So my training sessions are over. My measurements/fitness tests at the end were good and not so good. My weight was the same, but I have lost 1 inch in my waist. My strength though has improved alot. And I've lost 3% body fat. The most important thing though is that I know more what I'm capable of. Which means if I'm wimping out, I know it. So as long as I keep in my new gym habits of 3-4 times per week and continue to work on my diet, more progress should be made. I feel pretty good about it, all told. Now just to keep it up going forward...

Thank you, JENKARMELY! I don't think of myself as particularly inspiring, but am proud that I'm investing in myself. I have been working out more than I have in a long time - probably 4 times a week. The built in accountability of twice a week training sessions definitely helps! Plus I work alot harder than on my own. I feel that I'm building new habits that I WILL continue when the training is over.

I had a weigh in and measurements today, which haven't really changed. Oddly enough it motivates me to push a little harder, exercise a little more, be a little more strict with my diet. Because dammit, I'm working really hard, I'm sore, and it would be stupid for that to not result in looser pants!! A friend at work and I have exchanged some small goals and are going to share food journals once a week. We complain together enough, we decided we could be more positive and add some accountability! No more cookies!! (They are baked fresh daily where we work.)

Two more weeks to 35...

So I had my 3rd full training session tonight and man, do I feel like a limp noodle! Oh to be able to afford that all the time. But hey, I definitely feel like I'll have made some progress on the exercise side of things by the end of our 12 sessions. Now I just need to focus more on the diet side...

It's September 1, I turn 35 this month, I'm pushing 200, I've had some medical problems whether weight related or not I don't know. So it's time. Time to put my health first, time to make the "hard" decisions on a day to day basis, eat well, live moderately, be active. Here we go...

So I've had a couple of training sessions now. Let me just say that my thighs are sore! It's so nice to just follow someone around the gym, let them set up the machines, choose the weight, make the plan, and provide the outside motivation. Oh to be able to have a trainer year round! But I guess intrinsic motivation has to kick in sometime...

Wow, that sounds like a great program at your gym. Sometimes a little kick start goes a long way.

I have a gym in the lobby of my apartment building, so I usually try to go before work. It is so convenient to just run upstairs and shower after my workout and be ready to start my day. Now if I could just master getting up at 5:15am, that's the hard part.

Thanks, you guys! First session was today - just the "before" fit tests, fat roll pincher, and muscle/fat analysis. Not very pleasant stuff, but I'm excited to see the "after"! I'm ready to work hard and develop some new and better habits...

Excellent! It's become our home away from home and it will for you too. I'm 34 myself and you are inspiring me to keep going before I hit 35. Time goes by so fast.

We're real! Whether you start a little at a time or submerge yourself in a program, the important thing is to start and to commit. Every day you do something to get closer to your goals is a productive day. So, give it your all because the rewards are well-worth the effort...

Good for you. It's nice to hear something motivating from a real live person. I know people on SP are real, but when it's someone in a group that you have joined, it seems more personal. I wish I had your ambition right about now. But, I'm starting over slowly, exercising at least 15 mins everyday and trackng my calories. I'm usually under on my calories or within range, so I'm still losing weight but it's not coming off as fast as it was before. It's great to hear your news. I wish you luck with your pt. emoticon

So hubby and I went to renew our gym membership the other day. Haven't used it nearly enough over the last year, but we can only go from here.

Back story - a year ago I had all these grand plans for what I was going to do health/weight-wise by my 35th birthday. Now here I am a month out (9/18) and haven't done Jack.

So sitting there at the gym, I picked up the flyer on personal training. Well imagine that, they have a 30 Day Makeover with pre- and post- health/measurement screenings and 10 training sessions. So I've signed up - start Monday, 8/18.

I'd pretty much decided I'd blown the year, but now I am going to DO SOMETHING by my 35th! Maybe even develop some new habits that will stick with me. I'm motivated and proud of myself. It's easy to get hung up on fear of failure and why waste the money type attitudes.

But I'm viewing it as...well, not a new start, because I'm trying to get away from my "blank slate" mentality of starting over every Monday, 1st of month, Jan. 1 - it's an on-going process. But it is the 1st day of the rest of my life - every day is. So I'm going to make the most of this opportunity to have some extra accountability for a month and also an extra kick in the pants.

They say it takes 21 days to develop a new habit...here goes!
