New challenge thread will be up in a minute....

Let's do this January challenge based on exercise minutes - please post your cardio and strength training combined. Push yourself to get more than you have in the past, even if that is just one more cardio workout or one more set of lifts using dumbbells. Also, if you plan to participate in the "Spark Your Body" Bootcamp Challenge, please feel free to post about that! That's what I'll be doing the month of January to keep up my momentum.... If you've never tried a bootcamp workout with Spark, I highly recommend it!!

My goal is to keep up with the cardio until the end of the month. I've been playing DDR. Since it's a video game, and I'm a gamer, I HAVE to beat it. Everything MUST be unlocked. That's how it is. But, I'm getting close to a point where my legs just aren't strong enough yet to keep up with the pace of the songs and challenges I haven't beaten. My mom is going to get me a new game for Christmas, so then I'll have new easy stuff to beat while I improve to a point where I can come back to the hard levels on this game. Until then, though, beating my old score is going to have to be enough.

He who laughs last thinks slowest.

A bit of advice I use. Don't think about it---JUST GO!!! If I stop and think about going for my walk I always have other things to do. I pick a time in the morning, Put my shoes on and just go---before I can change my mind. (Or I will) LOL

Hi, all.
I've been guilty of slacking off on my walking and exercise program this past week. I'm not a good self-motivator but am an expert at talking myself out of doing things. I always have a reason not to exercise/walk or for doing it "later." I need to train myself not to listen to that inner voice, to only hear the one that says "go for it!" I'm working on it.
Due to health problems, my goal is 4000 purposeful steps each day not counting "everyday-life" steps. Today will be my fifth day, as soon as I talk myself into it!

OK Hi all I am not really new to the group but I have been semi-quiet (if ya knew me you wouldnt believe that was even possible!) So here it goes MY GOALS:

1: I am not going to meet my goal in my sig of 190 by birthday, and no it isnt pessimistic to say that because I am 192 as of this morning so it isnt gonna happen BUT the 180 for new year is staying I am still going to shoot for it.

2: change my laps swam to swim more continuous laps in a row this week (my endurance needs a challenge)

3:right now fresh fruit or veggies I think is set to once a day as a goal I think I need to up that 2 for this month sounds good!

4:change up the p90 to the 3-4 level I should be at this point and stop making excuses like the candy I have been lately!!! (Its been two months already so it is totally within realistic realms I am a candy)

Happy Turkey Day all! emoticon

I know, and mine came on in about one year, so I should be good if I can get it off by next spring/summer. I've always thought, wouldn't it be nice if when one decided to start losing weight and working out, that miraculously it came off right when one made the decision. Would make working out that much more fun. Kind of "Let's Make a Deal" ... I'll promise to workout 3-5 times a week for 45 minutes, stay within my calorie range, eat right, for X# months, if you'll put me at or within my goal weight.

Slow and steady is the trick!! You didn't put it on overnight, so you can't expect to lose it overnight either. Even though that would be really awesome right?

That's emoticon Bailey. I just saw it took you about 8 months, so I'm not doing too bad. I do need to kick it up a notch though. I haven't been doing very good last week, or this week. Too much to do getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. But after this week, the preparations will be done and I'll start really working out again.

emoticon I am doing great!!! I have been been maintaining for 1.5 months and actually dropped another pound over the weekend.

Starting to see some definitions in my abs but not as much as I would like. I am going to add other ab exercises in addition to the Curves work outs I have been doing.

I haven't been doing my absolute best at working out. My goal/plan is to work out 5 times a week. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I went back to check and see what I did to lose the 1.5 lbs, and I can't see that I'm doing anything different. BUT, even though I'm staying within my calorie range (usually 6 out of 7 days), I'm starting to think it's not so much as to how MUCH I eat, but more like WHAT I eat.

So, other than Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm going to get back on to eating healthier foods, work out more, and see if that makes a difference.

