As the weather permits, I walk outside at home or the parks. It makes it more fun and I actually walk faster.

I workout at home. I use my treadmill or DVD's or youtube videos. I think the most outside working out that I do is walking my dog that is nearly as big as me. I just don't feel comfortable in gyms or running outside. I've had some cruel things yelled at me and it is hard enough to motivate myself to workout. Having to deal with that just isn't worth it for me. I know I know "prove them wrong" blah blah blah but as of right now it's just not something I am at all comfortable with. Something to work on though :D

I've had a gym membership for three years now, and as it's a very inexpensive one I love knowing it's there. Sometimes I just want to go and hop on an elliptical or a bike and I can.

That being said, I love working out at home and trying different videos. I discovered WATP not too long ago, and I expected it to be lame and easy but it's actually been amazing. I work hard and sweat a lot which just seems bizarre for walking when I'm a runner.

Today I'm planning to try a couple of different ones to see what other spice I can add to my at-home routine!

I workout in my home or outside all the time. Like others on here I really don't feel
comfortable in a gym.

I also work out at home. I just recently cancelled my gym member. I find home videos to work best for me, they dont take as long and they are more enjoyable then using a machine.
Right now I am doing Focus T25.

I have several Leslie Sansone DVD's. I use different combinations of boosters every day to avoid having my muscles get to used to the workouts.

I've been using Leslie Sansone videos on Youtube. In the past, I did like taking fitness classes or working out with weights in gyms, but, I don't think I'm physically able (or mentally ready) to go to a gym yet. My fitness goal is to continue working on strength and endurance at home (or outside) and then join a gym later. I also like jessicasmithtv videos because you can do them at home with minimal floor space.

I exercise at home and outdoors and enjoy it more than going to a fitness gym to get fit. I've been to a few fitness gyms in my early to mid 20's. My home and outdoor workouts... I saw better results than I ever did at a gym. Also, I've built up a pretty good library of workout Dvd and VHS videos to choose from.

I've never even been in a gym other than in school. I do all of my workouts either in the comfort of my home or running outside. I have a lot of issues and working out in a group isn't something I'm super comfortable with. I like being in my house with no one staring at me (judging me). I've had a lot of success with home based workouts and after an 11 mth hiatus due to neck surgery, I'm getting ready to start back and lose this weight I regained!

Best of luck!

I have had a gym membership for about the past 4 years, but I use it typically 6 days a week. I most recently put that on hold since I have started using Jillian Michaels 30DS, P90X, Rebounder, bands, and free weights. These have been giving me a decent workout at home.

I do find at home I miss more workouts. It's easy for me to get distracted and not workout. When I go to the gym daily I am more focused and get a good workout in and get up at 415am to hit the gym by 5am. Now I seem to be more of a slacker and sometimes not getting up until after 7am.

Both are good and have upsides and downsides!

Cheers,

FitGlamGirl

I work out at home as well. I cannot afford going to the gym, and I feel too self-conscious at them anyways. I usually do workout videos, but sometimes will "borrow" a relative's gym equipment (elliptical, bike, rebounder).

The hours I keep are not condusicve (sp?) to joining a gym. I work out at home. We have a commercial grade treadmill and a cheap Big 5 Stepper (but it works).

I also have hand weights in 2# * 5 * and 10#

That being said, by the end of a 12-14 hour day, when I get home I am exercising by doing laundry, preparing meals, and cleaning house ---- and my motivation to actually use my equipment has diminished somewhat.

Yes, I have a small gym in a special room with windows facing our pretty blue swimming pool that I love this time of the year. I have a TV and also a CD for Music and workout videos. We have a treadmill, a total gym, re-combant bicycle, stepper machine, and a weight machine, also a sauna. What it doesn't have, is someone out there to keep me motivated. One thing that a gym has, is seeing others, as they work out, which encourages a person every time that you go. Since the main reason is to get yourself in shape. It is hard for me to get started each day, as so many things pop into my day, to use up my time that I have set aside just for myself. I know it is important to keep in shape, and our bodies start falling apart unless we do it on our own schedules. If we stop even for one day, before we know it, several days have gone by. Everyone knows we can't let just one day go by, without getting out there and sticking to our schedule. I miss not having someone to say, "lets get at it girl". It is much easier if I use the Music to move with. When walking on the treadmill I continually watch the counter, I have found if I cover the counter, and just go for it, the time goes by faster, an I am finished, before I know it. emoticon emoticon Good Luck to you all Keeping at it.

I work out at home.

I have all my fitness equipment in the garage ( elliptical, rower, weights, recumbent bike ).

I like using my own things, having access 24/7, no further financial commitments and commutes to the gym.

I have my boombox out there as well, so I choose my own music as well.

I always worked out at home mostly the tread mill. But, two weeks ago I went back to work seeing its getting warmer outside ( work at a greenhouse/landscape business). The first day back I did 16 miles and over 36,000 steps. I have to admit I dragged myself home but felt so good about myself. I love working there so that helps alot. I have a FitBit so it keeps track of all my activities and how hard I,m working. It just seems that when others see my exercise time they may think I.m cheating but thats what my FitBit logs.

