I can not imagine what all of you without power are doing. The main thing is keeping warm and your food spoiling. I can live with candle light if I have to and even without the TV or my computer...But the heat!!! I am cold now with my heat on and a blanket wrapped around me at my computer. Hope it all gets back on soon!!!

Go to the mall or a rec center and walk. Walk around your home adn get some batteries for a radio and listen to tapes to motivate you. Clean out closets, pantry, and sweep. All good exercises.

I heard on the news that stuff like that was happening, I'm sorry u are going through it! Have u tried doing sit-ups and push-ups how about even marching in place, jumping jacks? I've read somewhere that jumping jacks are one of the best workouts we can do, that is if phycially able to do them! I hope things get better for u soon!

I see from your Sparkpage that you do a lot of cardio! No wonder you're missing it. Can you dance to something?

It's amazing how we take electricity for granted, isn't it? I'd be lost without it as well!

In addition to the great suggestions above, you could also use your laundry detergent (or any full gallon jug)as a weight/medicine ball and do lunges and such with it. Do you have a jump rope and a place indoors (basement or garage) where you could use it? Jumping jacks, wall pushups and squats. Back to basics :)

I do hope things calm down for you all soon. The scenes on the news were just amazing. I can't believe there are trees bent over from the heavy ice!

I feel for you. I am originally from Oklahoma, my parents are thankfully with power. I don't know what to tell you with the cardio, but you can use like cans of soup as little dumbells. do crunches and leg lifts, and sqats. most of the work outs I do I don't use any equipment. It just about keeping moving, get that heart rate up.

Oooh! Sorry to hear this. I wonder how people on elctrical life support are managing? Just thinking though, what is the solution for you? Do you have family or a close friend you can move in with till power comes back? I can't imagine living with no heat or hot water....exercise machine would be last and scale, least of my concerns. However, can you do body weight exericises, stepping on a raised platfrom or a set of staires if you have in your house, walking in place, etc.?

Hope you are blessed with lots of sunlight for now. Also that your power returns quickly! Take care!

Do you have stairs in your house? Run up and down them like crazy.

Clean out closets.

Lift bags of garbage for strength training.

I am sure that others will have some good ideas too. I was wondering when I was going to hear from people in this region. I am happy to hear that you are doing ok. Don't worry this too shall pass.

I have had NO Electricity for three days! Help

Any suggestions? I live in Oklahoma where we have had some major power outages. At home I have had no power for three days so none of my exercise equipment is working, can't do any video tapes and it's too icy to jog or walk outside. My eating has increased because of the stress and my scale is solar (light activated) emoticon

No weapon formed against me shall prosper.
