Way cool Sheri, better late than never right? Anything that keeps one motivated. Next time you get a Sassy haircut, as soon as your DH comes home, look him straight in the face and keep shaking your head around and have your hair touch his face and do a little dance for him.....play coy and ask him if he notices anything different. If he still doesn't notice, start playing with your hair and keep looking at him seductively. He may still not notice, but NOW you have his attention! emoticon emoticon

Just trying to be helpful.... emoticon

I just read through the posts and you all make me smile! emoticon

I somehow didn't get emails when folks posted (my cheating way to remind myself of challenges etc...) So, I forgot about the challenge most of the month.

I sure enjoyed reading about everyones successses! You have inspired me!

I did get my hair cut a new way...lots of sassy layers...husband sees the receipt (not even looking at me...) "got your hair cut?"...men!!!

I also talked DH into driving three hours to visit our daughter who couldn't make it home for Christmas because of a new job. We took her presents, had dinner together, she had to go to work at 11 we stayed the night and drove home in the morning...short but sweet visit...not a typical thing for us to do! Also had Japanese food...haven't had too often...loved my salmon dish and miso soup!

Looking forward to the next challenge! I may keep this one going to stir up my gray cells in the brain!

Gabi, Thank you for your kind words. I hope ou find relief soon for your back hip and leg.

Nothing outrageous going on here. I did spend last night laughing at my son in TN. Tey were getting lots of snow and I told him how glad I was that I wasn't there. Should I feel sorry for him? I don't think so! His classes were cancelled today, so he has a 4-day weekend. BooHoo.

Anyway, I hope everyone here has a long weekend and that you all enjoy it! emoticon

And MAC, God bless you for your patience! You did a great thing for your MIL and are doing a great thing with your Mom. Even though it is a hard thing, you are blessed for the kindness you have given them. We always have to remember it may be the last time we may see someone and it is better that they remember you and you remember them in a good way. emoticon emoticon

I'm sorry that I was so lame on this challenge. It didn't help that I was in a lot of pain with my back, hip and leg......It certainly wasn't on the agenda as you could imagine...... emoticon

So my MIL left today to FL for a 2 month visit with her other son. To celebrate The girls I workout with did a 45 minute Zumba dvd. (My version of a happy dance.) Came home to find out that she got sick after she arrived. That was one of the reasons why she stayed with us for a month. Well I have my mini vacation. emoticon

OK. You ladies rock! And I'm not doing well with this challenge. The only outrageous thing I have done is not kill the mothers. I've had my MIL living with us for the past month and the comments that come out of her mouth have driven me to the brink. My DH reminds me that she doesn't know what she says so I bite my tongue and try not to snap.
My mother isn't much better. For a woman who says she changed pain doctors so it isn't such a burden for me to drive her all the time, she has corraled me into five appointments within a six week period. To boot, she likes to make snide comments about how I look and how much exercise I get.
I'm tempted to tell everyone to go shove it and take myself on a mini vacation.

PS: Thanks for letting me vent.

Wacked off some of my hair! My hair was annoying me and we were doing this challenge, sooooo why not??

How does it look, you ask? DH didn't even notice. LOL

DH and I have been having some interesting conversations b/c of this challenge:
Last night, while watching last season's episodes of The Voice, there was a young gal contestant who had half blond hair and half dark. I asked DH, "I like that, I want to do that!"

DH studied the hair, and replied, "Think it would look best on straight hair, and yours isn't straight."

He took me seriously!!!!!! Yesouer! emoticon

Yesterday: Was goofing around. Had a song going through my head. Ya know how it is? I got carried away. Well, I sang some of it aloud and danced a bit --- in front of my husband. OH, the look and his face!!!! LOL

I'm kind of an introvert and I don't make friends very easily. But I asked an acquaintance to join me to go to a new meeting and I was happy and surprised when we talked and had some things in common. And we only had a moment or two of awkward silence (I hate those).

Love the hippo thing!! Such creative thinking.
I went to and spoke at a county commission meeting yesterday. I was shaking when I got done but I hope it helped.

Still waiting to make the rutabaga! I wasn't home for dinner yesterday, and I was too tired on Wednesday, and didn't think they would go well with chili.

Today: DH has a hippo collection. DH still has his Christmas village out. So.... I took command and had the hippos 'invade' the Christmas village. Will be interesting to note how long it will take him to notice. :-)

Also picked up neighbor's windblown debris. (Probably would have done it anyway.)

