JIACOLO, I know how you feel. I had a new student come in the second week of October with very little information or paperwork, which trickled in a little at a time. Never received any indication of what he had been doing prior to coming to me. Just had to base his grades on the little he had done so far for me at that point, about 2 weeks of time spent including the first few days that I was really just assessing him. Just met yesterday to revamp his IEP, as the sending county apparently decided he couldn't read because they couldn't understand his speech!
Things are still hard, kids think they are adults and doing adult things, playing games and daring one another to do things. One of my students was suspended due to this and will return on Monday. Many discussions have taken place this week about what is appropriate and the district-approved sex-ed teacher is supposed to be making time to come meet with our students.
With all the stress, my weight is up and I am having trouble getting myself to exercise and to stop snacking in the evenings!
Thankful for the extra day off from teaching today! Going to spend the day with my mom, grandmother, and aunts/uncles/cousins for my grandmother's 90th birthday! Just wish I didn't have to rush back for class tonight and tomorrow!
