I used to have that problem a lot for awhile until I started to losing weight. Rubbed holes in my jeans, know all about it. Try Lanacane. It is anti-chafing cream. I got a free sample I think from their website awhile ago, I just looked and couldn't find a link, but any anti-chafing cream/gel would probably be about the same. I used it and it seemed that it worked a bit not 100% but I'd say at least 75%. Defiantly cut down on the rash you get. Good luck, I understand the irritation!

This has always been a problem for me. I'm hoping that one day I'll get to the point where I can wear a dress or skirt without having to wear a long pant-like undergarment to keep my thighs from rubbing together. If I ever get thin, toned thighs I will be TOO excited !

I CAN do this ONE day at a time.

FOr as long as I can remember my thighs have touched and rubbed against each other. I almost always wear pants so I don't get sores or anything, but I have rubbed holes right through some jeans!

Uhuh, yes but fortunately not as bad as last time when I got frequent reddness from the annoying thighs rub. Now, maybe just few times on bad days, hehe. Maybe if we keep our thighs more moisture, it will help - at least, that what my mom keep telling me and I'm too lazy!

For my entire adult life my thighs have always touched, even when I was at my lowest weight in college (unhealthily low, but unintentional - super stressed all the time due to some terrible events). So, not a realistic goal for me, and I'm okay with that. ;)

This has got to be one of the most annoying things about exercising. I think it has something to do with plain old body shape, size and mechanics. I haven't found anything yet to stop the aggravation!

I am seriously thinking of trying callanetics again. they have a realy good exercise for the inbetween the thighs. I know theres this one exercise for the hips and booty, yeah it made my booty round and really cut some stuff off my hips. and even after I quit doing the exercises, it stayed that way for a really good time. maybe its time to go back.

Yes! It's very annoying. I even tried to rub deotorant on them and that works sometimes. I'm trying the hip abductors at the gym even though it's a little uncomfortable to do in public.

Seems I'm in good company. emoticon

When I was much heavier, my thighs rubbed so much that I would get painful chafing if I wore a dress or shorter shorts w/o some kind of tights or long bike shorts under. I rarely wore shorts at all b/c they would ride up when my thighs rubbed and it felt and looked so unattractive to me. I only wore capris or bermudas.

Now that I've lost weight the thigh rubbing thing is minimal. I would say that they still touch a little bit. I think I would have to lose an unhealthy amount of weight for there to be no contact at all between my thighs. But at this weight, I no longer get rashes or chafing and I can wear any shorts I want to w/o them riding up or bunching at the crotch.

So it does get better. But even thin women may still have some thigh rubbing, depending on their particular body shape.

Mine have rubbed for as long as I can remember, though of course it isn't as bad when I weigh less. When I wear skirts I always wear pettipants or spandex shorts so I won't get sores on my thighs.

Yes, they do! I hate it. I know that I'm going to have to fall below 120 to make it stop because that is what I weighed in HS and they rubbed then. Probably due more to the fact that I'm 'pigeon-toed and knock-kneed' than the weight, but we can always hope. Lisa

Must be because our inner thigh muscles are the most infrequently used muscle. I have noticed any time after I squeeze a stability ball, or any time I do an exercise that makes my legs shake it is a sign those muscles are weak and need the most work. Good news is that inner thighs do get tighter after wards.

Mine used to rub together, in fact when I started my walking routine at work with a buddy, wearing a dress was torture unless I wore shorts underneath.

Now, almost 2 years later and down close to goal weight, they don't rub together! Keep up the healthy habits and you'll get there, too!

OMG...can you imagine what it would be like to have space between your thighs? AWE(wait for it)SOME! It's something I've always wanted! Even when I was a tiny little size 4 (many, MANY years ago) my thighs touched. I think it's just my body type. emoticon But, I'm still going to try for it - you know what they say about shooting for the moon...

my thighs have always rubbed against each other and i actually have a solution one i avoid wearing under wear except once a month. it helps there. next swing your hips while you walk. now at first this going to seem dorky or funny but when done right you should get some hip action but you will notice that unless its a meet in the middle problem your legs should be seperated so theres no rubbing so one leg forward one hip goes back ward. Its helped me. now i get thighs rubbing in another place and that solved by lotion and cortizone creams.

Mine used to rub all the time. I thought that they would never stop rubbing together. I had to buy bicycle shorts to wear under skirts, and always wore holes in my pants in that spot.

But I just realized that they don't rub anymore! I am not super skinny (5 foot 1 and 136 pounds) but I do work out with weights and I have lost a lot of inches off my thighs in the past few months.

So I think it is possible to be short and not have the thighs rub.

i think thighs rubbing is more of a consequence of body type than excess weight. sure you could become skeletal and then your thighs wouldn't touch but for most people who are thin and healthy, their thighs still touch!!

