It's about time to reset team goals. How many of you might sign on to one or more of these?

1 - Earn 500 SparkPoints a month, with a team goal of 17,000 (I'm in)
2 - Sleep a minimum of 6 hours/night x6/week. (I will probably pass; I usually get 8)
3 - Try one SparkRecipe per week. (I'm in)

I'll try to set them up so you can use checkmarks and then don't have to be online every day.

Final thoughts so we can be ready for January 1?

Well, we're at 8000 SparkPoints now, a little more than halfway through December. If I round up, we'd be looking at 17,000 for January. My initial response would be to start there and go up as members and activity increase.

One recipe each week sounds doable.

And, yes, remembering my student and mother of little ones, I recall 6 being a goal. I could function well, though not at my peak. But, oh, we ALL suffered when I got even 15 minutes less!

Some excellent starting points, Alicia - thanks! Any others been thinking about this?

Maybe 1 New SparkPeople Recipe each week.

I'm not for sure on SparkPoints number...maybe we can see how much we do this month or what we are at for halfway thru the month, then double it for a monthly number and increase it some for next month.

We should try to get at least 6 hours each night of sleep. It's hard sometimes to do for me having two little ones.

Any thoughts on numbers for these suggestions?

Should the recipe be SparkPeople? How often each week?
How many SparkPoints to be realistic and yet also a stretch?
Same with sleep. How many hours and how many times per week? (My instant reaction is NOT
7/week - leaves no room for sick kids, studying for finals...)

I wish I got on more often to make my Spark Streaks better. I dislike the number of times that I have reset it.

Team Goals:

Water is a big thing for me but if I am exercising, I drink plenty of water to replenish what I lost in sweating.

Trying a new recipe? I'm trying to find new healthy recipes that the family and I will enjoy. If I continue to cook the way I have, it isn't always the healthiest.

I just looked a bit more into team goals. We can have up to 5, and we'd want to come ups with ones that appeal across a spectrum of people. Once I write a goal, I can move the team number up or down. Example - earn 500 Spark Points/ month. It would help if at least some people post or SparkMail me that you've opted in so I can try for a total team number. And that's the number that's totally flexible; I'll probably have to change more frequently at first and less often as we get the hang of this.

SP has 5 generic goals:
Walk x many steps/day - I'll be able to set a number 5000-15000
Sleep x many hours - the range is 6-10
Save x many dollars a day - range $1-10
Earn x many SparkPoints/month - 50-1000 points
Walk x many miles/week - range 1-10

Of course there are custom team goals created too, and I'm sure many of you have ideas.
E.g. Stay in calorie range 6 days/week. Eat x many fruits/vegs. We should all be open to what might appeal to various ages, fitness levels, losers/maintainers etc..

Well, midMissouri Sparkers, it's obvious we need a challenge already!

For the rest of this month, let's put on our thinking caps. We have two team goals. The one to drink water is probably on just about every team you've ever joined. (Did I hear someone say that signing up for this one is joining the Department of Redundancy Department)? And the one for our fitness minutes is simply too easy! At the very least, it needs to be revised upward to become something we really have to pull together to reach.

So please help me out here. This will be the month that we all toss out ideas and then reflect on those suggestions. Either respond to another's post or even re-visit one of your own suggestions. Let's see what kind of goals we think are appropriate for OUR team!
