest tomorrow then back at it Tuesday. Finished week one with a smile. I didn't follow the exercise plan exactly though. For example, instead of walking I took stairs or gardened. I am so proud to have put the activity into my week. I feel better and happy that I accomplished this! Onward and upward to week number two!

I am doing great! I have actually been walking every day and trying to increase mileage. So far 7.7 miles and 8 miles. I still have energy left to do strength training and some cardio. I do remember to stretch before and after exercising. It really helps. Good luck everyone.

Got back on track today! Did 2 laps around the lake which is 1.8 miles. With walking to the buses and walking to the lake, doing the laps and then walking at the store and then to the buses and home I ended up walking a little over 5 miles according to my pedometer.

Planning on getting in another mile after church tomorrow. Yeah! I gettin back on track and feeling pretty good about it!

I used the fitness map to mark out a mile in my development and did the loop twice with two of my daughters. We did pretty good...completed 2.2 miles in 37 minutes. I'm sure I could have done a few minutes better on my own, but I enjoyed the company and want them to value the importance of exercise. Looking forward to day 3 tomorrow!!

Didn't get to walk today! Had 2 people out of the office today, so was by myself all day. Barely had time to get lunch. Had such a headache by the time I left just went home and rested after taking something for the headache.

4 more days and Spring Break, then I can concentrate on ME!

Good luck with getting your walks in. I know what you mean. This is my last week before spring break, I completed week 1, last week was supposed to be week 2 but between the rain and working late, I didn't get them in. Once break starts on the 2nd, I can get my walks in every day. Plan on this spring break doing things just for me! Not even going to worry about spring cleaning. Unless I feel like it! haha

Hang in there we all can do this!

Isn't it crazy how the parents and kids get so involved doing 'stuff' there isn't time for a family life? We have been in Texas since Thursday and we will be going to our 4th soccer game tomorrow night for the 3 grandkids who live here and 1 gymnastic practice.! It is exhausting. If I hadn't cooked, the family would have had junk food for 4 days straight, every meal....

I am about to start week #4. It will be a challenge. Had to travel to the Northwest where it rains a lot, plus, I am taking care of my two grand daughters who both had their tonsils removed this past Friday. I will do my best. My d-i-l knows that I am training for the 5K and is very supportive. I hope we can get those walks in, together, while my son is watching the girls. On the other hand, she is so busy during the week. Besides working fulltime, she is very involved in the girl's schools, Brownies, Softball, Swimming (ok, that won't happen this week). She is just spread so thinly.
Wish me luck!

Didn't do as much walking as I should have this week. Work has been crazy! Did do a lot of running around at work though. Up and down the hill and up and down the stairs too. We've had a lot of events at the school this week. These are the days I should be wearing a pedometor.

Next week is the last week before a 4 week spring break. Can hardly wait, to spend 4 weeks taking care of me.

Have a great Friday everyone!

It did snow last night, so wouldn't have walked, but won't for sure, I have to go to work in a few min. and I am on my feet the whole time. This should be an interesting 8 hours and then 8 hours tomorrow starting at 7:30. Wish me luck with the anke. Everyone have a great day as this is the first day of the rest of our life. gramkris

Sounds like a great start to me! Keep it up.

I did a 30 minute walking DVD, the weather has been rainy off and on all day. Also did the srength exercises from Day 2 of the 28 day challenge.

Hopefully I can walk outside at work tomorrow. Have a late night at work, won't get home until 7 or 7:30. That will make it a 13 hour day for me.

Keep up the good work, I know you can do the 5K. What is your goal date?

Had a few set backs due to injury, working overtime and the weather. But got my workouts in this week. Doing my 1.5 mile tomorrow after church.

Now we are getting rainy weather again, Guess I'll have to get to the gym or do a walking video at home. I try not to do the video if possible, I live in an upstairs apartment. I can only imagine what it would sound like down stairs.

Off to the mall to do a little walking and get a few groceries before the storm hits.

Have a great day everyone.

I agree with you. I love the Walk Away DVDs. I have a variety of them and switch routines depending on time available and level of intensity desired.

I've been walking for a bit but haven't really been pushing myself with it so I've joined this team to kick it up a notch :)
Thinking Week One is going to be doable, after that is really going to make me work for it! Can't wait!!!

Just returned from Day 1/Week 3 - 30 minutes.... I made it 1-1/2 miles. Rough terrain and hills:)

I thought a mile was alot shorter! I somehow thought I walked a mile last week and realized I only walked 1/8th. It seemed like a mile to me. ha, ha. I did walk one mile yesterday. My next door neighbor told me where to walk if I walk to walk one mile one way and then back would be two. It was nice yesterday but today it's too cold. I'll go on the treadmill today.

Did two miles yesterday, not realizing it should have been 1.5 miles. I went ahead and took half the time of my second mile and added it to the first mile. I am trying speed walking, but am so exhausted afterwards. I don't think we are judged by how fast we walk? I assume we list the time to see if we will improve speed over time?
Two older men were watching me coming up a hill and asked if I couldn't walk any faster and laughed. They were probably wondering where the fire was.

I finished Week One yesterday (12 Mar 2011). Since I have been walking at least a couple times a week since last May, this first week hasn't been two difficult. I'm expecting Week Two to be a stretch because I don't walk more than a mile in a single session.

I haven't been doing any cross-training because I don't have access to a gym or anything. I've just been doing more walking on the off days.

The weather here has been typically March, wet. Spent an hour shoveling myself out of the driveway from last nights snow fall - now bailing the basement from the ongoing rain of today emoticon

Need to get in the second walk tonight, would love a dry 'window' to do it :)
Saturday the third.

This program has made me lost 3 pounds (I'm not joking) in about four days! Now I know that will slow way down as my body adjusts (and honestly much of that was probably water weight), but it is a GREAT motivator! I'm actually jogging a little of this program to help push my endurance. Tomorrow it will be at least 60 degrees and I'm going jogging/walking in the park with a friend.

Hard to fit it in sometimes, but you look like you have a plan Cindyrinal. I know, the weather here is terrible, but I feel like I achieved something by going out for my walk anyway. I'm walking a mile a day, so I think it will be good to see if I can get to the mile and a half for the goal on Saturday.

I'm having fun doing this. Today I may have to go to the mall to get in my 1.5 miles of continous walking since it is stormy here. Or, I could just do my 10 minute walks around the building and do my "training" day tomorrow.

Taking a day off today, I'm going to walk a half mie, and then tomorrow try they mile and a half. My knees are trying to catch up with my mind on how much exercise I should be doing. Ha....but I love having a goal to go after. I agree with Michigan, I'm in Ohio and the cold and rain is hampering progress, but looking forward to that time change so I can walk after work. Good luck the rest of this week to everyone!

Today I plan to do 3.2 K on the treadmill which is 2 Miles. I have a converter on my cell phone which helps me a lot as I do not have a clue as to how far a mile is. It is cold (by our standards here (Israel) so I will do it inside.
