I think I came up with a fun idea. I found a great image online of a mortarboard and diploma together. I copied the image into Word and will print them out for the kids, then have the kids write their name on the hat part (this is hard to describe!), then on the mortarboard (top) and diploma, they'll write down things they want to achieve in high school. Kind of like a "When I'm graduating, I want to look back and see that I did these things" idea. I hope this makes sense outside of my head, lol. I'm kind of excited to see how it turns out now! :)

KRYS210 - thanks for the site! I'll check it out.

NFLATTE - yes I'm on Pinterest, and have gotten some good ideas there, but not for something like this. Thanks!

AMPROSKE1 - unfortunately, not from the high school my kids feed into. But it's a cool idea!

Are there any "notable" people that have graduated from that HS that you could print pictures of with a little bit of info on them? Just the other day I found out that someone I graduated with went on to be a pro football player. I went to the alumni website and found several people that graduated from my HS that have gone on to do cool things like that. Some became news reporters. They aren't super famous, but it was cool info. Might be inspiring for some.

Have you read the Spark book section on setting goals and doing goal boards? Might give you and them some ideas...

I had this great idea - or part of one - to set up a bulletin board in the my room to start the year that focuses on graduating from HS. I teach 7th and 8th grade, and the HS we feed into does not exactly have the greatest graduation rate. Back in May, I picked up some decorations from the dollar store and want to create something to focus the kids on graduating and help them set some goals. One of the ideas (that won't go on the board) I had was to have them write a letter to themselves that they will open when they graduate. But for the actual board.. I'm stumped. I have a banner that says "Congratulations" and I will put "Class of" and the year each of my classes will graduate, but then I'm not sure what else. Any fantastic ideas out there?

Again, I'm hoping to focus it on their goals during the next 5-6 years (depending on grade level) and inspiring them.