Hi to all the new faces! And welcome to this challenge... we typically do a month-long challenge, but since time of year can be difficult for many of us (guilty!!), our challenge will take us through the end of 2009. So, make it a great ending to an excellent year! :-)

I've been keeping on with my challenge... some days are not the best. I've been doing more strength training, but still have not achieved my goal of doing my full ST schedule with consistency. I'm gonna keep at it... maybe by December I'll be using the schedule fully and will have four good weeks in of ST!!

Woohoo!

Please post again soon to let us know how you are doing! :-)

I just joined the team, so am just joining the challenge. I challenge myself to walk 45 minutes each day, to do strength training 3 days a week, and to do my favorite exercise DVD every day.

Hi, I just joined this team. It is good for me to have committed myself to this challenge. So here goes: 1. I need to stay within my diabetic diet each day - go back to the guidelines I learned and begin weighing my foods again so I am sure I have the right portion controls for myself. 2. Be sure to take my Fasting Blood Sugar Count each day. 3. To keep a food journal for myself so I know what I am eating and drinking each day. 4. Begin to exercise in earnest each day - on the tread mill, on the recumbent bycycle and walking. Log it on a sheet for myself along with my food and water so I really will lose this weight once and for all.

Confession--I want to be accountable so here is the bad...I did so well yesterday until dinner...instead of a decent dinner, I scarfed down a TON of shelled pistachios. They equaled the caloric intake of ALL the other foods I ate yesterday combined. Good grief...I know exactly how it happened, I had to take benadryl for an allergic reaction and that was all she wrote. Every time I have to take benadryl, if I can't sleep it off, I eat...got to change that behavior! Ok, confession time is over, time to get back on track. A new day has dawned!

Hello Ladies! I am new to the 5'3" and Under team. I posted my into a few days ago and the responses were so encouraging! My holiday challenge is to eat within my calorie range on 5 of the 7 days of the week and to exercise (cardio) at least 5 days a week. I am new to strength training so that schedule will come later. I will post my progress to remain accountable. A healthier me is in the works!

My November goal is to loose 4 lbs and do a minimum of 1000 cardio minutes. So far I am off to a good start. The only thing I find difficult about working out is not feeling guilty. I feel like I should be washing the dishes, or raking the yard or doing the laundry but I have to keep reminding myself that, that stuff can wait my health can not. I am not doing this just to fit into smaller clothing. I want to be FIT, HEALTHY.

My personal goal is to be down to 120lbs by the new year. I've started setting weekly goals in my blog to help me reach this larger overall goal. Just broke through my plateau with a 5.5lb loss, so I'm feeling extra encouraged to keep doin' what I'm doin'.

my challenge with the coming months is to get more of this weight off. i have been sitting at a plateau, mostly of my own doing, for a bit now and enough is enough. so i will get my walks/runs in six days a week and my calories at least five. i will post here daily to keep up with this and to hold me accountable to me. good luck to you mimi_B on your goals.

I'll go ahead and post what I'm going to use as my personal challenge over the next two months...

I'm going to continue to work on my strength training (I wasn't so successful with this in October!!). I've recently set up my fitness plan to include 4 days a week of strength training focusing on different set of muscles for each day. So, I'm going to challenge myself to stick to this schedule of strength training! WooHoo!!

My schedule looks like this:
Monday = Lower body
Wednesday = Upper body
Friday = Core
Saturday = Full body

I'm ready to do this!! :-)

Hello all! Believe it or not, we are moving into the Holiday season as we begin the month of November. Wow!! There are many holidays in the next months (no matter what your religion!) that present special challenges to those of us who are trying to be healthy... that's right... I'm talking about all the food and the desire to just veg on the couch rather than exercise!!!

So, we begin our most important Challenge time of the whole year... let's combine the next two months for a Holiday Season Challenge! Are you ready?? :-)

I've posted specific challenges over the last several months (with mixed success/participation)... so, I would like to open this Holiday Challenge up for each of you to develop your own personal challenge. It could be a nutrition challenge, a cardio challenge, or a strength training challenge. We are all different and have different goals, so we may all be working on very different challenges! But, this can be our common place to post our successes, obstacles, and support/encouragement to each other.

READY? GO!!!! :-)

Mimi
PURPOSEFUL!
