LAST DAY: Had to ask DH last night for suggestions on what to declutter. LOL Ended up deluttering a toy chest that we use in the kitchen (first piece of furniture I've ever fallen in love with). Tossed cardboard and plastic bags. The Good News is that, by organizing the chest, I was able to fit more stuff in that needed a home. Yippee!

NEXT CHALLENGE starts Tomorrow, SATURDAY! See new Post.

Wow! I wish I had your energy too! I picked up a cold somewhere and my energy level is down. I did plant a plant in the garden and throw it's pot away as well as sort out lot's of newspapers left from my trip. I also worked on finishing a cross-stitch gift for my sister that is 5 years late. I can score a big declutter when I give it to her!

July 14: Decluttered a shelving unit that's in my kitchen area. Moved along a few things. THOUGHT about tossing a few things, but thought I'd better wait.

7/13: This is getting frustrating. Running out of things to decluttter. When moving furniture around, found a piece of paper. Gave it to DH hoping he'd say we could toss it so I could say I decluttered something. NO Such Luck! VERY disappointing. However, I still have tonight to try to find something. LOL

Okay, okay.... I got desperate here. I decluttered the computer! Deleted a bunch of stuff. Hopefully, it isn't stuff that DH will miss.....

REALLY wanted to declutter something. No such luck, today.

My desk is still dismantled. Stuff is in piles on the floor. Talk about stressors, here. Geesh!

Trying really hard to figure out if I could say that I decluttered my fridge. Nope. I just took everything out of the old fridge and put it in ice chests. Then later, put everything back in the newer fridge. Darn!

Yep, still having fridge problems. Well, not at this exact moment. Woke up early to check the Fridge's temps b/f DH went to work. Whew!

Here's an idea: Let us end this Challenge as usual. THEN immediately start a new, slightly different challenge ~~ Clean and/or Organize something you usually don't get around to. Those tasks can also include decluttering. Again, a 2-week Challenge.

What do you think?

I'm for keeping it going.
Your right Elisa this is helping to get things cleaned up & done. And as long as many of the team members are doing it like Linsey says lets keep going.
But we will leave the final decision in your hands.
Just let me know before Friday if it's tally time or we are going to pause it for a time.

And Elisa your having fridge problems still?

I say as long as the interest in this challenge is strong, we should continue it throughout the month of July.

For me, I'm going through the stack of magazines on my coffee table & getting rid of them as they're read..... 3 down, umpteen to go....

Challenge ends Friday, July 15.

This has been a fun challenge. Should we continue for the rest of the month? Or take a break, and make it the challenge for next month?? Or, do it again..... after Christmas......??

I'm finding that this is a way for me do to my Spring Cleaning, this year.

I was going to declutter my desk. However, I had to dismantle it to get it out of the way to move the non-working fridge (again!) Spent all day dealing with THAT, instead of anything else. Whew! Sure getting my Steps, in tho. LOL I'm tired......

JUST a note to every one only 3 more days until this challenge is over. That is unless our fearless leader ELISA says other wise.

I've been taking the tally on this it's been quite interesting to see who's all do what.

So Elisa do we keep going or is July 13th our last day to report on this challenge?

FLUFF: Excellent!

ECON: You are very brave!!

Day 10: Decluttered and organized coffee table. Was able to move along: DH's broken pen desk topper holder thing he never seemed to get around to fixing. Tossed: Old bookmark I made and some papers.

We are about half way through this Challenge. How do you feel? Less stressed, yet? More organized? How does your place look?

I've been trying to toss the junk mail each day so it doesn't get piled up on the kitchen table. I'm hoping to tackle the pantry and then the frig/freezer this week so I can get rid of tempting items ~ I've gone back to WW again, so I need to freshen these areas with healthy pointsplus choices.

July 8: FINALLY did the filing. DH helped. Thank goodness. Tossed a big pile of papers. Felt wonderful! Did you know that if one keeps papers around long enough, there isn't a need to file them anymore? LOL

This morning, I started to declutter my SPmail by deleting 24 pages from the "sent" messages. I started on the "inbox" & need to finish later. Also, DH & DS were cleaning the garage and I helped with a lil bit of throwing out here & there...and giving those old ski-life-perserver vests to our cousin who lives at the lake.....

Yes, Elisa! Thank you very much for this decluttering challenge....because it has made me actually do more than just THINKING ABOUT what I needed to get rid of....but, to actual do it. And, it DOES feel good. Don't count this as a new entry (since I've already mentioned it previously) but today was my day to give away the lap blankies to the animal shelter. I'd been making a small stack of them & it just felt really good to give them away today.... one less stack of clutter....and, again, always happy to find a recipient for our "stuff".

Of course, it all seems to hardly make a dent....so, I need to keep busy with this....find more things to get rid of....

Excellent, Ladies!!

for me: decluttered the L.R. closet. Took three days to do it. I had to do it in Baby Steps. Moving along: jacket, sweater, and coats hangers, bed and bag. Tossed.... junk.

Feels good, doesn't it?!

Here in Michigan, we need our snow boots. I'd gotten a cute pair for DD last winter that she later decided she didn't want. In the meantime, I'd thrown away the receipt. emoticon The other night DS's GF was here and I decided to ask her if she'd like the boots. They were never worn, plus, I'd bought very nice gel inserts (which cost as much as the boots...) That's my decluttering story! GF wanted the boots & the inserts. Woo Hoo! I love it when I can find a recipient for something.

