At home (barely) I have difficulty getting myself to workout anywhere. I don't care for gyms and can't afford now anyway. I do have a treadmill but finding time is difficult. I walk for 30 minutes daily but the smoke in the air is really affecting me right now. It will get better.

I work out at home most of the time. I'm a member at Lifetime fitness and rarely go. This is a chronic pattern with me. I join some place and always resort to my wonderful family room with all of my own equipment. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

At home all the way. Have a treadmill, bike, bowflex & wii. Would just like to add a stepper to my collection. Funny thing is, it fits best in my living room. When people first walk through my door they see exercise equipment. Hey...I got the family room for entertaining!!
I have exercised diligently for over 5 years now.

I've tried lots of things in the past. Home with a treadclimber and small weights and the Wii Active. You can definitely do it at home. The gym isn't for everyone, especially if you don't feel comfortable there. I was active duty for Army for three years and had the greatest body of my life and mostly I just did running 3x a week, push-ups and sit-ups!

There is always a happy medium, middle-ground, compromise. Make good choices and be a great role model.

Lead by example.

I worked out at Curves for 4 months plus doing workouts at home. I can't afford Curves anymore so now just do home workouts. I have a Gold's Gym step, weights - 2,3,5,8 pound dumbbells and resistance band & a tube. I have a lot of DVDs but the ones I always fall back on are listed below.

I love the 10 minute solution DVDs!! Just found out about them recently. I can do lots of variety and I always do more than I intended when I started. They are extremely motivating. I can even fit in 1 in the morning before work or on my lunch at work. I have:
Carb Burner, Blast Off Belly Fat, Kickbox Bootcamp, Yoga, Target Toning, and Workouts to Shape Up Your Whole Body which has BootCamp, Pilates, Ballet, Kickboxing & Yoga.

I love Leslie Sansone's DVDs too. My DVD favorites:
WATP - Walk & Kick
WATP - Walk Strong with Interval Strength Training (I use 5lb weights)
WATP- 5mile Advanced Walk using weights, walk belt, resistance band
WATP - Walk Slim 4 Fast Miles and Bonus Jog DVD

I also do the DVD 6 Minute Quick Blast Total Body Calorie Blast from beginning to the end with Tracey Mallett. Love this one.

I also have 2 dogs and live in the country. I've got a great spot to walk with steep hills. Check out photos on my Spark Page.

I know this is long but I always like hearing about the DVDs that people are using and actually LIKE!

I usually work out at home. I love all my workout dvds and my Fluidity bar. If I go to the gym is to use the elliptical only. I don't like using the weight machines there.

Although I'm currently recovering from a concussion, so I'm not allowed to work out (silly doctors) I work out at home on the P90X plan, slightly modified to fit my needs. But I love that I get to pick the intensity and what time works for me that day.

I only recently joined a gym because my doctors have only released me to ride stationary bikes and swim (foot injury). Before joining, though, I was doing everything at home: pilates, the firm dvd, and Leslie Sansone's "Walk Kick" dvd a couple times a week and then was walking 4-6 days a week in a local park. I loved working out at home and walking outside, it was already all paid for and I could do it any time I wanted, no open hours to worry about.

I work out mainly at home, although I do a spinning class 2x a week at the park district.

I use 30 day shred and tae bo dvds. I also walk the dogs every day, bike, rollerblade, hike, garden, clean vigorously, etc.

Hello shorty friends,

I use the gym + workout dvds. But for the next 3 months I will be travelling so I will cancel the gym and only use dvds.
I am on my 90th day of P90x and my plan is to do a second round of p90x and turbo jam with it.

If you feel lazy to go to the gym because of work or baby, you should consider dvds. They are great! I started using them when it was cold in Ny and for me worked great. When I didn't feel like going out of the house in the cold there were no excuse to do the exercise at home!!

P90x is great if you are more in shape and have been exercising for a while but not getting results.
Turbo jam is fun , is dancing with work out!

