Everyday, the dog & I walk by a new store that has locally made (from our state) products. The only time I'd been in it was when it first opened up. My treasure yesterday was walking to the store with DH and actually going inside (instead of viewing it through the window wistfully...) It was fun to see what all they had. Bought a jam called "Toe Jam"...not what it sounds like, of course.....as it is made from strawberries, cherries, apples & peaches, has a good calorie count, etc.....
What was your favorite? Did you take the little zoo train to the rose garden? I used to have a T-shirt with the train on it.

Went to Oregon with DH and we walked the beautiful Newport beaches; visit the aquarium; went up two lighthouses; went to Portland and visited the Rose Garden; Zoo; Grotto; Columbia Gorge; Klamath Falls; Crater Lake. I do not think we ever stopped walking. There were other towns along the way and the scenery was breathtaking.

My treasure is well not really it's not a treasure I slept in, set DH off to work then crawled back into bed. Feel much better. I'm going to help my youngest go through all the treasurers that he has in his room & help or should i said encourage him to get ride of, lol.

Ok, just read your original posting on what the summer fun is about. Oops, sorry I lost it along the way. We are treasure hunting.....
Saturday, we had a Blues Fest in our town. So, the treasures I discovered on our morning walk were seeing some of the tents being put up. The evening walk was to take the dog on a side street and hope that that would help acclimate her to the sounds of live music (since she totally freaked out upon hearing the marching band at the parade I tried taking her to & had to leave....) Well, same result. Being one street over wasn't far enough of way as far as she was concerned. We headed home pronto.
Sunday, we discovered an out of place circle of chairs (ppl sitting around, reading over their lines for a play). Betsy saw the out-of-place circle a block away and nearly freaked (even tho they weren't making any noise.) Yes, she has a skittish side. We walked past the ppl in chairs and she saw that they weren't going to do anything scary, after all.

Summer is not fun right now. Sorry, don't mean to be sassy. It's just this hot weather making me cranky. I haven't been keeping the lawn watered, but I've been keeping my plants watered. Enjoying the blooms. The other morning I cleaned out one of my perennial gardens. I found out a certain flower I had planted was very toxic to dogs (not a good thing in my yard!) So, I dug things up and did some much needed weeding. What a hot and sweaty job that turned out to do.

Went with my DH to Washington state for 13 days! We kayaked to an island, saw flowers, harbor seals, and sea urchins. We saw lot's of trees (we don't have many around here in NM). Also walked some and ate some berries my husband calls salmon berries-Tasty!

Cinta is my summer fun place - well more than that really. It's a camp site where DH and I got married 30 years ago (in August) and it has always been fun to go back there. This year it's the young families' camp they have asked me to conduct next week. So, I'll be waking up at dawn to watch the sun come out and have coffee at the sea when noone is around and the water is still. Swimming is fun - but everything about that place is great.

I know Elisa, that was the worst part, you want to rest but it hurts to just stand there at that incline. My other summer fun was to walk around the local golf course. Walking the entire course would have taken too long (maybe another time), but walking around was marvelous. I love the look and feel of the green grass, it's so calming and serene. I'm just glad I don't have to maintain all that greenery.

LOL CINDY! We have a mountain here where the path goes straight up. Tried it once. Hated it. No place to level out my feet. No place to rest. The view was incredible, tho.
Just about at any time of the day, one can see people hiking it. ugh

I went on a hike a "friend" suggested. And now I realize why he had a smirk on his face. The trail went straight up a mountain. I didn't make it to the top, but the views from the halfway point were spectacular, until the fog came in. I saw a bunch of lizards, some leftover wildflowers and plenty of other, health-consious hikers. What a great bunch of people!

Yesterday: went for a walk in my neighborhood: talked to another walker and walked w/ her some. Discovered a artichoke plant. Never have seen one before. They are as round as bushes and about as tall as me!
Today: went for a walk in the other direction. talked to a neighbor. Discovered strawberries! Can't get to them tho, like last summer. The good news is that my 3 strawberries on my new plant are larger than those.

