I'm a little different on the exercise front as I'm trying to ease back into exercise, but know that after the 1st of the year, I'll hopefully swing back into it full force.
Since I travel for Christmas, I rarely decorate, though I had a yen to this year. Maybe next year. Nothing elaborate though. I also have very few people to shop for so that makes it easy. And, since I was getting behind in some stuff, I started sending out New Year's cards last year and found I liked it. A little extra time for me and I still get to touch base with folks.

I like the personal note idea, Berry4. My house isn't a postcard Christmas this year, either. Truth is, I barely put up any decorations at all. I've been concentrating on the homemade gifts lately, and I always feel best about those. Yes, I've purchased some, too.
CindyRamie, that's an excellent idea about the big batch cooking and then dividing it into serving sized portions. When I am alone and hungry are the times I'm most apt to grab whatever food is most convenient.....good idea to have healthy options at hand. I don't do that all the time, but have been known to freeze part of a huge dinner I've served. When I was searching in the freezer last night for todays pork chops to thaw, I found a serving size mystery container. It turned out to be Enchiladas. I was glad to have that for my dinner last night instead of cereal. Just sayin.

I really am working hard at taking it a "day-at-a-time".
When I got carried away w/ junk last week, I headed to the gym and came away with renewed resolve to lose these last 10#'s. So it DOES make a difference what I eat. -- I will be signing up for 3 training sessions tomorrow which hopefully will kick my gym time up a notch. I truly aim for 5-6 days cardio & 2 days ST on EVERY week of the year. That is the lifestyle I'm creating.
As to Christmas, it isn't "picture quality" here, but that is just where we are at right now. The goal is not to stay here and to improve. -- I decided that I would write a personal note to each person / family who take the time to send a card our way. If that takes me until the end of January, that will be okay, because it is more important to me to build relationships than to "party hearty".

Busyness can be a good thing cause I don't have time to just sit and snack. But it can be a bad thing cause I eat more convenience foods. So, I have a bunch of good convenience foods ready for on-the-go: string cheese, apple slices, bananas, beef jerkey. And once a week I make big batches of foods for leftovers ready for the next week, like salads (put them in small, single-serving containers helps to keep them fresh), stews, rice torta, chicken for sandwiches. It sure helps.
We like our walks here, too......and really miss them when there is pouring rain (like yesterday)!! I just like feel like I should add other exercise in the day as well, and try to whenever I can...(like a DVD.) Lately, I've been using the Zumba DVDs. Yesterday was a non productive day as far as all that goes.....unless you count getting some Christmas shopping done, doing laundry, cooking dinner.....
Other than getting sick and taking one day off work....should have been two...I'm not falling off the wagon, just taking a much needed break. I stepped on the scale this morning and found that I'd lost 2 pounds so that's something, even if I'm not exercising right now. I'm still eating healthy and not as much since I'm not working out. Once this sickness leaves, I can get back into the swing of things again.

I have been dealing with family issues for the past couple of months and fell off the wagon sometime in October - so am committing to start a new - again - round 3 or restarting my journey....3rd times a charm right ?
HIt the gym on Saturday, then this morning - plus I just did a 2.12 mile walk at 3.2 miles per hour speed - 5300 steps. Was going to do zumba tonight but it is cancelled.
Baby steps. We are also not hosting a xmas party this year, so that will save calories.

I really am not that worried about staying on course the last month of the year.
I will just start all over again with each new day.
I am not going to beat myself up just because of a piece or bite of cake or pie or some other decadent good and treat.
This is Christmas and time to celebrate the season of love and miracles and sharing all the good things of life and for loving, laughing, singing and dancing and decoratiing and cooking and baking and eating and just spreading merriement for the last month of the year.
Laughed at your post for multiple reasons. First, your explanation. No need to apologize, Honey, since we're all in the same boat. Then, when I read the question I for sure lol.
My husband has helped me w/ that problem this year. He decided (w/ my reluctant agreement) to schedule a scuba diving trip the beginning of January! Not only do I have to put on a bathing suit, but the diving itself is very physically strenuous. I need to be in at least some semblance of healthy condition, so that's my great motivation for upping my exercise & being very picky about the food I put in my mouth. Sorry it might not help motivate anyone else, though. :)
Oh my goodness! I got so busy with Christmas projects, and birthday stuff.....that I totally forgot about a "question of the week". Sorry! I'm going to pose this question and it may be the only one posted before Christmas....just because we're all so busy.
SO, with busyness in mind...how are you all doing with the craziness that is December? How are your fitness and nutrition goals going everyday, especially with the holiday parties and goodies that ppl are bringing in to work, etc? What are you doing to avoid certain pitfalls?
There are only so many hours in a day! So, for myself, my time is used up a lot with working on sewing projects....but, that doesn't leave much time for exercising. So, I am trying my best to work it all in. Weather permitting, I always take the puppy on her walk.....but, walking isn't my favorite exercise for burning calories....if ya know what mean.