My thighs have always rubbed. I don't think losing weight will help, since my legs are scrawny (though muscular) compared to the rest of my body.

I always thought I was the only one! I have small hips and giant thighs, so mine rub so bad that I wear holes in my pants there. I can wear bike shorts, but looser shorts always ride up and I get a rash there every summer. I don't even wear skirts and dresses anymore, mostly because of the rubbing. I think back to when I was thinner and I think they always rubbed somewhat. But now they rub all the way down my thigh! I saw a picture of myself as a child with a bathing suit on and my thighs were pretty big even then, and I wasn't fat. It's a genetic curse I guess.

Several things have helped me come to peace with my "thunder thighs" (my brother's nick name for me as a kid). 1. Genetics - both my parents also have larger thighs. 2. When I was too thin in college and running lots my thighs still touched.
Is this really worth all the emotional energy and angst and self put down that we do to ourselves year after year? I don't think so. If you are fit and healthy, come to accept that this is how you were made and it is good! We women are so hard on ourselves.

Okay so some people can loose enough fat to make this possible. Although when I was at my skinniest at 16 and weighed 125, and had about 16% body fat my thighs touched and had a little tiny tummy (although I didn't think it was little then). Later I read this book about body fat percentage, he talked about how many women get stuck on this one. How many female gymnasts who have around 13% body fat have thighs that touch, and some have a tiny little belly.

So my thighs touch, they have since I was 11. I'm going to try to be the healtiest version of myself I can be. If that includes thighs that don't touch awesome, if not then I'm gonna be pleased with how far I've come and all the awesome stuff my body can do. Like crazy flexibility! emoticon

I call it the "Chub Rub" and I've always had it (because I've always been chubby...well after puberty). In fact i remember when I was 14 and I was on colorguard, I was walking in a parade and my thighd had been rubbing together. So later in the car I looked at my thighs..and they were bleeding from the friction :( Ugh...

Wow - I just thought it was me. I have to wear a pant slip when I try to wear skirts and dresses (which I don't really do anymore). Mine would rub so bad that I would get blisters. I hope that someday they will go away with the weight loss. But, even at my lowest weight after kids (176) they still cuased friction.

Mine do too! So badly it hurts sometimes. I've taken to working out in yoga pants so the shorts don't ride up and I don't get "chub rub".

Also, I can't remember the last time I didn't wear a skirt or dress without Spanx on so it didn't hurt. It's pathetic. I'm hoping with joining Sparks and more working out hat this will get better.

Anyhow, it's one of my goals too. I'm sick of shorts riding up and creating a buldge in the zipper area because my thigh fat hikes it up there. Geesh.

Mine rub together also. I can't really remember when I first noticed it, but I really notice it when I get out of the shower, and walk over to where my clothes are, or when I have a swim suit on. I hate it. I have started doing some of Coach Nicole's exercises, so hopefully they will reduce.

I'm the same way...its always been a big reason i never wore dresses often. I would definitely say being short doesn't make this easier...lot less area for our wonderful fat to go.

so heres the thing.. you can do area targeting exersizes but that doesn't guarantee that you will lose weight in the specific area.. it does however tone and build muscle in that area.. everyone gains and loses weight differently , for me the thighs are the last to lose it and the first to gain it. all you can do is get down to your ideal weight and hope that includes the weight off your thighs everyones bodies are built differntly too, you just may have a body type that no matter what you do they will always touch.. try to feel good with the body you were given and you thighs may touch but taht doesn't mean you don't have fantastic legs :)

Try "Banish Fat Boost Metabolism" and "No More Trouble Zones" by Jillian Michaels. They are awesome for toning up your body. My thighs are my worst feature and they are getting so sleek and sexy now!!!

I just realized the other day that my thighs don't rub anymore when I am standing up/walking! When I sit they still touch but other than that its wonderful! So it is possible to be a shortie and not have them touch - I am only 5ft and Have not reached the "ideal weight" of 100 lbs yet and they already don't touch :)

This is kind of related. I find that at my height, it's difficult to cross one knee over the other in a ladylike manner, no matter how heavy I am. I think it's just because my legs are so short that they don't quite make a right angle with one foot on the floor, so the other leg just slips right off easily.

Anyone else notice this, or is it just me??

CT have you tried running? I know cycling, ST and certain sports can cause the upper legs to build more...running builds lower legs and thins out upper legs. I use to play soccer and the stop start gave me very muscular quads and hamstrings, I had some rub...I now run and my upper legs while still carrying a lot of fat rub a lot less!

I'm 5'1" and the thigh rub annoys me too! Especially because I carry most my weight in my thighs and butt. When I was 119 and really muscular I still had some rub and NO boobs at all!

I don't want to get that low again, so I'm just concentrating on making the rub as minimal as possible and taking it pound by pound and bf% by bf%.