I've tried both - at home and at gym. Sometimes home is better, because like someone said; you can do it anytime whenever you feel like it. But it's just so easy to get sidetracked at home that the gym is a more focused place for exercise - no distractions. So, I think both are good places, but I get a better workout at the gym simply because that is why you are there, no laundry, cleaning, cooking, books to read, or whatever waiting just a few feet away.

Keep on Truckin'

For now I work out completely at home and outside. I go for runs 4-5 days a week and use DVDs and zumba on my Xbox kinect as well. I'm not against the gym I just don't like using it so I don't have a membership anymore. I like being able to work out whenever I want and as a stay at home mom I don't have a ton of time to schedule for the gym whereas I can workout at home during my sons nap or before my husband goes to work.

I get on my treadmill at home. My dog loves going on walks and since he is 110lbs and as tall as me that is a workout in itself haha. I also do various body weight exercises and some zumba on my wii. I do not like going to the gym especially since some of my friends have heard staff making fun of some of the people working out in the gym. Ridiculous but just further makes me not like gyms. Figure I can burn the calories with out the judgment.

I like working out at home, because I don't need to plan on it I can just do it when I have the time. If I go to the gym which is 45 minutes away I'm wasting time. When I do my flights of stairs I actually do things in between. Like this morning I would do three filghts of stairs and put some dishes away then I repeated until dishes were put away, and I do this until I have my 40 flights in. When I do it this way some of my housework is done. If I went to the gym I still would have to clean up my house when I get home.

I'm not comfortable in a gym setting either, although I think I'd like aerobic or Zumba classes at the gym -- but I've never tried those yet. I've lost 40 pounds so far with Zumba 2 on the Wii, along with various handweight exercises and multiple DVD workouts, including Walk Away the Pounds, Biggest Loser Cardio Max, Biggest Loser The Workout Cardio & Bootcamp, SparkPeople Coach Nicole Total Body Sculpt, Zumba DVD system, and Turbo Jam.

Yep. Workout videos and wii fit are my friends. I can't really afford a gym membership nor do I usually really have big chunks of time. I like things I can do in between other bits of life.

I have a lot of exercise equipment at home that I have accumulated over the years. I probably could open up my own gym. LOL My problem is I have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, so I do not do a lot. I mainly use my treadmill the most, and my circle glider for the strength training. I hope to gradually add more equipment, so that it doesn't get boring. I have a problem with doing anything in front of others, even my husband.
I hate the outdoors so I stay in the house unless I absolutely have to go out.

i workout outside, in my home, at work, in the woods on trails. i won't pay for a gym membership because i know i won't go and i really don't want to waste $ on that when there are SO many other options at no charge or very little. I also am lucky to have access to multiple public library locations where i can get videos to borrow.

I work out at home. I live in a very small town. (No gym) I go for walks when it is nice. I have a Leslie Sansone DVD. Most of my excersises are Push-ups - wall and modified, and others that I need minimal tools. I also dance alot. My daughters have me picking out music on grooveshark. I pick the songs and artists. It's like having a stack of DVD's to listen to.

Home!

Mostly cause I'm a broke ass uni student and also I have grown tired of getting hit on in the gym by creepy guys.

But working out at home really rocks! People underestimate the power and the sheer awesomeness of fitness DVDs.

I am a work in progress.

I work out at home, typically I use my elliptical, work out videos- if I don't have some, I get a lot on Demand through my cable network off of exercise tv- plus that helps me try them before buying them. Today I did Jillian Michaels new 6pack in 6 week video off there- wow that was hard:) but at least I know its good, not that I think she has a bad one out there, but it was nice to try before buying, since we don't get that option too often in life:)

I also try to do squats, lunges, sit ups, push-ups, etc.

I subscribe to several fitness related magazines such as Oxygen, Womens Health, and Fitness and get ideas out of there. I have a filing cabinet with old magazine articles that I can choose from also.

Plus I have Womens Health Book and Tara Stiles Yoga book and workout video.

There are many options that you can do without a gym, I find that yoga and pilates are very useful in my strength training.

I am still a work in progress but that is what I am doing so far.

I love working out at home. I do my walking DVD's & the Wii Fit +, Wii Personal trainer & Richard Simmons "sweatin to the oldies". Been off track though in motivation for the last 2 months so need to start my routine of 3 times a week exercising. Have alot of weight to lose & being older doesn't help any.

Do it girl, you should see what my bellydancing tapes turned into, after awhile I got good at it, and even made a bellydancing scarf to wrap around my hips, (complete with beads & mini bells that made shimmy sounds when I shook my hips) I wore it with a black leotard and felt beautiful and sexy doing it, when I got to goal wt I took a pic and sent hubs a pic in my bellydancing outfit for a surprise. He loved it, he was in Irac at the time. My kids must of thought I was silly when they were in their beds hearing me shimmy! They were actually really proud! Do it! get that tape, you will get better with pracice!

