That is my favorite part now... My youngest is 8 years old and the kids love to go with me, whether running or biking (which they prefer). I love having the company and it's great family time. Can't think of anything that's better than the whole family exercising together. It helps drive me.

It's not what you have, it's what you do with it that counts.

Good to hear it! I just dropped my old/new bike off for repairs last week. I bought it 12 years ago but have hardly ridden it at all. After sitting in my garage under the kids bikes and golf clubs all these years, it needed a little TLC. My kids are getting old enough now that we could all ride together. If I remember how... emoticon

Need to find a place with some hills ans that will rev up the heart rate. Just going for a longer distance or join a local bike club can help. Did for me...you get a breeze on a bike!

Maybe I need to go farther. My son loves to ride the bike and wants me to ride with him instead of going for a run, but I don't feel that I get as much out of a bike ride as I do out of my 2 mile run. I am being a little stubborn about it, because running gets my heart rate up and pours the sweat out of my system. I just don't get the same affect when I ride the bike. Should I just make the bike ride longer? We went for 4 miles and I didn't feel much except in my legs. While, that is an area that needs work, I want the added cardio as well.

It's not what you have, it's what you do with it that counts.

I'm glad to have read this! I invested in a bike last year but only got on it once. I just bought a pump to fill the tires, so now I can get out and have fun! Thanks for the motivation, everyone!

I love my stationary bike, but recently bought a bike to ride with my kids. I will go today.

Vivian, you changed your name, how did you do that? You're right!! Weight lifting is great. I can't lift much for now, but I am keeping track to progress.

I used my stationary bike today but added the movable handles. Not only was it a good workout for my legs but I could feel it in my arms and my stomache! Full body workout without having to switch machines.

I got my bike out last weekend. I live in the mountains, so I'm not ready for that yet. But 35 miles!!!! Way to go!!! Keep on pedalling.

Life is great!! Above all I love God & my family.

Have switched to long distance bike riding from long walks. It gets the heart rate up longer and great if you have a short bike that fits. It takes twice the pedaling to keep up with 6 ft husband. You get a breeze and can coast. We have done 2 rides in the country about 35 miles each. I do around the neighborhood on weekdays. Spinning at Bally's also.. Helps the depression also...
