Here's something to try for sore muscles. Eat an orange right after your workout. I heard this is good for runners so I did it after my strength sessions last week and I was a lot less sore the next day!

I think I will go with 100 for the week since I am so out of shape... If I did 100 today I would be wiped out and sore as heck....


Last week I think I just squeaked by with the cardio..... A lot of it was housework, especially the vacuuming cuz I sweat like crazy when I vacuum....

Haven 100 Challenge for August 8th - 14th: Drop & give me 100...Push-ups that is.

They can be military style, on your knees, against a wall, whatever is comfortable for your fitness level. I will also let you decide if it is 100 total for the week, or if you want to do 100 each day. I will probably got with 100 through out the week on my knees.

As for last weeks challenge, I got a total of 67 minutes in. Normally 100 is not a problem for me, but with rain on Weds, I had to bike instead of run and I felt ill on Friday Morning & only managed 11 min. on the bike. I'm a little dissappointed, but that's life!

I have only done 10 min on the bike- I don't think that I may make the challenge goal, but I will make my own goal... I really let myself get out of shape.....

Okay Havenites - Here's your Haven 100 Challenge for the week of Mon. Aug. 1st - Sun. Aug. 7th....

100 Minutes of cardio.

Sounds like a lot I know, but break it up through out your week. 14.5 minutes per day or three days of 35 minutes, or one long power walk, it's all up to you how you do it, just do it.

Great idea Mel!

Since Haven is back! I will start posting the Haven 100 again on Sundays to challenge us through the week (My bad for missing the first couple weeks!)

In the mean time here's a quickie to finish out this week. Line up 100 minutes of music to workout to. You don't have to workout for 100 minutes, just have that much music so you can mix it up on your regular workout. You can post your play list if you like. You can listen to it when you're working out, cleaning, or if you just want to shake what your mama gave you in the livingroom!

That is an easy challenge for me Lucy!!! I have SF French Vanilla International Delight Creamer in my coffee - 2 tbsp is 40 cal... Otherwise I drink tea with Truvia and water or seltzer - all Zero Calories...

The Haven 100 is back!!!

This week's challenge is to keep your beverage calories to 100 or less per day!

Did you know that 8oz. of Pepsi is 100 calories? That's 1 cup. Think of all the beverages you can drink that are lower in calories & still yummy! 1 packet of Crystal light Pure is 30 calories and makes 2 cups, Unsweetened Tea is 0, add Sun Crystals it's 10 calories per packet compared to a 100 Calorie Small Sweet Tea at any fast food restaurant, that's quite a savings! Think smart, plan ahead & DON'T DRINK YOUR CALORIES!!!!

100 Calorie Snacks! Make your snacks 100 calories or under and no processed bagged ones. Try healthy produce, etc and tell us what you ate.

Here's what one of my favorites is: Carrots (35 Calories) and Hummus (40 Calories) for a grand total of 75 calories!

REASONS TO LOSE WEIGHT

1. cross my legs
2. have my clothes fit again

4. be able to walk up stairs without getting out of breath

I wanted to Post the Challenge for next week now, but remember to do your plank today!

The Haven 100 Challenge for the week of Jan 16 - 22, 2011 is...

Make a list of 100 reasons why you want to lose weight.

Sounds like a lot, but once you get going it's not. The list can include huge reasons like "I want more self-confidence" and small fun reasons like "I want to wear sexy undies". See I've just given you 2 already. You can post it here if you want, or just a few of your reasons, but make sure you get 100 reasons written down for yourself. I chose this for this week because Jan 17th is suppose to be the day that everyone has broken their resolutions and gone off track. I say let's prove them wrong!

Remember do some soul searching, but have fun with it too!

Hello Havenites! Time for your next Haven 100 Challenge! This week I'm going for a different exercise each day. Remember 100 reps per day and you can break them down into as many sets as you want throughout the day as long as you get 100 reps in!

Sunday - Squats
Monday - Push-ups (Wall, knees, military - whatever you're comfortable with)
Tuesday - Jumping Rope (100 jumps)
Wednesday - Tricep Dips (I like to do these on the side of the tub)
Thursday - Throwing Punches (Jabs, Cross, Hooks, upper cuts or a combo of all are fine)
Friday - Calf Raises (Stand on the floor or a step and raise up on your tippy toes)
Saturday - Plank for 100 seconds

There you have it! Now let's have a good week & don't forget to check in and tell us what you did!

It's a New Year which means new challenges!

Your challenge for the week of 1-2-11 to 1-8-11 is:

100 seconds of the dreaded PLANK!!!

You may break it down into increments and you may chose the position the works best for you as well. Toes and palms, toes & elbows, knees & palms or knees and elbows (which is kinda hard because I want to face plant!)

Okay guys this week (Nov. 15 - 21) I'm challenging you try something new...Tabata. Right about now you're probably thinking TAH-WHAT-AH?!?! So let me explain.

Tabata is a super-interval workout named after researcher Izumi Tabata of the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya, Japan.

Here's how it works: 20 seconds of high-intensity training + 10 seconds of rest x 8 = 4 sweaty heart pumping minutes. Ex: Sprint for 20 seconds, Stop for 10 do this a total of 8 times.

The results, you can burn up to 53 calories in 4 minutes and after 6 weeks, you can increase your lung capacity.

Since this is a new challenge I'm letting you pick the cardio you want to do to try it out. Running, jumping, throwing punches, jumping jacks or a combination of cardio. And if you're wondering how does this fit into the Haven 100? If you do it once in the morning and maybe repeat it later in the day, you could burn up to 100 calories.

Okay Havenites here's the schedule for the Haven 100 for Nov 1 - 7:

This week we're boxing!

Monday - Throwing Punches (Try to do this in 2 sets of 50 or 1 set of 100.) Squat down low and throw punches at a fixed point, TV screen, spot on the wall, etc.

Tuesday - Jump Rope

Wednesday - Fast Feet

Thursday - Punching Combination Jab (quick punch straight in front with right arm), Cross (Punch across your body from left to right) Upper Cut (with right hand act like punching someone under chin) Hook (with left hand punch from the side like you want to lambaste someone in the side of the head) You can do this combination 25 times and call it 100 if you like.

Friday - Bob and Weave Stand with feet wider than hips width, squat down and duck and move from side to side, like you are avoiding being punched by an opponent.

Saturday - Push-ups - Wall or floor whatever works for you!

Sunday - Rest or do a combination of all six!

Hey guys! I wanted this team to be about more than just a TV show and also find a way to keep the interest up until our beloved Haven returns in Summer 2011, so I thought we needed a challenge to whip us into shape and get rid of our trouble(s) spots.

Here's how the Haven 100 Weekly Challenge works. Every weekend a list of exercises will be posted for the week. I challenge you to do 100 reps of each exercise. You can do them all at once or break the 100 up into sets of 10, 20, 25 or 50 whatever works best for you. You can also modify the exercise to your skill level. If you have ever been a member of the Quick Fire Team here on spark, it's very similar to that.

After you have completed the 100 for the day, come back to the thread and pat yourself on the back. Also, if you have a favorite exercise you'd like included or any other ideas, shout them out!

Here's the schedule for the week of October 25 - 31:
Monday - Triceps Dips
Tuesday - Squats
Wednesday - Jump Ropes (with or without rope)
Thursday - Push-ups (Wall, Knees, or Plank)
Friday - Lunges (you can do 50 on each leg to total 100 if you like)
Saturday - High Knees (running in place bringing your knees up to waist height)
Sunday - Rest day or if you feel like a challenge, you can do a variety of exercises from this past week.