Bellydancing sounds like so much fun! I heard Zumba is also a great workout, but haven't tried it either. I'm not very graceful so the choreographed DVDs/classes intimidate me a bit. But I figure if no one is watching me with my moves, I can try it.

Miss Choc.. I almost always wake up and hit the tennis courts but have a commitment if it's raining or one of my games gets canceled,, etc. that I will move my booty at least 30 min a day. That's when working out at home comes in. I find an ex tape is a great way to go. Or go to a walk to the beach. either way I am moving everyday.

One thing I tried a few yrs ago, (I got to goal wt doing this) was I went to walmart and got everytype of ex tape and tried them all, to find my fav ex. Well it was bellydancing. I vowed to put a tape in everynight at 8pm!(literally) if I hadn't ex that day. It works i shimmied my way into a sexy size 7! To bad I quit doing it and gained about 1/2 back. Kudos to yu for working out at home. I find it can be nice to have your own wkout time alone.

I canceled my gym membership a couple months ago. It was just getting too expensive! But I've been working out from home with my DVDs, exercise mat and dumbells just fine. I feel like I get personal instruction at home from the workout DVDs and I love how no one bothers me while I'm exercising. It is harder to be motivated, however, and I always have to remind myself to finish the DVD! I also have a heart rate monitor to keep myself motivated to burn more calories. If I see that I burned 480 calories, I do an extra 15-20 mins to burn an extra 20, to get to an even 500. I can't live without it!!

I have gone from 174 (April 2010) to 140.5 (October 1 2010) without stepping foot in a gym. I do Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper DVDs faithfully, get enough sleep, drink my SP recommended water or more, and log/meet my SP food goals. I use DVDs, a step, 5/8/10 pound dumbbells and a mat. I have other exercise gear and equipment but rarely use the other things.

My sister and I workout at home. At her house, we have resistance bands, a variety of weights, a bunch of DVDs, and yoga mats. At my house, we have a bunch of equipment such as a treadmill and elliptical. Between the two of us, we have no reason to go to a gym.

I only work out at home or outside. When I first started to lose weight I didn't want my big body at a gym and have everyone watch me. Now that I am down I still don't like people to watch me. I have a treadmill and use DVD's. Now that it is nicer out, I am walking/jogging alot more outside than doing DVDS

I combine the two. I usually do my workouts at home, which consisted of walking and riding my stationary bike - but that just wasn't getting it. My treadmill broke on me, and the only other equipment I have are 3lb dumbbells. SO, I began going to a gym last week and now I just do a combo of the two throughout the week!

I do a combo - some days it's cardio & weight machines at the gym, and other days I walk & do an exercise DVD at home (like 30 Day Shred).

I also walk aoun the neighborhood, around big box stores, from far ends of parking lots to stores and I go to the gym at least 2-3x weekly.

I don't go to a gym because I can't afford it. I walk mostly...around my neighborhood, during my lunch break at work, at the park with a friend. I also use workout dvd's. My favorite one is Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home. I've recently found someone to play tennis with, so I'm hoping to start that soon.

I love working out at home. I tried belly dancing this morning. I got a tape from the library and had a lot of fun. I would never try that in front of other people, which is one of the reasons I work out at home.

We have one of those big home gym/smith machine things, a bunch of dumbbells, a treadmill, a total gym, bikes, DVDs, running shoes, lol... so, yeah, I work out at home. I'm a SAHM, and I'd love a YMCA membership (free childcare while you work out), but I can't justify the expense, no matter how small, when we have all this stuff at home.

I have a 7 year old and a six year old so I workout at home. I used to go to the gym, but it became inconvenient. I rely on walking and videos. I just joined the C25K and finished one of the workouts and am looking foward to more.

My body is getting stronger, slimmer, and healthier everyday!

I tried the gym but it was $$$ and the time to get there, park, etc., as well as I was a bit intimidated, machines weren't always available, etc. I walk outside or treadmill on rainy days. My new favorite is Wii Fit but I change it up. I have resistance bands, ball, hand weights, kettle ball. I uses DVDs. You'd think with all that, I'd be in fabulous shape but you still have to make yourself do it! And now I finally am! emoticon

I've been working out at home since the beginning of the year and I finished C25K program on the treadmill at home. I work out at home by walking near home and exercising with dvds and tapes. The last time I worked out at a fitness center, I picked up a respiratory infection that had me in bed for days...traced it back to using the elliptical, didn't even think to disinfect the handles but since then I've heard many cases of catching illnesses from shared equipment, so I'm a little wiser.
Most of the weight I've lost has been from walking and exercising at home, I really enjoy it.

I work out at home using different DVDs and I also have a treadmill. However I do have a gym membership but, do not use it all that often. I find it much easier to workout at home when I first wake up in the morning. That way there are no excuses later in the day. If I get to the gym then its just a bonus on top of what I have already done.