I spotted a cactus blooming beautifully beside our driveway as we walked some new friends to the car!
I have just spent most of the last 3 days at our Annual Church conference and it was great to see old friends, make new ones, and celebrate what God would have us do for Him! Also, when you get 100+ pastors and the leaders from their churches together the music is fantastic!!!

While mowing the lawn & working in the yard yesterday, I was happy to see that my black & white hollyhocks (I planted in honor of our black & white dog who passed away last year) are starting to bloom. I am especially excited about the black flowers, as I have never grown any before.

The treasures on our walk last night, was the cute puppy we saw. I love Labbie puppies! They are bumblingly adorable. The treasure on our walk today, was seeing all the interesting stuff people have carted to the curb for the community wide big item trash pick up. Betsy has thought she needed to sniff it all, to make sure it's not alive.

Some times I've heard birds and see some kinds of insects....for sure lawn mowers.
I've had some good tracks to walk on well made......on with the long walks and it's nature:)

I DID go on a walk later in the evening,but..... earlier in the day, I was out in the garage with my loser of a sale. My neighbor & good friend stopped over to chat. She picked up some bowls and said she was surprised I was selling them. They are the nice, airtight Tpprware bowls. So, THAT is what I will say my "treasure" of the day was. The thing is, I priced them & figured I didn't need plastic bowls. I have a nice ceramic set. When I was browsing through sourdough starter recipes, tho, I remembered why I like the plastic ones. What did I do? At the end of the day, I brought the plastic set back inside & washed them. Today, I will start a sourdough starter. Never mind that our temps this time of year aren't so good for baking. Phooey with that, I say.
Went for a walk. Discovered my neighbor grows profusely the flowers that my BIL likes. Now how to sneak a few to him.....

So since this thread's been started, I thought since I did a log wog today I was looking for treasures. I saw a skull of some sort of smaller animal (a cat maybe) and the fur from another dead animal - the kind of stuff you see here in the spring. One of my real treasures was the smell of chokecherry blossoms! Beautiful! Since the only other thing I could smell was me (ewwww yuck stinking sweating b.o.) the flowers were beautiful. But the best treasurers I found were friends. Saw a few on bikes on a beautiful morning!

Not much except wild verbena grows wild here! We did plant the lavender today. We walked the dogs today for the first time in forever. We spotted blooming cacti. Also the yucca this year are blooming well.
I will try the netting over the apple tree. It is too late this year for the cherries! The Christmas ornaments sound interesting. Someone else suggested pie tens cut and spinning. I wonder if those spinners they sell everywhere might work.

SUGAR: Lavender plants grow like weeds around here. DH can't stand the smell b/c there's so much of it. LOL Try putting red Christmas tree ornaments in your cherry tree. May keep some of the birds at bay. Or putting a net over it. Wish I could grow a cherry tree here.
LNSY: One of the funnest things to do during Y.S.s is People Watch. Truly fascinating! During one C-W sale, I posted a big sign that said, "Will NOT barter until after 11:00 a.m." When DH and I were more fully awake and wouldn't be taken advantage of. LOL
Gotta go look for some Treasures, now.....

The "treasure" I discovered today were the 2+ hours I spent in my garage, as I was greeting people. Some were very sweet as they looked through our stuff. (That's always a bit interesting & strange as people look through your things). Anyway, the treasures are how fun it is to meet people & the good feeling of getting rid of some of the excess we have accumulated in the 21+ years we've lived here.
Does it feel like summer here?? It sure doesn't feel like it this rainy day, but last weekend was in the 90s. THAT felt like summer!

SUGAR: Looking forward to reading about all your Treasures. :-)
Got a kick out of the pirate, too.

Going on a Treasure Hunt! (June, July and August)
Feel free to join at any time.
Take a walk, hike, stroll, jog, run, bike ride, etc. Minimum ten minutes. Use your powers of observation. What "TREASURE" did you discover?
Come back and report to us what you saw, felt, touched, heard etc. Did you bring anything home? (a feather, rock, a sunburn etc.)
You may post your minutes/ miles as well, and challenge yourself.
