My DH is one of those ppl who can play a good phone prank on his mom for April Fools Day, all without flinching. There is NO WAY I could do something like that! I am one to laugh so much when telling a joke, that no one can hear me tell the punch line.
Our absolute favorite of pranks (and this only worked before they invented caller ID) was when DH called his mom from work (of all things, he was in the break room and had an audience...yet STILL was able to pull this off without laughing). He called her and disguised his voice. He said he was the neighbor, and she'd better go check her driveway b/c her car was left running in the driveway. She went out to check the driveway. The really funny part of this is that DH said his name was EV'ryYear IGotchaGin. Now, the fast way that he said his name, it sounded a bit like he was saying Xzavier (am I spelling that right??) Then, of course, when she got back on the phone to talk with the "neighbor" (b/c she had actually left the phone off the hook & went to check the driveway), she knew that it was her son and he'd fooled her AGAIN. She got so she'd tell us looooong before April Fools Day that she was NOT going to be answering the phone ALL day, so DH wouldn't be able to do his usual phone prank. BUT, the day would come around and she'd end up picking up the phone anyway. Poor ma.
Caller ID ended those phone pranks. DH tried calling from my cell phone once (thinking that she wouldn't recognize the #) , but she was too smart and figured out whose cell it was.