I did a radical thing. Kinda. I am the quiet shy person who doesn't usually like to be the leader. I am comfortable as a co-leader. But, not usually the LEADER. If ya know what I mean. Well, I am part of a few diff on-line communities. One is for the group of parents whose sons all went to bootcamp together. Someone decided to start a get fit challenge. We all started sharing our idea's. I spread the SP a bit. Others mentioned it, too. Someone said "if we get enough interest, we could start our own SP team." I thought it a great idea. I did my homework about if it's poss to have a private team. You can. So, I went ahead and figured I'd start the group....so it would be there when others joined SP. I kinda hadn't thought about that starting one means there are NO previous postings. I mean NADA. Duh. Naturally, that is the case. We have only 4 team members at the moment. I am the one generating the conversations.....coming up with topics....realizing it's not that difficult. I can do this. With only a few members, I didn't know if anyone would answer the questions presented, or put forth an effort....but, they are. This makes me smile. I stepped out on a limb and it didn't kill me. emoticon

Don't be jealous the massage was 60 minutes of torture... what felt great was when it was over.
The Epsom Salt bath last nite was a lot nicer, just 2 cups of salt in the tub, a pinch of vitamin C to get rid of the chlorine, and in I went to marinate!

Anyone can do the Epson Salt thingie, a bag of the stuff is super cheap (like $6 last itme I bought it) and available at Walmart. Gets rid of all your aches and pains.

Brandt
Congrats on getting your van cleaned out!
I agree its not easy coming up with a variety of healthy things that everyone likes in the family. Ran into that problem this winter break when youngest came home from college. She left today, so its back to my regular way of eating. My pocket book is happy, but my hearts a little sad today, seeing her drive off to school. Hhhhh.

This is getting interesting just to read, lol.

Elisa you trying to do it all in one day, lol.

Sorry my life is well either real normal or simple

I'm just trying to learn how to cook things as natural as possible some things are not that easy.
The only think as of late I did was was our van, it sure did need it, all the salt and sand from our snow storms. Now the van looks real nice. Other then this my life is busy but simple.

ha, love your day of outrageous behavoir, Eliza... inclusive of the illustrative emoticons!

My massage was... PAINFUL... because I was so tight due to the imbalances due to scoliosis.
The masseuse was on the same wavelength as me, so no modesty discomfort... they make sure there's no TMI moments by keeping your covered.

Wish I could afford to go a couple of times a week, I felt great for a few hours.
Time for an Epson Salt Bath... the poor woman's massage!

Sounds like a fun day, Elisa. Hopefully, DH came back!

I didn't do anything fun or outrageous-did take down the Christmas tree and 1/2 the other decorations, did 7 batches of laundry, and other housework. Maybe tomorrow will let me do something fun or outrageous.

I hear ya on the massage!

Well today I had a bit of fun: I rummage through my froofroo stash. ~
I moused my hair emoticon ( was surprised the container still worked fine).
I tried a different perfume. emoticon Phew!
I painted my toe nails. emoticon A pilate feat!
Used a bright-colored lipstick. emoticon
And sprayed glitter on me. emoticon

Results? DH's reaction ~ emoticon He tore out of the house!

You're welcome Suge, I needed to know too!
Elisa, Yum I love cold protein! I make up a pot of boiled organic chicken every week for my green veggie lunch soup... when my daughters were here full time, I always had a cold cooked chicken in the fridge for quickie lunches and snacks.

Back to the Challenge....
Today I picked up someone's yoga stuff when they weren't looking at the end of class.

Tomorrow I'm going for my first professional massage. I fell prey to a Groupon... Massage in theory sounds great, but the actuality of a total stranger rubbing my body while I'm laying there in a state of undress for an hour kinda has me freaked out.

MZZ: Thanks for the info! I have some unflavored gelatin I could use. :-)

Just made patties. Simple enough. Just ate a cold patty straight from the fridge ; tasty.

Sometimes low fat ground turkey meat can be super dry, esp the breast meat. I made a turkey burger years ago from the stuff, and the texture of the patty was like a wad of wet tissue paper. YUCK.

YUM apples are an excellent idea!
Another one is to add some unflavored gelatin... dissolve this in water first... it adds a good mouthfeel and makes the meat juicy without adding fat calories.

Did you make patties or did you get the sausage casings and stuff it?
I've never done casings before!

I'm not doing very well with this Challenge. :-(

Will this do? I'm not a sausage fan for many reasons. However, a long time ago, I had apple sausage at a restaurant (before SP). I really liked the combination of flavors.