My other decluttering story is that yesterday I sent off a doggy present for a friend of mine (yes, some of us celebrate doggy birthdays!), and in the pkg I'd included the last 2 un-used tennis balls from my dear Sally's vast collection of tennis balls. She was OCD for the game of fetch. Again, happy to find a recipient!

Thinking of doing it myself.

Yesterday, I decided it was time to declutter my "caboodle" container (where I keep my make-up). That stuff DOES expire...so am going to work on going through and seeing what I can get rid of....

Also, am gradually working on clearing out & using foods that are in our chest freezer. DH wanted me to clean it out in a day (b/c it's time to defrost it). I said to give me time to cook up stuff that's in there, instead. (Much less stress on me that way.) SO, it'll be a work in progress. Today, I took out a frozen concentrate lemonade and mixed it up; took out a frozen WW bread dough and have it thawing/rising on the counter; and cooking the 2 "pork tornadoes" (torpedos? can't remember what they're called) in the crockpot. When I decided to bake the bread, I didn't figure that it was going to be hot this afternoon. It IS sposed to be hot. Oh well, can't have everything! emoticon

I've recently discovered that the Humane Society likes donations of old lap sized blankies for their dog cages. I don't why I never thought of that before. SO, today I've been putting together a pile of blankies to donate.

This is Michigan, mind you, where I get COLD in the winter and appreciate my lap quilts. BUT, I've decided that...YES...there are some I could part with and still have plenty left to keep me warm this winter.

Btw, even something like donating old, quilted placemats is a good idea for a cats kennel.... Just a thought, incase you needed some ideas. emoticon emoticon

Yesterday I cleaned up (Shredded, tossed, and organized) about 1 square foot of my office floor. Not much but the challenge was 1 thing. I meant to give away a commemorative plate to a friend today but forgot it! Next Sunday?

Decluttered our bedroom closet. Moved along some of my pants, (didn't like them anyway).

Tossed some papers, used notebooks, old maps, etc.

Also got around to decluttering the yard (DH decided to do some yard work). AND decluttered our bookshelf. Moved along one bookmark and tossed some others. LOL DH was right by me, making sure I wasn't 'decluttering' his stuff.

This may sound silly, but I am going to clean out my purse. For Mother's Day my hubbie gave me a $50 gift certificate for Macy's. I ended up buying a new purse. I've been feeling guilty, because I don't need a new purse. Today I am cleaning out my purse and moving to the new purse!

UNIS: Excellent! Did it feel good?

for me: Decluttered the big bathroom -- was able to toss a few things, remove a few things... organize and clean. A bit labor intensive, but MY! It DOES feel good.

Also, decluttered my purse -- was able to toss a couple things, remove a few things, ....organize. Didn't have to clean. Was nice to be able to sit to do this one.

ECON: Go for it!! May make you feel even better!!

for me: Decluttered and organized the small bathroom ~~ tossed three boxes.

Decluttered AND organized my sewing box. It took me HOURS to do! LOL

Tossed some thread, spool labels and weird stuff.

Moving along bobbins w/ holder, extra straight pins, pin cushion, etc.

I have 132 spools of thread! And I'm not a seamstress!!

What to do with buttons and leftover thread??

This was such an accomplishment (b/c it took so long and I had to be very patient) I took a picture of the final product. N I C E May it stay that was for a long, long time! emoticon

Interesting idea but I don't carry a purse anymore (too much clutter) and I won't be taking a computer. Maybe I will take some newspapers I haven't read yet and read and throw one a day!

Does cleaning out e-mail count? It doesn't really take up room in the house!

Ok! I like this challenge! Today I took library books back, AND I donated one of my own books to them as well. SO, that's my item for the day. I will see what else I can find for the days ahead. I love getting rid of things......unfortunately, it seems to barely make a dent emoticon

This is a continual, ongoing project.....will reach beyond the two weeks.....!

My DH is as bad as I am, maybe worse. I do have two girlfriends who could lend a voice of reason. Good idea!

SEDONA: Can you enlist some help? Someone to be the 'devil's advocate' so to speak, who will ask you questions, like: WHY are you keeping this?

I try to get my DH to do this, but he ends up actually CONVINCING me to keep it! LOL

Oh to declutter...I'll try this but with 5 adults and 2 children living in our house, it will be interesting to see if I can do it.

I started to day, I had put off doing what I did to day for months.

I started to clean up my bed room, after all the moving my families done this past summer I had no desire to really do any thing like this.

I am so on this. I need to do this when the weather gets hot. You have no idea how much cooler your house will be when you get rid of the uneccessary stuff (your children unfortunately have to stay).

July is SP's Less Stress month. This is a TWO-week challenge. You may join any time.

Daily Declutter: This is a fun way to keep our lives as simple and stress-free as possible. Let us know how you are doing with this.

July's Challenge is to remove at least one (1) item from your house per day. It can be a piece of junk mail, an extra shirt that you know you are not going to wear again, a book you've read and can now donate or pass along, etc.

Clutter is defined, "A confused or disordered state or collection. To litter or pile in a disordered state. To run or move with bustle and confusion

Other words for Clutter are: litter, mess, jumble, disarrange, disorder, unsettle, disorganize, shuffle, confused medley, hodgepodge, mishmash, odds and ends, trash

Challenge ends Friday, July 15.

Good luck everyone! Here's to less stress!! emoticon