The thighs rubbing should get smaller but they may still tough when standing with your legs together. I remember seeing Kathy Lee Griffith on Oprah talking about all the surgery she's had but her thighs still touched and it really bothered her. Maybe some people are just more inclined to carry weight in that area. We are women remember. Fat is stored in the hips and thighs.

I'd love for my thighs not to rub too! I hate when I wear a skirt and get a friction burn if I am walking for long periods of time. I often would wear Spanx to prevent the irritation.

But I think even when I was an athlete growing up my thighs touched because my legs get so muscular, like a gymnast. I have always wanted long and lean legs! I guess I can aspire to lean but they will never be long. :)

Hiya emoticon

Yes, my thighs rub too but as i lose weight i can see the gap getting bigger.

So i have hope that one day they will be less chunky at the tops.

They should still be able to fix it with surgery though just by cutting the inner thigh off and stitching it back together again - depends how desparate you are emoticon

Plus you can get special pull up pants which work well...

All the best!

Ok, this may be a de-motivator, but even when I was at 110, solid muscle, my inner thighs rubbed. This is even after some years of KungFu - with doing tons of squats, lunges and side lunges in our Katas. Ive a chunk of cellulite on each inner thigh and permanent indentations on each outer thigh from the years of sitting cross legged in a corner as a child. Ive seen dietitians, fitness instructors and all were baffled. It wasnt until I saw a plastic surgeon friend of mine who said that frankly the tissue had 'set' and he didnt even think surgery would ever really do a good job of getting rid of it. So, here I am, feeling like I may only get to wear skirts/dresses for minimal lengths of time since the fat rub ends up sweating little rivulets down my legs...ugh!

We'll be best friends until we're old and senile, then we'll be NEW freinds!

I would say all my extra weight is in my thighs. Always have been. Pants never fit me becuase of it. So here I am ready to work at it. I know I will never be happy with my legs (short and stocky), but I know they could become a few inches thinner.

Mine still touch a little. Only at the very top and when I lose that last 12 lbs or so I bet they won't anymore. They used to be so much heavier but all the walking I've been doing and now the strength exercises I can see the difference. Keep up the good work, we can do this!!!!

I had this as a goal when I was losing weight but kind of forgot about it and then one day I was looking in the mirror and realized my thighs don't touch anymore!!! I had to lose a lot of weight to do this because I carried most of my weight in my legs. It is possible!! I have found a love for running and am training for my 1st 1/2 marathon now. This is what helped me. I also do squats and lunges. Good luck everyone!!

Yeah, mine do. I can really tell and see a difference in my body. I can really tell that I have lost some inches, so I know that my thighs touching will be getting less and less.

I have the same problem, but slowly it is getting better. When I first started working out, my thighs touched all the way down the inner thigh. Now after running and working out (I also do lunges and side steps and the thigh workout videos from coach Nicole) my thighs still touch, but it is a lot less, so I know I'm making progress. It's just a matter of patience and consistency.

As your weight drops, and it's best to do this gradually, so does the body fat levels all over the body. Running, as mentioned, is a fantastic exercise, not only for burning fat but for sculpting and strengthening the leg muscles. Lower body strength training is very important, too, as squats and lunges do incredible things for the legs - and the glutes.

This is an exercise I have been doing that helps tone up your inner thighs.
Get a child's inflated ball medium size, kind of firm, not too easily compressed.
Sit on a chair, closer to the edge of it, with your feet in front of you. Make sure the chair is not too high or too low. You want your knees to be going straight out from your hips. Put your feet on the floor.
Place the ball in between your knees, sit up straight and squeeze the ball between your knees.
I try to do about 200 of these every day. It does help work the inner thigh.

OK., I am working on this too. There is a machine at my gym that works that area but you can also use a step bench, with 2 steps (or something about 6 inches high and (here is were it's silly but worth it) lay with the majority of your back on it and your lower back, tail bone and legs off and then bring your bottom (and inner thighs) towards the floor and then back up. You can hold weights right over the hip bone to intensify it. Another exercise is to lay on one side and then bring the leg that is on the floor towards the ceiling (the top leg can be kept out of the way by forming a tepee shape with the knee as the top) with the heel leading, then flip over and do the other side. Good luck! I worked that area two days in a row and am taking tonight off before torturing them again with the bottom crunches. Here's hopeing the jiggle goes for both of us soon.

One of my goals is to not have my thighs touch. I am 5'2 and have lost 16 pounds. Still my thighs touch. UGGGG. I can't stand it. I see these ladies and when they wear work out/yoga pants thier thighs don't touch.
How much weight do I have to loose to have them not touch?
I know you can't answer that but could you inspire me with the moment you realized your thighs don't touch. I need motivation! I need non-touching thighs!
I bet if I lost 10 more pounds my thighs wouldn't touch. Ok I'm rambling!