So, today, I made Homemade Turkey Sausage. It was okay. A bit dry. Plan on adding bits of apple to it.

So looked up "what is the diff between rutabagas and turnips?" and here's the answer.

Totally cool, the rutabagas have been a staple since paleolithic times... and yep, that's what Mom made every Thanksgiving from the family recipe because the mash was orange, it wasn't white the way turnips are.

Well, I bought both a turnip and a rutabaga. The recipe for rutabagas mixes them and carrots.

I stayed with the adventurous vegetable idea and made a side dish of broccoli, onion, and mushrooms, with a touch of thyme and olive oil. It wasn't too bad!

Good one MZZ!

Maybe we need to do more research on rutabagas and turnips. Seems the grocery store believes it is too different things. They ARE both root veggies.

Okay, gotta figure out what 'different' thing I'm going to do today or whatever.

ha, I just read this thread down...

As for peeps looking for ideas... IMO the jist of "outrageous' it is isn't doing something borderline illegal or that would land you in the psyche ward...(that's what outrageous means to me).

Outrageous as defined here... is just dong something that's a change for the positive for yourself or someone else...is an act not in your usual bag of tricks... trying something new, different... taking a chance, streeeeetttttcccching yourself just a wee lil bit to think outside the box... creative problem solving, positive surprises for someone else, breaking with routine.

Put your thinking glasses on and have some fun with it!

Suge... I thought rutabagas and turnips were the same thing?
Mom used to make turnips for Thanksgiving, it required a pound of bacon and its grease, plus butter, needless to say it was delish but evil enuf only to have once a year. ha

Not sure how outrageous this is.
Apparently my daughter thinks it is judging from her reaction!

Yesterday I tried a recipe with turnips in it.(I've never made turnips before). The fish came out well, the turnips-OK but not a long time winner. Monday? Rutabagas?

Thanks Elisa for your additional ideas. I don't know if this fits but I went outside and chopped up the ice and shoveled the snow from the driveway and in front of the garage doors that house my DH's and his son's cars. Neither one of them likes to do that.

My outrageous deed for the day was to leave home. emoticon Before my mil drove me crazy, I went out. Of course I went to hr house to pick up the mail and check on things. We are having work done on her house (she was supposed to be in Florida) and she is staying with us until it is done.

I was waiting for someone to ask. emoticon

Here is what MZZ said in the Possible Challenges topic,
"Do something unexpected?" mabbe?
or "Do something different/try something new?"

Do something outrageous makes me thing of dancing in the street nakid, drinking and driving, toilet papering someone's yard, putting a bag of dog doo on a neighbor's stoop, lighting it and ringing the doorbell, tipping cows, wearing stillettos, fishnet stockings and a micromini skirt to the PTA meeting, robbing banks in a clown mask, going to the opera dressed in Harley motorcycle leathers ...."

Okay, now for something others may REALLY do:

Bringing a neighbor's newspaper to their doorstep.
Picking up someone's gym equipment when they aren't looking after class.
Doing a chore one of your family members doesn't want to do without saying anything.
Raking fallen leaves out of the street.
Picking up trash in your neighborhood.
Reporting street lights that are out in your neighborhood.

Does this help?

Friday is fine by me. All I was saying is that the mindset seems to be to start on Monday or the first of the month or the first of the year, etc. I think it's great that this will start on Friday. It fits into the theme of the challenge.

Two-week Challenge, starting Friday, January 4th.

Challenge will end Friday, January 18th.

You do NOT have to do this every day.

DO SOMETHING OUTRAGEOUS! (Including Random Acts of Kindness)

Have you ever seen a puddle of water that was stagnate? There's not circulation, no fresh water course, the water just sits there. If left over time, bacteria can form and the water can turn green.

Are you turning green? Are you already green? Are you in a rut?

The Challenge: Do something that people won't expect. And report back!

It is good to occasionally do something that seems outrageous to people and perhaps even to you. It will keep your life interesting and keep other people from thinking they have you tucked away nicely in a little box of their own design.

Doing something outrageous means different things to different people. For one it might mean climbing Mount Hood and to another it might mean a clothing style change, or doing a Random Act of Kindness, or dancing!

Keep life fresh and exciting. Not stupid things, but outrageously creative and different for you!

Get a different haircut, or a different style. Paint your nails green or purple. Check out a Zumba class!

If you need more ideas, let us know....