Hi all! I belonged to a gym several years ago, before Sparking. It was good, but I wasn't very goal-focused... I just went, put in my 30-40 minutes, and left. There was no effect on my nutrition, unfortunately.

When I started Spark, I really wanted to make some changes... but a gym membership was not in the cards. So, I started walking, doing Tae Bo videos, and making up my own circuit training routines with the help of Spark. Now, I'm lucky to have an elliptical training in my home, so that is my main cardio, but I still do all those other things b/c they were my first successes! :-)

I also love this time of year to get a big part of my exercise outside... so, walking with my dogs, gardening, hiking, etc. make up many, many hours of exercise for me.

I work out exclusively at home using my new elliptical trainer. I also try to get in a 30 minute walk every other day but as I have to take my 5 year old daughter with me for now I can't go at a pace that does me much good. I have some Bellydance Fitness for Beginners DVDs that I'm trying to get back into the habit of using.

I tried a gym once - signed up for a 3 month membership and made it there about 3 times and felt horridly embarrassed and awkward the entire time. I think it would have worked out better if I'd had a buddy but I felt very self-conscious by myself - it didn't help that everybody else in the gym was already quite fit. Needless to say I prefer the comfort of my own home. :D

Currently, I only workout at home. I run outside as well as do yoga dvd's and my P90X dvd's. You don't need a gym membership to workout and lose weight. I do like to go to they gym in the winter time, but this winter I might just stick it out at home....inside with my P90X dvd's.

Me! *waves hand* I'm slowly but surely setting up a pretty decent lifting setup at home. Plates, bars, handles, a weight rack, computer (for any DVDs), bands, step, stereo, HR monitor, and a DVD collection. Next on purchase is a bench.

I tried the gym but their hours were not convenient for me with a 4 month old, twelve year old and two 15 year old children.

I use my walking DVD, sometimes my belly dance DVD. I will be using my tae bo by July.

I want to start adding strength training this week. (hopefully today)

I work out at home, and my favorite (and most effective) workout has been using Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It's short (so you don't get bored... which I do easily) and crazy hard! You'll SEE results, and it forces you to work hard. Sometimes when I work out on my own, I tend to get lazy... but if someone is yelling at me to keep going then I will!

I am an at home workout kind of girl :) We set up our basement with an elliptical, treadmill and Bowflex and its perfect for me. I get home from work and head straight downstairs for my workout and its perfect because I can't use the excuse that I don't feel like going to the gym. In the summer I do a lot more outdoor activities too, just keep it interesting and challenging for yourself :)

I do better working out at home to DVDs and by using my treadmill. But...for the past year I've had a hard time getting myself back into it. My father pasted Jan. 08 and I've been in a real slump. I haven't gained but about 5 pounds but I can really tell how flabby I have become.

Home is where it is at for me! Treadmill, do a boot camp with some friends, dvd's from the library (free and allows me to mix it up) and my favorite... comcast exercise TV. Every Sunday I plan out my workouts for the week, keeping it lively and different. When the weather is nice outdoors I'll spend an afternoon playing kickball or touch football with the kids, play hopscotch, jump rope etc. FUN and NEW with a plan has helped me now say fitness is part of my life, not just a task on the daily to do list.

I work out at home. I love that it is so convienient, I can decide to exercise anytime, no waiting for machines, can look like I just got out of bed, it is private, can be near my family and it costs less than a gym. I use a treadmill to walk/jog on for 90 minutes four days a week and 30 mins three days a week. I do strength training three days a week with dumbells. I am happy so far doing this for my health. I also have a Wii Fit, and an assortment of DVD's that I like, to change things up. The only reason I would choose to join a gym would be to take classes in zumba or jazzercise but will look into this as seperate classes I can take in the summer when I have more time to take advantage of those things. Overall I really like working out at home!

Exercise is the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth!

I work out at home. I use a Gazelle and walk outside when the weather permits. I also have workout videos. I like being part of the family life while working out rather than going to a gym.

Suzanne :)
