I knew I wasn't the only one struggling with this, but I didn't realize others had the same attitude I do. Thank you all for your advice and help. I feel better already. I know I'm doing the right thing by not drinking sodas and high sugary drinks, all I drink is water, just not 8 glasses a day. Now I can relax and just drink when I need it and not force all that water down.

It's not what you have, it's what you do with it that counts.

Have to agree with Vivian. I have totally changed my lifestyle over the past year, but I cannot bring myself to drink 64 ounces of water a day. To me, that means my body doesn't want or need it and I can't see forcing myself.

I agree.... When I was in an exercise boot camp, the instructor kept getting on me about my water intake because I never got to that 8 glasses. But after about 6 glasses, my stomach felt so full and I felt like I was sloshing around. I felt really uncomfortable. I think 6 glasses is my max, but I feel really good at 4 or 5... Probably because of the water I'm getting from other sources. Guess I won't obsess quite so much about it, just listen to my body.

There you go - if you consume a lot of fruits and vegetables and drink some water, you're probably fine. This is one of those things that's been overly hyped. What's more, I think those of us who are petite probably need less water. I could be wrong but it makes sense to me...

Really? So maybe 8 glasses is just not what I need? I eat a lot of fruit and green veggies. Sometimes when I get up in the morning I'm thirsty, but not all day long. Wow, I never thought about the other water I was getting.

Part of the water your body needs comes not only from drinking but from consuming fruits and vegetables and from other beverages and foods. Unless you're actually really "dehydrating" I would not be too worried. I have a hard time reaching the eight glass recommendation and there have been several reports on the news lately that contradict that recommendation. I listen to my body, drink when I'm thirsty and carry water when I run.

Thank you, I have seen those at Walmart, but I figured at the rate I drink the water, it would be warm long before I got it empty. But maybe that would be an incentive to drink it sooner rather than later. I know they're pretty cheap. I will have to pick one up. Thanks

try this it works for me: go to Meijer or WalMart and get a 64 oz water bottle with handle and pull drinking top. (some come with a straw and a rollover cover to close the straw).

fill it at night before you go to bed and put in the fridge. take it out in the morning and drink it all day until gone. When it is empty you have done your 8 glasses for the day. So simple. If you like your water colder put it in the freezer overnight and drink as it thaws.

I love my water. Drink a lot of it. I have a small jug that holds 8 glasses. I fill it up at least 2 times a day. It goes everywhere with me. I take it to work filled up. I also have water all over the huse, in my car adn at work. Just make it a daily ritual to pack your water when you get your stuff ready for work. Some of the flavors I love and others I really do not like either. To each his own I guess.

Thanks for the advice... I am going to print out your message and put it on my fridge, my nightstand, my car, my desk, anywhere I should have a bottle of water and strive to have a bottle next to it.

Exercise isn't a problem for me, but just because I feel so good after I run and even better when I see myself in those tight pants I couldn't get into before. I didn't use to think of running like this, I hated it, but it gets easier. And when you see the progress, you want it more and more. My morning routine isn't complete without at least a 30 minute run.

If crystal light isn't your thing - try the other brands and try LOTS of flavors. I like some and totally dislike others.

Propel - try it. Might be your solution.

Water - buy a case and take it to work. Keep several bottles in the car. The more you see the bottles - the better off you are in actually drinking it. Keep one next to your couch - keep another by your bed. Take an 1/2 hour to get ready in the morning - drink a bottle during the morning process.

I have figured out that I need to get a bottle in my by a certain time during the day. My 8am - I need 1 bottle in me - by the time I go to lunch - another bottle. During lunch - I drink water... By 2pm - another bottle. During dinner - I drink a diet coke or water. Before 11pm - I need to have another bottle in me. IF I dont get all my water in by a certain time - that next time period I have to have my makeup and the normal amount.

You can do this. I no longer STRUGGLE to get my water in. It's just a part of my life. Now if I could just get my exercise so disciplined I would be THIN. emoticon

I have tried crystal light, and I can't drink it. The after taste is not appealing to me. I work full time, but sometimes I work from home. There is no water available at the office (no water cooler) and the tap water is not drinkable. I don't remember to buy a bottle of water, and anyway, one bottle is obviously not going to cut it for the day. Sometimes I will refill a bottle at home, but then i forget to take it or something. I don't know what the answer is.

Do you work or are you a stay at home mom? I work FT office job. It is EASY for me to get my water at work - it is right there. At home it is a struggle as I dont stay still very long. Tell us a little about your life so we can make suggestions that would be practical.

I am now bringing water ALL the time. I figured out my water has to be EXTRA COLD for me to drink it. Not refrigerator cold - almost on the verge of freezing. If a bottle of water gets to warm - I get a new bottle and replace that one in the freezer.

The crystal light and propel flavored water are what I switch to when I need to "down" a bottle to get my fluids in fast or when I have been doing really good on my water as a treat.

I am having a really hard time with my water intake. I had a couple of days a few months ago when I actually drank 8 glasses of water, but for the most part I just can't do it. I don't drink anything but water, so I'm not intaking a lot of extra calories or sugar, but I just can't seem to drink anything often enough to get my 8 glasses. I am so frustrated, because I know I need it. I have always struggled with getting the right amount of fluids. I have never drank enough. Can anyone give me some advice on how to make it easier to consume the recommended amount of water?
